Ron Paul for Minority LeaderSubmitted by pastortony on Thu, 11/06/2008 - 10:32
With the great losses suffered by the GOP last night, it is time for new leadership to arise within the party. Ron Paul is the only member of Congress that can bring a new face to the party and a renewed energy to the Republican base. He is the only one who can bring back many of the disaffected conservatives, constitutionalists and libertarians that have left the party over the last few years.
I believe that a coordinated grassroots effort needs to begin so that supporters of Ron Paul can contact each and every Republican member of Congress and urge them to vote for Dr. Paul for Minority Leader. While there are several others in Congress who may be eyeing the position, none of them have the name recognition of Ron Paul. If, for example, Mike Pence were elected Minority Leader, only a passing reference to it would be mentioned in the news and the average person would not pay any attention to it, because while Pence is well known by political junkies he is virtually unknown outside his own district. Conversely, Ron Paul has been on the national stage. Average Americans who know little about politics know who Ron Paul is. They also know that Ron Paul does not represent business as usual, but instead represents a return to the conservatism of Reagan and Goldwater.
For this and for many other reasons, the only man to take the GOP in a new direction and repair its tarnished image is Ron Paul. I urge each and every one of you to contact as many GOP representatives as possible. Contact every major media outlet and political blog and let them know your opinion. With a strong grassroots effort, we can be victorious in our fight to restore the Republic.
I am looking for some people that can run with this and take this message viral. If you are skilled with Facebook, MySpace, etc and/or have access to the old moneybomb email lists please post here so that this can get started. We only have until January to make the impact needed. Wikipedia has a list of every newspaper in the country so that "letters to the editor" can be written. I am sure there is a good list of conservative blogs out there, and of course we need a list of congressional contacts as well. If you are able to organize all this information so that the grassroots can have a step by step targeted plan then please let me know.
