Yahoo: "Third Parties Unlikely to Impact Presidential Race"

What is this what they're hoping or is this a statement of fact....

Sorry to say, but I agree: third parties won't likely surpass 3%
I will be surprised if the third party total, nationwide, reaches 3%.
In 2004, the national total of third party votes was 818,448 votes, for precisely 0.96% of the popular vote. Less than 1%. The strongest third party candidate in '04, Nader, took all of 0.38%, or about one third of one percent of the vote, netting just about 465,000 votes. The Libertarian and Constitution candidates each got 0.32 and 0.12 percent, respectively.
In 2000, the national total of third party votes was only 3.8%, and 2.7% of that was Nader. His next closest competitor was Pat Buchanan with 0.4%, less than 500,000 votes nationwide. The country has become so conditioned by the MSM to think of third parties as spoilers, even though Nader took only less than 3% of the vote, that I doubt in 2008 the national total will surpass 3%.
In some states, especially solid red or blue states, you may see Nader or the combined Constitution/Libertarian slates hit 5-7%, as people will feel more comfortable casting a "protest" vote there.
But to a "t", aside from my closest family and friends, every one I talk to outside my state (which is a solid republican state) refuses to vote third party, fearful of either McBama or O'Cain.
Sigh.

RP2012!
I think
they base their statement based on a perceived close race between McBama, but in the solid blue and red states third parties may perform better than expected...
Also: CNN polling says Montana is now a swing state, this must be solely due to the polling of Ron Paul in the state.
can anyone say
reverse psychology.... ha
trying to get those lame last minute - well maybe I should vote for McBama ..... NO!

No one likes to hear it, but
No one likes to hear it, but it's mostly true. Our numbers are very small in comparison. Didn't stop me from writing in Paul, though.

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul
Let's prove them wrong!
I'm writing in Ron Paul! Not 3rd party, but I want the GOP to know they lost because tey nominated a fucking scumbag to be their nominee.
My theory is that all of this "hype"...
about how scary each of them is has been to keep us all "on the reservation". Members of my family are SO INCREDIBLY TERRIFIED of Obama that they are just suicidal..... and the thought that I might vote third party has them pretty much not speaking to me. So I think alot of this stuff the last few weeks has been to keep THIRD PARTIES from making big gains this year and waking the people up to possibilities.

Third parties unlikely to spoil presidential race
"In some sense, there are some purists who say you have to vote for what's right. You just can't vote for the lesser of two evils," said Dennis Goldford, a political science professor at Drake University in Iowa.
"But with the economy in the situation it's in, I don't think people feel like they have the luxury of just shopping around. They're saying: 'Somebody has to fix this in a hurry and you know it's not going to be one of these third-party guys.'
"I think it's great you have all these people running. That's what America is all about," Davidson said. "But you have to think long and hard about how you're going to vote. I like Barr, but McCain needs every vote he can get to beat Obama."

Another AP writer that preaches the fear, the president has to fix this mentality.Nobody told him that the government is the problem.
THE FEDERAL RESERVE - Americas OVERLORD
It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.

"A government of reason is better than one of force." --Thomas Jefferson to Richard Rush, 1820
These guys
still don't get it,the two candidates of which neither one will fix anything. The third party is the only option (with Ron Paul being the exception).People got so wrapped up in trying to beat Obama that they failed to produce a quality candidate for themselves and rejected the best possible candidate for the Republicans (Paul).I will be glad to vote third party in all phases of Government (Senate,Congress,President down to local offices).
This year...more then ever...third parties WILL impact the race.
