We will never win if we don't do this
Each time we win or lose, we learn something we didn't know before that makes us better prepared for next time. The biggest lesson I think we should take away from this is that we need to make our message more palatable to the average American.
Look at Barack Obama. He is going to bring socialism into this country and he did it not by lying or detailing exactly why Marxism is better. He did it by saying, "tax cuts for the middle class" instead of "redistribution of wealth." He said "cut wasteful spending" instead of "I have to cut programs or we will go bankrupt." Now everyone is subconsciously praising socialism.
Currently, our message is too complex and abrasive for the average American. We really need to keep this in mind as we continue to change minds and get our guys in office. Or it just plain won't happen.
The Truth Must Be Told
The electorate is made of "sheep", "children", because they are swamped in LIES. We CANNOT win by watering down, but we must deal with each person we "educate" AT THEIR OWN LEVEL.
You CANNOT AND MUST NOT talk about "the International Bankers Conspiracy" to anyone who is not ready to hear it, but most people are WIDE OPEN to understand the mechanism of fractional reserve banking and money "creation", etc, used by the Federal Reserve and all central banks, if explained to them in straightforward and respectful (to them) terms. Do not call the Federal Reserve evil, people are not ready to hear that, instead explain the mechanism, who generates money from nothing (THIS is inflation), who spends it first, the effect on prices by the time each of us at the tail end gets anything, IF we get anything, the deterioration of our savings, etc.
Guess what? Once people understand the mechanism, most will draw the correct moral conclusions!
Do not disparage others who have not drawn your conclusions, because it takes TRUTH OVER TIME to convert others. Every time you give someone something they don't understand, they first resist, but this is only because they are BEGINNING to resolve the conflicts with their pre-existing beliefs.
In order to teach others it is first necessary to understand it ourselves. Can you logically and correctly define your terms? Liberty? Rights? Justice? Coercion? Etc. Not one in ten within the Ron Paul movement can even define the terms, instead we are using a bunch of loose, vague, uncongealed notions that are easy to defeat. EDUCATE YOURSELF FIRST! THINK! Do not accept lies or sloppy notions! Be your own harshest critic on any idea you conceive. Use Logic and make it bullet proof. Do not simply bulldoze their mental landscape, but plant seeds of Truth in the minds of everyone you encounter.
Truth, Persistence and Patience, just like Ron Paul, will eventually win and it is the quickest way because otherwise we cannot win.
I don't agree
As long as the American people want to be lied to and marketed to then they are still not willing to take the message of personal responsibility and live their own lives. Obama is in a position to lie because he has every intention of running everyone's lives. We can't do that because our philosophy demands that people have individual freedom and choose their destiny. You jus t can't spoon-feed freedom!

How do we convince people to 'fight for their liberty' when they don't even realize they've lost it?
This is what the '29 stock crash and ensuing depression was all about. It was to convince folks that they needed government to take care of them. At that time people had great and strong suspicions of government. The 'depression' ploy worked very well. These days when anything happens most people walk around with a shocked expression saying "What is the GOVERNMENT going to do about THIS???"
Currently they're into fear tactics...if you don't vote for me...give me all your money....give me four years of military service...etc and so on..the blackmail list is a very long one. People are becoming conditioned to 'fear thinking'. Frightened people can't think.
We have to chose a central theme..and tell the people how believing this or doing that will HELP them. It's always a 'what's in it for me' line of thinking. Tax cuts, end the war...free health care...jobs forever..two car garage with new cars in it...Actually Hoover did run on 'a chicken in every pot' sort of saying.... Study how changes have been brought about before...we have a pretty large agenda for anyone to swallow all at once...I mean...end the fed...stop the IRS...etc...very very scary to some people. as they've become accustomed to thinking of the Fed and the IRS as having great great power.
So..what IS in it for THEM?? Figure that out...and work around that theme. When you've got their attention is soon enough to move on with the rest of the agenda...and yes...we need a leader...someone thoughtful...someone humorous...intelligent...fiery...handsome doesn't hurt....Adam Kokesh!!

Our rights in this country have not been removed all at once. They have been slowly diminished. One by one. To say we need to change all these laws all at once. Scares the public. They are used to what at one time would have been a radical. If you would take a person from 1901 and put that person from what they new of the laws back then. Setting them into the atmosphere of todays laws. They would tell you to go to hell. Our freedoms have been slowly removed.
So when you speak to someone today. Wanting to change their laws drastically. They do see us as radical. Change has to come slowly. So it can be accepted. This is the Fabian Socialist agenda.

I believe this is what has been transpiring here in the United States. Slowly our laws rae being usurped. The socialist agenda put forth. The republican party should be called the Fabian Party. Change when they are in power comes slow. The democratic party is more for the faster steps to come about change.
They thing about it is. Right now we do not really have time for slow change. We need fast change to get get the country back on track. So how do we do it without scaring the chattle? We need a media base. To expound the views to the sheeple. They are being led to slaughter and don't realize it. How sad.
We need to start a corporation. To 1st go out and buy an old style radio station. To start bring out the views to wake up the public. We need to join together pony up and buy one. They are on the computer now. But there are so many choices on the computer for people to look at and see. How do you captivate more people on the internet. That don't want to in the 1st place seek these venues out? There are not that many radio stations on the dial of a car. Far less than on the internet. This is the only way to captivate the public.
I know people that will not open thier minds to what I tell them about the republicans or democrats. Why. Because they have not heard in on the TV or radio.
Now is the time to JUMP-START the campaigns for 2010 and 2012.
We didn't lose. The ignorant lost. We know what has happened. Personally I think John McCain Has been used as a patsy. To bring about an Obama administration.

alot of what RP said. He told me yesterday that RP was too "radical" and that is why he did not win. Sadly, my son puts his hopes in Obama that he will indeed bring about the change that is needed. Needless to say, our conversation did not go well. But the point is my son is an intelligent critical thinker. He could have been converted with a less abrasive version of the message. It is definitely something to ponder going forward.

Depends on how you define "radical"
If you think of radical as a governing ideal that takes all personal power and dictates your every move, then Obama is radical. But if you think of radical as extreme, then RP is radical by that definition, because our nation has become so inured to the govt. interfering that it would be extremely different o have freedom again.

We need to worry less about politics and more about
cultural influence. America has a long history of individualism, most Americans admire it, but don't associate that belief to political reality. We need to make the idea of freedom commonplace, to present our ideas in the cultural realm, more nuanced and general than simply asking people to accept the political issues we believe in. We need to provide environments that are social and fun where the ideals we stand for are accepted as normal, not shoved down people's throats but picked up through mere association.

I think Obama used association to get tons of votes. So many people think he supports their views when he doesn't. My husband told me today that he heard one person at his work say that Obama wants to pull troops out of Iraq immediately. Another one said that Obama wants to use diplomacy and finish the job in Iraq.

Our message is not too abrasive or complex. It's too quiet, too hidden, too unknown, too muddled.
There's no leadership now...Ron Paul, God bless him, abandoned all pretense of leading us with the formation of the Campaign for Liberty, and he became Dr. Paul, Congressional Guru of Economics. He's making great inroads with the American media and public that way, so let him go. He's on a roll.
We do not have a leader on any level at this point, however, and the post-Rally for the Republic confusion now has us divided into five political parties--the Green Party, the Nader Party, the Constitution Party, the Libertarian Party, and the Republican Party. NONE OF WHICH contain exactly whatever our platform is--as far as I know.
We have people who want open borders for illegal aliens and people who want a fence across the southwest. We have people who are protectionists and people who support globalized free trade. We have people who are religious and opposed to homosexuality, drugs, and abortion--and we have people who, like Penn Jillette, define freedom as "two men having sex on the floor of my office."
Pure chaos. How can the public work with our message when we don't even know what it is ourselves?

This is a "group of independents" which is proving to be quite a challenge to keep together. The reason for this is that we are all so principled we believe that the slightest compromise is morally disgusting. So here's the question: do we compromise together and win or go our independent ways that we believe to be the only right way and lose?
I don't mean compromise on important things, but for example, there are those who want to work through the republican party, like you say and those who want to work through third parties. We have to make a choice here and I don't think we will achieve anything if we don't all come together for one or the other. Ron Paul may not be as strong a leader as he used to be, but he wants us to go through the republican party. Do we come together to work through the republican party and win or go third party and lose? We have to compromise to win. That's the sad reality of it.

What we need to do is avoid galvanizing social issues with no substance.
Gay marriage, for example.
I am not for gay marriage. I am not against gay marriage. I am ambivalent to gay marriage. I invoke the Ninth and Tenth Amendments.
Polygamy. Same thing. Government has no place in the business of marriage.
Other issues, I think should make a firm stand. Immigration is not the single most important issue of our day, but we should oppose Open Borders.
The federal War on Drugs should end. Marijuana should be decriminalized at the federal level.
All federal gun laws, and the gun control agency BATFE, should be abolished.
