So where is Baldwin?? He didn't even show on the radar?!?!

0 votes

I didn't even see a report on him.

So much for RP's endorsement. So where did all the disenfranchised vote go? Back to Obama?

Can't say I'm disappointed today.... my guy wasn't running.

Ron Paul said 3rd party runs

Ron Paul said 3rd party runs are futile. And he purposefully avoided endorsing anyone for a long time, and would have continued to not endorse anyone, had it not been for that dipshit Barr.

Why would he endorse a third party when he stated in probably several dozen interviews in 2007 and 2008 that a third party run wasn't his cup of tea? (i.e. His opinion was that 3rd Party runs were ineffective)

The only reason, and it was last second, was to show a token of his appreciation for Baldwin's loyalty.

What is it about this scenario that you don't understand?

Good points

This year they were especially futile it seem like...

He who votes....

decides nothing;
He who counts the votes, decides everything.

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul

the problem is Chuck baldwin

the problem is Chuck baldwin is the antithesis to the group of people who rule the world. Just like Ron Paul is.. the media will go out of there way to discredit and and make him look like a "theocrat" to scare people away.
nader,barr... they are somewhat independant but some of there views still like big government , and control of certain aspects of the population and economy are there. They will not let any chance of Baldwin getting a foot hold. just like some people think diebold changes peoples votes, I gaurantee the votes shown for Baldwin are not accurate. God gives the people of a nation the government they deserve! we saw this last night and for the last 20 years. We abort our Children -- 50 million and counting-- we allow perversion openly as far as queer rights and marriage. As we see with our banking , it is an unjust measure.. there are crooks in banking and government.. the corruption runs high in DC andon wall street. the people who are taking it hard are people like us, who are struggling to make ends meat. Our purchasing power is being inflated away , our jobs sent overseas.. All because of the Sins of this nation.. the nation is blind to what is happening! the US will go down the same path as any other empire in history! The US with its Constitution, and bill of rights WAS the best nation ever to be on the face of the earth! the problem is as people prosper they can not handle prosperity.. sorry to say-- The Us is doomed!
And what this country needs Right now is a Ron Paul and a Chuck Baldwin.. 2 real Christian men who could have brought us back! The people of the US will suffer greatly.. that suffering will start in 2 months!
Bush was the steam roller making the path for even a worse leader.. he was elected by a blind electorate last night! good luck to you all!

This partially confirms

This partially confirms something I've been saying for a while now. Ron Paul has always said that the movement isn't about him, but about an idea. This is true. But Ron Paul is just about the perfect individual to bring the idea to full fruition. And without a leader (should Dr. Paul choose to retire from political life), no movement can survive.

Consider Baldwin, the presidential candidate Ron Paul endorsed. A lot of people were unable to vote for him because his views on gay marriage, drug legalization, ferocity on border security, digs with the Christian right, and so on. Those are a LOT of issues for people to contend with. And yet Baldwin is about as close to Ron Paul politically as you can get. But he isn't Ron Paul. And even if he was politically succinct to Ron Paul, he still lacks his knowledge on the economy. He lacks his age and experience to say that he's been fighting for Liberty for a half century. And he lacks his inspiration.

I'm dedicated to the movement, but honestly, I'm afraid that Ron Paul is one of a kind.

Baldwin has strengths.

Chuck is, for example, a better speaker on the bully pulpit than Ron Paul. Ron Paul is terrific at being likeable and communicating ideas, but he's hardly what I'd call a forceful speaker, unless he's cornered in a debate. Chuck radiates more aggression, which I think is sometimes needed.

Baldwin's also the perfect age bracket, and he has unmistakable charisma. These are good assets.

I do agree that his Right-wing Protestant Christian conservative orientation is a slight drawback, especially in combination with the platform of the Constitution Party.

A bigger problem is that Baldwin has never held office, and, while I do not consider that a defect in an aspiring President, most people do.

Agreed

I agree with every point you make, except I thought Ron Paul rallied supporters with vigor in Iowa (excerpt at 18 sec into link below), and I saw him do the same in Michigan.

There also were problems with both campaigns, but that's another (long) story. So is the way in which minor party candidates continued to be excluded from debates. Efforts posted here were a start, but they came too late to have an impact.

To see Baldwin and Nader on CSPAN, I had to tune in before 5 a.m. and know it was there because it was not listed on my cable tv scroll. Even CSPAN's web site didn't show a repeat -- so I crashed, only to find it on later when I woke up, and once again I missed the first half hour.

Oh, I didn't say he is an

Oh, I didn't say he is an ineffective speaker all the time. He just has very little Patrick Henry-Thomas Jefferson "fire in the belly".

He's kind and modest, which inspires loyalty among the faithful, but lacks a little outreach at times for new people, who are coming in to check out "what's all the fuss about this guy?"

He lacks the ability to tear off those FDR-Ronald Reagan-John F. Kennedy style speeches, because he's more of a teacher than one who does proclamations.

We need more proclamation power--especially with an American electorate this dull-witted.

I have a very hard time

I have a very hard time believing that the third party candidates did as poorly as they did. Many conservatives hated John McCain, and there were a lot of Democrats (mostly former Clinton supporters) who did not like Obama. This should have been the year for a decent third party turnout. Nothing like Perot, mind, but at least 3-5%. Something seems very much wrong here, though with the known corruption in the Diabold machines, I cannot say that I am surprised.

Probably the worst part for me are the congressional results. Carl Levin and Lindsay Graham both were re-elected, two of the most corrupt and vile senators in Washington. My representative, Ehlers, who supported the bail-out bill was also re-elected by a large majority. In fact, it seemed that few people who supported that treasonous legislation were harmed in any way by the people who so recently were angry. The message was sent alright. It said, "we are firmly behind the status quo."

It is times like these when I question whether it is possible to save this once great nation.

I agree

I find it very difficult to believe that 3rd party candidates did that poorly. The whole thing was rigged from the start.

my research shows...

...that 24% of americans are politically independent.

for the likes of me, i can't come to the conclusion that only less than 3% of those 24% voted for a third party candidate.

so again.....diebold.

You give Diebold too much credit

People are stupid. And just because they are "poltically independent" does not mean they vote independent. In Alaska, something like 50% of registered voters are "non-partisan" or "undeclared", but they do not vote independent, they vote D or R, consistently. I know a number of people who are "Non-Partisan" or "Undeclared" on paper, but are the biggest liberal Democrats you could ever imagine.

RP2012!

i think the poster with the moniker....

.Live Free or Diebold is an appropriate explanation.

even if only half of the RP supporters voted for Baldwin he'd have registered on the radar.

Yes and my tag line too

I watched the unknown/disliked McKinney rack up an astonishing 27,000 votes in the space of 15 minutes, while Baldwin barely got 1,000 more.

There was some heavy duty vote flipping going on. After several people reported their touchscreens flipping from an Obama selection down to McKinney, I began watching the tallies. But McCain was so unpopular that even Diebold's siphoning couldn't get him a near tie.

Baldwin was on 37 states (?) while McKinney was only on 32 states (?)
Does not compute.

Ralph Nader not even making 1 million? Not likely.
Ron Paul in 3 huge states making only 19,000? Not likely.

Agreed.

PLUS we must consider the ballot access issue hampered Chuck.

You can't run a successful conservative constitutionalist political campaign without being on the Texas ballot. I'm sure next time that will be fixed.

Both factors, plus no name recognition with the public--because he's a brand new political figure--had an impact on Chuck.

But it's mostly a voting machine issue, in my opinion.

results

when do the official results come in?

locally, in my county they've released the unofficial tally, and I don't see my vote for Baldwin... shows 0 votes but I know my wife and I both wrote him in.

Also, last night all those #'s we were seeing on TV... those were Exit Poll results, right? We've got no clue what the counts are at this point... right?

Your MSM At Work(?)...

Though write-ins (at least here in CA) takes time...

after looking at the numbers

I'm not so sure Baldwin voted for Baldwin. :)

I researched Baldwin and

I researched Baldwin and know he was the most qualified candidate, I voted my conscience and have no regrets

Hello? Is anybody paying attention?

We have learned in no uncertain terms we can believe NOTHING coming from the media, The System and the NWO. NOTHING! These numbers are all bogus. Of course we did better than is being reported. Stop believing their lies and get back to liberating yourselves from The Matrix.

Thank you!

It's meant to kick us in the stomach, just like in the primaries.
I don't believe the numbers for Baldwin, Ron Paul in 3 states or Nader for one minute.

Neither do I.

Consider how high Nader was polling compared to his tally. Someone obviously called in "squash the third parties" to Diebold. And anyone who didn't use a paper ballot had their votes vaporized.

How can anyone

believe in the numbers reported anymore? People WAKE UP! They will cheat, lie and steal anyway they can to win. Have we all learned nothing from the primaries? The Democrats are just as shady as the Republicans. Third party votes were flipped to whoever they wanted to win, be it presidential, senatorial or congressional races. The numbers reported are supposed to sink us all back into apathy with cries of "No on cares! They're all sheeple! We can't do anything about it! etc. ect."

STOP BUYING INTO THIS LINE OF GARBAGE! THERE ARE SO MANY OF US THEY ARE SCARED OUT OF THEIR SKINS! JUST BECAUSE THEY WON'T REPORT IT DOESN'T MAKE IT NOT SO!

Now get back in and fight like the winners we are even though they won't admit it. Fight harder, fight for liberty and everyone's freedom!

I would have voted for Baldwin

only because of Ron Paul's endorsement but he was not listed here in New York. For some reason you cannot write in at the polling station, unless I was not informed correctly. So who do I vote for now in this democratic state - not osama obama?

In my mind my vote was for Ron Paul anyway.

When it gets really bad - people will wake up and figure out how they should have listened to Ron Paul.

No wonder why everyone else says we are stupid Americans.

We have a wonderful message.

We have a wonderful message. We had some very fine folks running with that message.

We didn't have MONEY!!

For Pete's sake..Obama spent almost one billion dollars to get his message out...to travel the country repeatedly..to buy time and attention. We didn't have a George Soros supporting our ideas.

How much did we have?? A very paltry amount.

We need MONEY...and lots of it so we can get out the message of Freedom.

We can do this.

We have 4 years to make Ron Paul 2012 happen. We CAN raise real money when it's Dr. Paul.

Bingo!

The winning answer of the day.

Only the Ron Paul campaign had money earlier in this year, and it was essentially squandered...wasted.

Baldwin's campaign had no money. People won't elect a Third Party candidate who only appears on C-SPAN.

I say this in support of Baldwin.
