Very Simply
This whole farce of an election has been, McCain says horrific thing, and Obama responds with an even worse thing, prompting McCain to ... etc, etc, etc.
But the media! They pose the whole thing in terms of style. "Obama sounded confident and countered such and such with an effectively worded riposte, yada yaha."
The whole election is about style. You have to admit, Obama thrashes McCain on style. It's Clinton vs. Bob Dole all over again.
