Don't worship Ron Paul

0 votes

On November 1st, 2008 Freedom4Me says:

I love and respect Ron Paul but I do not worship him. I believe the LIBERTY CAUSE is more important than the man, Ron Paul. So, in his infinite WISDOM when he says DO NOT WASTE your vote on me...I listen, because I know that he is about the BIGGER picture..THIS is not about RP.

Had we all taken our leader's stance, Chuck Baldwin would have sent a great message to the status quo. But when the votes are fragmented, it will go unnoticed. The news media cannot deny a strong 3rd place candidate, but they will certainly ignore 6 different, fragmented party votes. They (MSM) won't combine it and say, "oh, by the way, wow, if you added up all of RP's, CB's, BB, RN's votes, you would realize the strength of the third parties, and the message they are sending. Not gonna happen.

If one candidate, Chuck Baldwin is making a difference in the swing vote they (MSM) may have to mention his name and party. Then it would validate to the American voters that third party is indeed, an option...look at all of the people who voted for CB.

Too bad we didn't all join together and combine forces for the sake of getting 3rd party exposure to the public... put our differences aside and just follow our leader to make the Greatest Impact.

I had made my mind up about Baldwin long before RP endorsed him...but if RP had said he was gettting behind Barr I would have changed my vote, just for the impact and message we would be sending the American public. The message would be that it is not a waste to vote third party...look how close CB (BB, RN) came to winning...

but instead we are minimizing our effect...RP is a humble gentleman he will not tell you how to vote but he strongly "suggested" it by saying, DO NOT waste your vote on me, AND I (RP) am voting for Chuck Baldwin.

How about "Vote Chuck Baldwin", rather than...

"Don't Worship Ron Paul". I actually agree with the content of your post. I just think the title is a little strange.

Baldwin is a superb

Baldwin is a superb candidate.

Yes, he's conservative, and yes, he's a preacher. If you can't get past those two items, you just don't take our struggle seriously enough.

Do'nt you see

this is no longer about the vote or election as it is the C4L and the movement? Even if Ron Paul was president do you think WE The people could just kick back? Get real we have a constitution to regain, Even if he was president we would have our work cut out for us to help him fight the powers that be. I hope you are awake enough to see that. President or not he has done his job. He woke many Americans up. Without that there would be no chance. The election means very little unless by some fluke we get a 3rd party candidate in. Even then We the People have to back up the Constitution! I hope and think you all realise that! This battle is far from over. Tighten your belts grab your boot straps.Nov. 4th is just the begining. And then we are just finding out what new things we will be dealing with. Stay awake. it is not who the president is . It is who we are!
Ithink we all know what needs to be done,

exactly

Start organizing your communities -- until people do this there will be no change that is good.

You are correct I see it all

You are correct I see it all the time. Many, many Ron Paul supporters are finding it impossible to move on to the Campaign For Liberty. They can't let go of the man even when he asks them to. If anything it's a disrespect to Dr Paul as he has always stated that it's the message not the man that is important. When Dr Paul endorsed Baldwin I expected everyone to put forth the same effort for him as they did for Paul. But it did not happen. I would follow Dr Paul through the gates of hell if he asked me to and I thought everyone else felt the same way. I was wrong. I am so disappointed in my fellow Paulites I may not bother voting at all.

GREAT work today ;-)

Even if people......

do worship him, why should they stop? If people can worship creatures that never existed, god's that have never been seen, why should you take that away from them?
People want leaders, because they bring structure, it makes people feel that there is a cause.

You are delusional if you

You are delusional if you believe that Ron Paul's incredible support is a case of worship. Delusional and offensive.

Believe me, we know the issues and we know what is at stake.

...

Are you calling me delusional

based on the title of my commentary, or did you actually read the article?

(You know the issues and what's at stake...) I'm curious, who did you vote for?

I read your article and

I read your article and agree with it. The issue I have is with you implying in both your title and first sentence that Ron Paul's incredible level of support is due to some type of "worship."

Referring to Ron Paul supporters as 'worshipers' is no different than how the political establishment and mainstream media worked almost in unison to chip away at RP's staggering success by calling him a "kook" , "fringe candidate" , "unelectable" & etc every chance they had to do so. So now Ron Paul supporters are "worshipers."

That is what I refer to as delusional. Ron Paul has real true unequivocal support like no other, but we do not "worship" him.

In the primaries I voted for Ron Paul and on Tuesday I'll be voting for Chuck Baldwin.

...

Maybe "worship" was a bit strong...

especially when you mention it in light of the MSM. I hadn't thought of that angle.

I still have a problem with those who wrote in Ron Paul's name because of a feeling of obligation to the man instead of the movement. It is counter productive.

I'd argue that if you care about Ron Paul, listen to him...

I'd argue that if we all respect and admire Ron Paul we ought to take his suggestions seriously- meaning not to vote for him.

I agree- I love this guy, but he would be so saddened if we focused so much on him and forgot the message he was trying to convey. We aren't doing him nor us a favor.

He is smart, he has been around the block a few times, he knows what he is doing- I say we ought to listen to his advice.

That is my take.

GO RON PAUL!!!!!!

That may have been

a more tactful title...but a little long to grab attention.

We are in agreement on the rest.

People on this site use euphemisms…

Maybe even so-called hero worship, but don't bash people.

--Cliff, Sioux City, Iowa

Cliff. I read your comment

Cliff. I read your comment on the youtube person of the year video. Nice. One of the best.

I hear you...

It was not my intention to bash people.

Ron Paul is my hero. I respect him, and I know that he wants us to look to the MESSAGE..not the man.

Why are you saying all this?

--Cliff, Sioux City, Iowa

I am hearing some people

say they are voting for RP out of an "allegiance' to RP the person, without regard to what he suggests is best for the liberty movement.

The direction changed and the people scattered.

What happened? Why didn't we unite behind RP's lead? If only until third parties get the equal respect and coverage in debates, polls and ballots.

If we could open the eyes of the many "blind" evangelicals who determine the Republican vote, we would have strength in numbers. I know, I was a "blind" evangelical who is now trying to transform my large family of evangelicals. Chuck Baldwin would have made it much easier to reach those Christians through Constitutional Education.

Within the boundaries of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness...I now agree that non-believers have the right to live "immoral" lives if they so choose. Those decisions should be left in the hands of the cities and states, not the federal government.

I guess I misunderstood.

Probably didn't take the time read your entire post. That was a very nice response though.

I'm a born-again believer who grew up in a Christian home. The thought that the federales should legislate morality is still in the back of my dad's head. He knows better! He's been a constitutionalist (kind of) for most of my life. His excuse now is, "I just pay attention to the Book."

--Cliff, Sioux City, Iowa

Because Ron Paul wants us to vote for Baldwin.

But most people would rather attack Baldwin rather than spend the effort to find out who he really is, what he really supports, and why Ron Paul endorsed him.

I was sceptical too initially, but it was due to assumptions about the Constitution Party Platform.

But now, I ask this; is Ron Paul a Republican?

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

Please don’t discourage people from being people.

I've been a constitutional libertarian for 30-some years (Libertarian Party member these days). When I was in my teens I went to a non-accredited school (didn't get "surrender to the good government; it's here to help you" applesauce force-fed to me five days a week). Whereas almost nobody I know of had such benefits.

Most people who frequent this site got their first peek at liberty in its true form (sweet as honey!!!) from Ron Paul, meaning that part of what America used to represent should just barely start to dawn on most of these lucky souls in five years or so. Unraveling years of mental & psychological junk takes time. Just when you think you have a handle on things, you realize you know very very little.

Everyone should ignore the R/D disgrace (I wish my parents would…my gosh; Dad still believes in stategy voting). Americans should vote third-party—that's for sure! But some people have different aspirations. They can vote for Donald Duck, for all I care. Ron Paul doesn't have any desire to tell an American for whom to vote.

I was in kind of a bind. I'd told basically everyone I had known that I'd be voting for Ron Paul. I voted early to avoid to hords of brainless wonders who only vote for the one who promises the most free stuff. Iowa has no write-in candidacy rules, so I wrote Ron Paul's name in (even though good old Chuck's name was on the ballot—a very good sign!) It was largely a matter of honor. Otherwise would have voted for Chuck Baldwin no matter what Ron Paul would have said. In fact I would have wondered about Ron Paul if he would have endorsed Mr. Ego aka Bob Barr, for example.

--Cliff, Sioux City, Iowa

I wouldn't say "most people"

I wouldn't say "most people would rather attack" on here. Check the results of the Daily Paul 'political poll' thread.

The vast majority of people in our movement will be voting for Baldwin.

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States

Good Point - "Vocal Minority" would have been more accurate.

Seeing that poll thread is proof that people are listening to Ron Paul, but just not posting all the time like the Barr or Nader people.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

What I heard Ron Paul tell

What I heard Ron Paul tell the liberty minded voter was to vote third party...period. With that you are free to support whichever candidate you choose. I wouldn't go switching my vote from Baldwin to Barr because RP supported Barr. I don't like Barr as the Libertarian candidate, he's too connected to the GOP base. JMO
