When the going gets tough, the tough get going
We fought like hell for Ron Paul against incredible odds...but we whine like babies at increased unemployment?
Rocky Balboa: "Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you! You're better than that!"
We are Americans.
I don't give a damn about our so called government. The only power they have is the power that we give to them.
If unemployment and inflation really goes up, we can pull together. Take care of each other. Increase bartering. Live on much less.
Frankly, I welcome hard times. It will refresh our people's desire to live free. We'd rekindle our agricultural roots, learn to live better with our neighbors and family, learn to take care of our own money, learn medicine, music, and we'd relearn how to distrust the government. We'd learn how to really be secure on our own...without depending on government or corporations.
I have faith in our culture and in our people.

The motto of our movement actually should be:
When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get SMART.

Too many people in the USA
Too many people in the USA are lazy and apathetic.I hate to say it but unless we get organized, well organized, and have a plan of action we will lose even more liberties. Not just under an Obama presidency but a Mcain presidency as well. This is not a "We the People" form of governemnt anymore. Its stopped being such when they enacted the Federal Income Tax in 1913 (?) once again enslaving people for economic purposes, which is not Constitional but, they get away with it because they can. THEY are the Government!

Paine on Freedom
"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it."
--Thomas Paine (The Crisis, no. 4, 11 September 1777)
"The body is but a vessel for the soul,
A puppet which bends to the soul's tyranny.
And lo, the body is not eternal,
For it must feed on the flesh of others,
Lest it return to the dust whence it came.
Therefore the soul deceives and despises."
"It will refresh our people's desire to live free."
I dunno... last time we went through an economic collapse of epic proportions things seemed to play out differently... Last I checked the only thing that our people gained from the great depression was a strong desire never to go through it again, a willingness to submit to anything that their leaders told them would help end the pain, and a fundamental distrust of free markets.
No. The depression broke their spirits...and thus they
oppresed their American principles to fight in WWII and give up even more rights.
One word
and I say it with the greatest loyalty ....... REVOLUTION

"I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided; and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging the future but by the past." Patrick Henry
Sounds like a plan.
It just boggles my mind why more people aren't up in arms right now.
I guess the Republicrats will continue to ignore this particular problem until all of their toys are gone. But by then it will be too late.
"Tyrants fear nothing more than insubordination"
"It's just one big club... and WE ain't in it!"
Yeah,
Sounds rosey. If they "let" you do all that stuff. I mean, they are making owning herbs and vitamins illegal by 2009 for crying out loud! Then what? Whine or fight?
grateful for
one thing as an adult I have always been grateful for is being poor and making do. My last ten or so years haven't been too bad and I have enjoyed more then I ever thought I would. Coming up the hard way, although I appreciate what I have, I know at anytime I can lose it all and it doesn't make me who I am. I've been through some really rough stretches that have taxed me physically and emotionally and I draw comfort knowing that I have that strength. Not saying I'm perfect and nothing can get me down, but I'm glad I've had the experiences that have forced me to survive and think outside the box. I don't welcome the times ahead but I don't think I will fall apart either. I also have wonderful family and for that I am truly blessed and grateful. Plus for now I can come to this site and know that there are real patriots and great people all over the place. That gives me hope.

Yes, we are Americans. I applaud your positive post however, as time has passed in America, people sat by the wayside letting government trample our freedoms and liberties. My parents were of a mindset, if it doesn't come into my house, it's OK. It is that mentality that has given us:
1. Government run schools
2. Government run healthcare through medicare/medicaid/social security
3. Government run transportation
4. Government run banking
5. Government run reproduction
6. Government run food supplies
7. Government run extortion through taxes
8. Government run energy programs
Now tell me we live in a free country and you are deceived and blinded.

I'm sorry, but we are not going back to 1900
They are not just going to let everyone be self-sufficient little farmers those days are passed. If you want to return to that way of life, YOU NEED FREEDOM. That requires a fight. Elections don't work. Petitions don't work. Protests don't work. People have "had faith" things will be better for over 100 years, guess what. THEY HAVEN'T!!
Until the fed is gone and the government is replaced, there will be no peace and certainly no "Green Acres" lifestyle.
We need to all get real and sharpen up the pitchforks.

Yep. That's why, on election day, I will vote by buying a gun
Ron Paul is the great uniter, the income tax fighter...the military-supported, defender of the border...the political apathy solution and the champion of the Constitution! Doctor Paul is on-call!
Reality check
I don't give a damn about our so called government. The only power they have is the power that we give to them.
Idealism isn't reality. What was intended by the Founding Fathers shouldn't be the basis of your perception of how things are. Fact of the matter is that since 1803 the government has been grabbing power and the citizens haven't paid attention, which was what Benjamin Franklin meant when he said "[We have] a Republic, IF YOU CAN KEEP IT".
Obviously, we couldn't keep it, and as a result, we'll be getting our just desserts in the foreseeable future.
If unemployment and inflation really goes up, we can pull together. Take care of each other. Increase bartering. Live on much less.
When (I didn't say if) we enter hyperinflation, living on less won't be a choice we can make, it'll be mandated by economics. We'll all be forced to live with near-nothing.
Frankly, I welcome hard times.
Be careful what you wish for. I've seen third world nations with my own eyes, "hard times" isn't a walk in the park, even for the most hardened and self-sufficient person.
[Hard times] will refresh our people's desire to live free.
Last time we had "hard times", the social state was implemented and expanded exponentially, and we're still paying for it. Ever hear of the New Deal?
A complete economic collapse would just invite what John Kerry is calling "New Deal II", i.e. MORE socialism, not freedom. Americans have been trained to look to government, and that's just what they'll do.
We'd rekindle our agricultural roots
If you hadn't notice, the family farm is almost non-existent. Over 2/3's of the farms are corporate-owned now, and I don't see Time Warner being charitable with its agricultural boons.
We'd learn how to really be secure on our own...without depending on government or corporations.
Again, "New Deal II".

While I admire the rhetoric...
It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
True that sometimes you have to stand "like a jackass in the rain" and take what comes your way -- but often times, rather than "get hit" it is far better to be both nimble, quick thinking, and fast on one's feet (whether in life or boxing, speed and brains matter at least as much as fortitude).
The only power they have is the power that we give to them.
The rhetoric is nice, but far from reality.
Whether anyone likes it or not, the "we" in the line above is a COLLECTIVE "we" -- and that collective includes not merely the living (and those barely hanging on), but also those long dead who have "hooked" the saddle around the current generations. In addition, much of that power was taken during the dark of the night, and sometimes "seized" during daylight.
Ultimately that power can/will only be restrained by the collective "we" as a mob when it becomes so oppressed that it is willing to throw itself onto the gates and be decimated so that some few may survive to live a better day.
If unemployment and inflation really goes up, we can pull together. Take care of each other. Increase bartering. Live on much less. Frankly, I welcome hard times.

hard times ain't necessary.
. In the full enjoyment of the gifts of Heaven and the fruits of superior industry, economy and virtue, every man is equally entitled to protection by the law; but when the laws undertake to add to these natural and just advantages artificial distinctions, to grant titles, gratuities, and exclusive privileges, to make the rich richer and the potent more powerful, the humble members of society--the farmers, mechanics and laborers--who have neither the time nor the means of securing like favors to themselves, have a right to complain of the injustice of their Government.
We are not whining, we are exposing crimes. These creatures have stolen from us. If you ain't "whining" your a patsy. Dumbass.

Great Quote and a Great Movie
How about instead of Free State, people do Free City? Move into, or buy up a rental property inside the big cities like Philadelphia and change the inner city political scene. That's where socialism blooms.
I now realize Philadelphia and Pennsylvania could be the place Constitution Rights are reborn.
First, the original was signed here and put together by a motley crue of thinkers.
Second pennsylvania has some awesome communities that are still trying to change-just don't have a focus. I'm talking, of course, about the Amish and the Quakers. I've talked to so many Amish upset on the regulations on their livestock and food and I've seen so many quakers protest the war.
There's a large movement to buy local produce and the manufacturing base is struggling to get on its feet in spite of Big Governments efforts to batter it down. Pennsylvania's seen so many hits to the working class, from the coal mines to the steel industry to the manufacturing industry and now the farmers are suffering all because of offshoring and overregulation. Yet, somehow the people in PA always seem to get back on their feet and keep on fighting.
Now the great people in Philly are protesting casino's in their neighborhoods.
Finally, the phils won the World Series last night.
What does this mean? I think I could be at the right place at the right time.

As a former Quaker, I can
As a former Quaker, I can admire the Quakers anti-war stance(and their non-hostility and aceptance towards gays, bi's and lesbians), however I do not applaud their stance on illegal immigration. They seem to have taken more or less the same stance as many leaders in the catholic church, basically being pro-illegal immigration and pro-amnesty for illegals. Once I found out that that train of thought was widespread among Quaker leaders, it turned me away from the Quaker religion, I want no part in any organization that goes against Ron Pauls views of opposing illegal immigration and opposing amnesty/path to citizenship for illegal aliens. I am a Quaker no more.
Freedom from borders
Someone else put up a wonderful comment a while back along the lines that being born in a particular place does not entitle us to anything. that's bascially no different that royalty. how does being born in the united states entitle me to exclude those who weren't? AND, aren't our "birth rights" as citizens merely supported by the blood of native americans? recognize the hypocrisy that anyone should be able to live anywhere in the world that they want without restriction or fear of violence. in a truly free world there are no illegals and the flow of labor will reflect the desire for labor and the market will take care of the rest.
Even if you feel that being
Even if you feel that being a U.S. citizen means nothing, what about the laws of this country against illegal immigration? I suppose you would disagree with what it says in the constitution, that one must be a natural born U.S. citizen to be eligible to become president? Should we just rip up the constitution and say it is wrong?
I believe Ron Paul is right, that we need secure borders and we need to stop illegal immigration. I don't agree with erasing the borders, and not enforcing any laws having to do with illegal immigration, and causing the United States for all intents and purposes to cease to exist.
I can see why you might like to dream about a truly free world without laws, the dream of anarchists, but I don't share that dream and neither does Ron Paul.
Coming from PA Dutch stock myself, I agree there is still
a strong remnant of patriots here. Hell, PA was the first State to post double digits for RP in the primarys! PA seems to be split....the two big cities (P-burg & Philly are for Obama, the rest of the rural counties are for McCain)...ought to be interesting to see who actually gets off the couch and votes next week. Since the casinos in the Pocono's are not making the $$ anticipated, nor seeing area growth as promissed, the non-smoking ban is being retracted.... $$ wins over health matters. Let's see if THAT works.

I agree with you. However...........
I am currently in the situation where we may very likely lose our home; we have already lost our jobs, and it is pretty darn scary! I do believe that things will work out for the best in the long run. Does that mean things will ever be the same? Not likely. But I have faith in my God and in the American citizens. I am getting mentally prepared for whatever comes our way!

Banks are generally helpful
Banks are generally helpful in hard times. Most ALL of them will let you pay "interest ONLY" for a few months to get you thru. Call your mortgage holder. You may be pleasantly surprised...
freddiel - I'm sure you've
been a supporter long enough to have prepared - as best you could.
Remember when families used to live in the same home? Take care of parents who are getting older? Sharing chores, expenses, and memories.
Bonding is back - embrace it!
My brother is in the same dilemma - has several homes he may loose because of Fred and Fannie.
My job was "eliminated" in Dec. 06 - I was highest paid and oldest of those in our dept. & branch. However, home has been paid for and did not over-extend - ONLY used charge card as a convenience, and paid it off every month. Husband never had one - we lived our lives that way - no money - no purchase.
Saved for our wants and needs. They used to have 90 day notes, from our local banker, we would use occasionally, but always knew it could be paid.
Anyhow - nuf bout me.
Brother always reminds me - Only God is in Control. We don't know his plan but one thing is for certain, we will learn how to adjust and move forward. Once we learn the lesson, we won't get hit with it again.
Best regards for a better future.
