My son had the only write-in vote in the 5th-6th grade
Submitted by gottago on Mon, 11/03/2008 - 21:03
I posted prior, complaining about my son's middle school having this mock election for 5th-6th graders and allowing only a (d) or (r) choice.

Apparently after my son inquired about no write-in choices, they decided to allow for them.
320 (r)
196 (d)
1 (I) - Nader
I was proud and horrified at the same time. As I gave him a high five, I asked "you were the only one??? Really". That's scary.
He said the Principal announced the results over the PA and remarked, "..and interestingly, one write in vote for Ralph Nader".
He said he would have voted for Chuck Baldwin, but knew more about Nader and he seems to follow the U.S. Constitution.

My vote is for the U.S. Constitution tomorrow.

My daughter didn't get to cast her vote for who she wanted. I'm glad your child did.

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul
I work in a high school and
I work in a high school and they held a debate with teachers supporting both sides. Then the students had to votes. Obama won. I do not work in the history department and knew nothing about the debate/election. After the results were announced my students asked me who who I was voting for this election. I do not like to discuss political things at school because we are not supposed to. I told them it was not the front runners and they were confused. I said there were others running and to ask their history teacher about third parties. I later asked told their history teacher they may be asking and he had no idea who was running third party. Ah the system sucks.
