It's a bit pessimistic to start considering what might happen if RP doesn't get the Republican Nomination, but this article has an interesting idea... The JBS is a good way for all of us to stay in the fight.
Hi all, this is in response to "If RP doesn't win" (yeah, right):
I'm sure that many of you know about the John Birch Society and I suspect that the membership here at the DP is rife with either current or former members. For those of you are either not familiar with it, have heard about it but not checked it out, or have heard bad things, I would strongly suggest that you should take a look: http://www.jbs.org
In an article in the New York Sunday Times, Ron was asked about the JBS specifically and he said something like: "Oooohhh The John Birch Society. Is that bad? It would be hard for me to find too many positions of theirs that I don't agree with." That may not be a direct quote but it is danged close. That is Ron's position on the Society.
The JBS has an infrastructure in place already that is jam-packed with educational materials to use in the battle to save this republic. I have been a member on and off since 1992 or so and was a former chapter leader. IF RP loses (and that is a big if because I think the polls are whacked and his support is much higher than is claimed by them) we as his supporters can't afford to.
Ron Paul is considered by many of us supporters to be our last best hope. I don't fully discount that because he certainly has brought great hope to my heart, but truth be told, the American people themselves are truly the last best hope. Many of them just don't know it yet. Many don't realize we are on the edge of a precipice and others do, but aren't sure what to do about it. The answer to the problem lies in education. It always has. Demagoguery has been the main mode of "political" influence most Americans have been subjected to for well over 50 years, possibly a lot more. By saying that, I'm talking about what the people have had "fed" to them. But also what has been denied to them, i.e. what is REALLY going on in this world. In order to prevent pouncing on me for wearing a tinfoil hat, I won't comment further about what's really going on. The JBS is a place where we can all get together in local chapters and fight for better/less government, stay well informed oursleves and work to educate others.
IF we lose, it will be for one of 2 reasons:
1) The voting machines were rigged.
2) The American people were demagogued again, instead of "politically educated."
It is the second point that I am speaking to here. I have been around the block several times in this freedom fight and I'm here to tell ya, as a political educational organization, the JBS is surpassed by none. No matter which is your hot button issue, no matter which tangent you take in the fight for liberty and freedom, the issue ALWAYS comes back to education. Education of yourself first, then others. If you are reading this post and a RP supporter, you are most likely already there. It is the others that we need to reach. From farmer Jones in Iowa to the dockworker in NYC.
When Ron Paul becomes President, he will need a Congress that he can work with. In particular, the House. The JBS has a program to do just that. It is called the "letters from congress" program. They ask congress key questions on issues of freedom and concern, then distribute their responses to the voters in his/her district. If a congress critter knows there is a strong program in his/her district, there will be either a sudden change in the way they vote, or someone else in their place within 2 years or less. Space won't allow me to show you how the numbers work out as to how easy it is to sway most districts but if you decide to look into this, find a local JBS chapter leader and ask for a presentation on this program. We only need 218 congressmen to vote constitutionally to win this thing for Ron.
There are ways in which we can fix the Senate as well. Here is one I've discovered (with much help from a good friend). I've linked to it before from the DP but maybe some didn't get a chance to see it:

Once again, my overall point is that "after Ron Paul" win or lose, there IS a place where we can all get together and continue what we have begun here. There may be others as well. I suggest we all keep the meet-ups alive in order to stay in touch, at a minimum. It has been said that history is made by the dedicated few. The group of RP supporters are certainly that, dedicated and much more than just a few. Lets not lose that or lose touch with each other. It would be a tragedy of epic proportions. You guys and gals are the best and it is an absolute pleasure to have met you all and I would hate to lose touch with even 1 of you. By the way, by posting this, I'm not trying to really "sell" anything for I have no financial interest in the JBS and they themselves are a non-profit. I'm merely offering a suggestion as to what we as a group could do whether RP wins or not.

If he doesnt win let there be no doubt that this revolution should carry on. The revolution is more about a movement and the restoration our Constitutional freedoms, than it is about any one "win". Dr. Paul should carry the torch forward (win or lose) until it is time to pass it off. The problem we have in politics now days is that the campaign starts to late and ends to soon. If we lose why stop? Continue the momentum for four years until the next election. This movement needs to spread to all forms of public office. The roots have taken hold now lets not kill the tree.

Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh ect Have always said that the Repubs have a big tent. Well we know that is a lie. Redstate.com had to remove our posts because we overwhelmed them. They are guilty of the same censorship they acuse the dems of. These guys ratings and relevance will be dimminished by the end of the decade because they are no longer champions of freedom but simply shills for the msm and the cabal's.

If he doesn't win I will immediately shift my attention to my next local election and continue educating myself on local politics.
A president who doesn't see the Constitution as a "God-damned piece of paper" would be wonderful, but the most important thing is to change the political climate from the ground-up.

Think about it:
A Democrat or Republican (other than Ron Paul) takes office.
The masses who voted him/her into office are oblivious of the upcoming recession (if they followed the state of the economy they would have known Ron Paul was the only one addressing it)
The recession hits, it hits hard, the masses turn to the government (naturally because most of them decided to vote in a president promising handouts to begin with)
Government offers the solution of the North American Union to strengthen the economy and in doing so introduces the new Amero currency.
The masses, desperate for a solution, grudgingly accept it and BAM, no more sovereignty
But to do this, the recession has to be HUGE. So the government would first stretch it out through the continuation of war despite popular resistance. The war is also meant to distract the publics attention so when the recession hits, it becomes "sudden" and "out of nowhere", creating a psychological effect similar to the one experienced at 9-11. When the "what happened", "I'm scared", "I need rescue". "The future is bleak and uncertain" attitude is instilled into the minds of the masses, accepting another government decree that takes away your freedoms in exchange for economic security appears reasonable and many will be willing to accept the transaction.

There is evidence that all-caps text is harder to read. This is because we don't linger on every letter when we read, we skim over the tops of words.

If Ron Paul does not win, I will support him to the end.
Furthermore, we should be looking and paying attention at all the other races--- because we should throw our support to other Ron Paul Republicans Running for Congress and Senate.
Who are these other Ron Paul Republicans? I don't know. Could there be Ron Paul democrats? Certainly!!! Especially if there is an established Big Government Warhawk Republican in office to run against and its easier to run as a democrat. Playing both sides of the Republican--Democrat divide is what makes the NeoCons such a tough opponet. Few can even see that Hillary is a WarHawk. The fact that top NeoCons love her should shock most democrats, but it does not phase thier party loyalty.
We will show our power as a Revolutionary Small Government Constitutionalist movement through the Candidates that WE get into office. We too will be "Party Blind" like the neocons. But most of all, we shall not waver, we shall not comprimise, we shall hold firm to Principle like Ron Paul, and we will focus our Presidential efforts for 2012. Many will try to get our vote, our powerful internet presence behind them, so we can be real demanding of principle, setting high standards of honesty and forth rightness, and be real selective on who we back.
We will grow stronger. I would say by 2012, MSM & the Military Industrial Complex will be less than equal to our power. By 2012, we will have matured and solitified our positions. Fear not, a new Ron Paul will come and rise up and be there for us. We do not know who he or she is yet, but 5 years from now is a lot of time for them to prove their metal. There is no need to panic, feel sad, or fear for the future. We are the future, we are the hope, we are the Love Revolution.
If Guiliania gets the nod to go against Hillary, and come election time 2008 Ron Paul still gets over a million write in votes, you know the Love Revolution will never die...its here to stay.

I don't think Hillary is an anything hawk. That would require personal conviction. She will say and do whatever it takes to get elected. She doesn't have a mind or principles of her own. If she shows Hawkishness it's only because someone told her it will get her more votes. It's very similar to prostitution. She will show you a good time for a vote.

You raise a critical point
You raise a critical point about staying involved in smaller elections. Sovereignty is bottom-up -- individual > family > community > state > nation -- and politics needs to follow the same pattern. Your state and local elections are *critical* to your freedom. What I hope the Ron Paul phenomenon does, above all else, is energize and motivate people to stay involved in politics the rest of their lives. Evaluate your local candidates, treat every election like the presidential race. This requires a substantial commitment to keep yourself educated, but we can all see what happens when people lazily vote along party lines. Party politics is like a cancer, killing America slowly from within.

We haven't had one
primary yet and you are asking a question if Ron Paul doesn't win, I just think that should be asked in February or March when or if that happens, I just think the more positive threads would be better at least before the first primary starts.
I read on here that some supporters think Dr. Paul should get a speech writer, to me that would make him look like he doesn't know how to communicate to his supporters and it would make him look and sound just like the other candidates,plastic and not real like he sounds to us now.
Sorry if you took it bad, I just want to see more positive threads than negative, if everybody likes negative threads I will start entering them too.

If...
I'm not ready to deal with that IF, yet. If the GOP railroads the primaries, I'll be writing RON PAUL on my ballot next fall, if I have to do so.
No matter what happens after that, I won't be leaving the country my anceestors risked their lives to defend. I'll continue to support liberty and pray the effort pays off in my lifetime. I'm still positive about Paul taking the whole show and making this a moot point.

I've written in Ron Paul the last four presidential elections. I have no guilt. I did not vote for the lesser of evils. I voted for hope. I will continue to do so.

I think he might have a better chance as an Independent than a Republican. I talk to plenty of people that rule him out just because he is a Republican, but am not sure how they'd react if he ran as an Independent.

I am 100% serious. If Ron Paul does not win, I have already purchased a house in Costa Rica. I bought this home for retirement.....but if RP does not win, and this country countinues this horrible path we are on, and Rudy or Hitlery gets into office....You people are on your own...I am Outta HERE.
