Heartbroken from being dumped at the polling booth
So I woke up at 6:30am today to get ready to vote (polls open at 7am). It was a cold and rainy morning, and I had to walk to the polling place since my car is running on a donut spare. So I get there before 7am and had to wait in the rain since there was a line that went around the building. After about 15 minutes of waiting I finally was up to vote, I was given a paper ballot with those little ink stamps. Went through the ballot and wrote-in Ron Paul and Gail Lightfoot, against Dr. Paul's wishes. When I wrote-in Dr. Paul's name I felt really heartbroken, like being dumped by the love of your life heartbroken. I'm not saying that I'm going back to sleep and not continuing to push forward with the movement; I'm saying the voting system itself was disappointing... All that hard working campaigning during the primaries and even before. I remember after finding out about Dr. Paul that following 4th of July I spent a night in a park nearby handing out Dr. Paul's (Dr. Peppers) and Diet Dr. Paul's. I remember the months leading up to primaries I bought dozens upon dozens of donuts to give away in the mornings to inform people about Dr. Paul. I pushed Dr. Paul's message hard in my high school, I remember the joy of him winning my school's mock elections. I remember the Ipod I sold in-order to donate to the first money bomb, and the early Christmas presents I asked for which were donations to the December money bomb. I remember days campaigning and sign waving, and nights planting Ron Paul signs. All of this and more lead up to that moment where I scribbled down Ron Paul and Gail Lightfoot on a ballot that looked so flimsy and unimportant. I makes me sad to think that my vote will amount to nothing after so much effort. I am not one to complain, I know many other patriots on here have sacrificed just as much if not more. I am ashamed of the system we are under, where people talking about the elections refer to the two major parties as the only choice "either" they say, well I say wake up, there's other choices! I'm feeling really down after these so called elections, maybe some of you guys had a better experience, post and tell me about it~

I know how you feel
We have to remember this feeling, and make sure we do everything we can to avoid a repeat in four years. We've all done too much to have to feel like this now.

Let's make sure we finish what we started
Nothing to be sorry for
The work of you and so many others across this nation has not been for naught. It continues. I think it's absolutely amazing what has happened over the past year or two because of this movement. A difference HAS BEEN MADE. Your work has resulted in much good that will continue and grow.
Thank you!
Anti-climatic
My proudest votes, ever, were my vote for Ron Paul in our February caucus, and my general election vote for Buchanan in 2000. I took great pride in those votes. They felt so good.
This year, though I voted for a good man, a very good man, Chuck Baldwin, it was all rather anti-climatic. Filling in the little bubble, placing the ballot inside the secrecy sleeve, and that was it. Election 2008, a done deal.
I have my memories of the last year and a half that I will always cherish, and to me, the Rally for the Republic was the culmination of this campaign, and so in many ways it went out on a high note, and I thought it was very smart of Dr. Paul to do that rally to allow us some closure to this year-long (or longer) emotional roller coaster ride.
Cherish all those fond memories you told us about and all the others that you have stored up inside you. We fought a damn good fight and ought to be proud of our accomplishments.
Thank you for your efforts and enthusiasm. I've never met you, but it's an honor to have you in this movement.

RP2012!
Thanks
Thanks AlaskaRon, I see your post quite often. I serious hope and wish with all my heart that some way Dr. Paul would become President, through that Obama scandal. Only way we would be able to survive as a country, Obama or McCain would run us deeper into the ground.
Keep your chin up.
People from all walks of life are waking up. Everyday somebody honks or gives me a thumbs up for the big Ron Paul sign on the back window of my car. Lately it's been people dressed in suits -- before it was your typical real people in jeans -- patriots...
On Halloween night some kids were messing with my Ron Paul yard signs after we went out (after the trick-or-treaters ended) and I get a phone call on my cell from my neighbor (a physician) telling me some older kids were messing with the signs and he chased them off. Then he called the police. When we got home there were three police cars out there and cops walking the neighborhood on foot. So my wife [who likes uniforms ;-) ] was out there for an hour talking to the police about Ron Paul.
I have never had a cell call from my neighbor.

One person at a time, that's how we do it...
I had my yard sign messed with too so I moved it closer to the house. Converting one person at a time is how we always have been doing it, that is what sets us apart from the mindless zombies of the other Candidates. I wish Dr. Paul had the air time he has now a days during the primaries and elections, but what can we expect from the mainstream media, I honestly feel we had our primaries stolen. No way can some guy who is breaking his bank and had no ground support become the nominee when we had over a million foot soldiers, and millions of dollars from everyday Americans. It is such a travesty... No point crying over spilled milk though, we have to march on~
Think about it............
You would of been more upset if you voted for Obama or Mc.Cain...You voted for "our man", the only choice for America!!! ....Regardless of the out come, and when all of this is said and done and the smoke clears and the country is screwed up again, you could look at everybody in the face proundly and tell them "DON'T BLAME ME I VOTED FOR RON PAUL".....so you see , you went with your gut feeling and that is what counts here, you know what he stands for ,what he could do for this great country , and how better we would be with him in office...No my friend you made the right choice and "do not let anyone tell you different......We lived the dream man and no one could ever take that away from us, in your heart and mind this rainy and walking to your polling place heart broken day is the "best day ever" for you, because you voted for the right man...Period!!, now go watch some great Ron Paul rally video's and put a smile on your face...
you did the right thing Justin4RonPaul ...Peace!

RIGHT in
I didn't have a problem here in PA... NO long line @ 10:00AM....Lots of Obama pins & shirts walking around the polling place ,which is illegal.....
weee
They should have been kicked out
It's against the law to do that totally, during the primaries I had to be 100 yards away when I was passing out donuts...
When opportunity presents itself
I feel you bro.
But I see opportunity. When McCain takes the whooping the Republican party so rightously deserves today, the party is going to look to reinvent itself. That is where we come in. We have clear timelines to prepare for the next elections and for 2012. This will be the time to groom a Ron Paul Republican to rise from the ashes and take back the party. That's how I see it. Who ever expected we'd do all the great things we did this time around, and how dangerous to the establishment we had to have been in order for them to treat Dr. Paul and people who voted for him that way. We have the power of "I told you so". And I see a great opportunity ahead.
Let's push for electoral
Let's push for electoral reform. Approval Voting appeals me since people can really vote their conscience.

Anticlimactic
I, too, have felt very much like you. I remember walking my precinct in freezing cold winds a few days before the primaries. I dropped off a packet (that I paid for and packaged) to every Republican in my town with DVDs, slim Jims and a personal letter from me. I paid for ads in my local papers. I went to the Arizona State Convention and got the wind knocked out of me seeing all of the corruption. I donated to every money bomb and even sent out Ron Paul Christmas cards.
All that, for what? I don't know but change happens one person at a time. If we made a difference in the thinking of a few people, we have accomplished much. It doesn't help that we are stuck with a total criminal for president (either way) but we can feel good that we were not asleep at the wheel. We did something that mattered.

That's the word...
Anticlimactic is the word, that totally summed up the experience. We gave our heart and soul for this campaign, and we will continue to do so! 2012 here we come~
Wow!
Wow, I did not expect so many replies in such a short amount of time, thanks everyone. Well I have no regrets from campaigning for Ron Paul, I learned so much and met so many awesome people. Got a signed copy of The Revolution: A Manifesto (my most prized possession). Dr. Paul has inspired me to become more politically active, I plan on running for Congress in my district when I'm 25, then moving on to become a Senator and eventually President if possible. As for today, it was not all in vain, I did some math and came to the conclusion that my vote was worth unlimited free coffee for the day (so many Starbucks, but morally incorrect), some free food, and a protest vote against the two party system. Once again thanks for the encouraging words, I hope everyone has a pleasant day. Oh and on another note, I shudder at the though of our next President, McBama.
See, it's not all in vain
Good things have come of it. Dr. Paul energized you and many more like you. The political landscape can and will change. It just takes time.
One of my most prized possessions is my signed copy of "Freedom, Peace and Prosperity" and a picture with me and RP's giving me a side hug. :)

Couldn't do it
I was staring down at the ballot and seen Chuck Balwins name to mark it and then I saw the write-in spot so empty..... So I couldn't vote for Chuck you see it just would not be right, so I wrote in Ron Paul in that empty spot and marked it. I made a decision last year to vote for Dr Paul and I kept my word. Is this vote meaningless like so many say? I say NO, it means I kept my word.
Remember remember the 5th of November.
Justin, you are a hero, one of the
small band of freedom patriots who did everything they could to wake up the sleepwalking majority. Today you've hit your emotional bottom; tomorrow you'll be refreshed and ready fight on. The sheep have yet to hit bottom when they discover they've been duped and fleeced.
You are wide awake and know what's coming. Use the time to prepare, strengthen, educate yourself and all those you love.
Voting is not what causes change
it is the ideas and philosophy that informs men that causes change. When humans realize that no government can bring them peace, justice, and prosperity the ideas that we have spread will be there. Ideas matter, votes dont.
I will not vote today, but I think all my work during the campaign has paid off.
You spread the message of liberty more than it has been spread in this country in over a century.
No regrets
I too have been told by police to hand out slim jims elsewhere - although they each took one, sneaking a RP sign into the third row of a McCain rally that went up everytime he said the magic word 'Iraq', staying up late to watch the moneybomb results, etc.. I have never regretted one bit of the time and money spent on the campaign. It has been a total joy to serve Ron Paul's attempt to revive the Constitution.
Time to start thinking about 2012 tomorrow the Fifth of November.
Remember, remember the 5th of November.
when liberty rekindled it's flame.
There will be no reason
in this campaign season
for patriots to act like they're tame.

Don't give up
The message is what's important. Dr. Paul is not perfect, and there will be many like you inspired by his message.
Yes, the voting is really the least satisfying aspect of the electoral process. You feel like a drop in the ocean. And of course, writing in a name that's not even on your ballot is like cheering for the Mets during the last World Series.
Don't be discouraged. While McCain or Obama will take office, we can hope that the seeds of conservatism will take root and that new "Ron Pauls" will be inspired by the message and the sacrifices you made. The honeymoon will be over shortly and then we can begin to recruit more folks for CFL.
Thanks for your efforts. They weren't in vain!!
