Help convince this undecided voter who to vote for

0 votes

I know I don't want to vote for either of the major party candidates. But I don't see any third party candidate that I really can agree with on every issue. If a vote for a third party is justified as a vote of conscience then I should really only cast my vote for somebody with whom I am in complete agreement.

This man was Dr. Paul. But I live in New York and I can't write him in. I don't like Chuck Baldwin because he has a social agenda that I just don't buy. I could never vote for McKinney or Nader. Ever. And I think Bob Barr is just, well...he's bob barr. I will not vote for Bob Barr. But I will have to pick one.

Who should I vote for?

Nobody is perfect

You're never going to find a candidate that you 100 percent agree with. Even though I like Dr. Paul, there are still a handful of issues where I disagree with his position. But I continue to support him because he most closely matches my values more than any other politician, and especially because I agree with his stance on issues that are REALLY important to me.

I had to mail in my absentee ballot this past Monday in order to meet the deadline and was undecided up until I absolutely HAD to mail that ballot out. Undecided for similar reasons--the two major candidates are jokes, Bob Barr is a tool, the other candidates are a bit too socialist for my tastes. I ended up voting for Chuck Baldwin. Because while I don't entirely agree with his platform, I felt that, overall, he had the best one out of all of my choices.

I am satisfied with my decision.

In SC we have 2 choices for the 3rd party

Barr and Nader. What I am going to do this year is to vote "against" Obama and McCain. I will do that by choosing Nader. (Barr lost my vote when he snubbed RP) It's pretty simple, actually. I try not to worry about things that I can not control. That is why it does not matter which side of the coin (Republicrats) wins the election. They both suck!

If you have systematically

If you have systematically eliminated every candidate before making your decision, you aren't an undecided voter.

Baldwin is the really the best overall choice, regardless of what you may think of his 'social agenda'. (I'm not aware of him having one that deviates significantly from Ron Paul's.)

LIsten to the Nader Baldwin debate

This debate was amazing the two canidates agreed on everything. I like Baldwin because he mirrored Ron Paul. If it was not for Ron Paul I don't think that Chuck would be running. I do believe that this is the way we get the Ron Paul revolution out.

I wrote in Ron Paul.

Though Idaho won't count write ins...

I am still writing in Dr Paul. Someone sometime will tkae the time to sift through the write-ins and see my wife and my votes for the best candidate this nation has had in my lifetime.

NOTA is an option

(none of the above) may be very gratifying. Shows you care enough to go through the effort to vote- you just dont like the choices. I happen to agree with Baldwin. I can understand why some wouldnt- but if you had your heart set on Paul- you may consider a vote for Baldwin is a vote for Paul- as your man chose to endorse him.

Live Free or Diebold

It's simple

I think you're operating on a misapprehension. You don't have to vote for president, or anyone for that matter.

When you vote for someone, you are giving sanction to the whole rotten, corrupt system -- crappy ballot access, lack of choice, Diebold, Acorn, GOP, Dems, the works.

When you don't vote, you effectively vote for no one. This scares the living pantcakes out of the ruling class. What if they held an election and no one came? Would the ruling class really rule anymore?

I made a big exception to my rule in the primaries last Spring for Dr. Paul, but in the main, I proudly vote for no one. It is my grand hope that in the long run, he'll win.

What are the odds of that happening, and even if it did, why would it 'scare' the ruling class? I thought the ruling class LIKED compliant, apathetic peasants who don't try to undermine their imperial rule?

"Dont encourage them by voting" is actually an absurd libertarian argument, which, if distilled past the rationalizations, equates to "f*ck it--I don't feel like voting--I'm too cynical". If that's how you feel, I don't want you to vote, so I'm good with that--but you shouldn't discourage other people from voting.
