Oh my God. I just realized why there is no other option than taking over the Republican party...

First, let me start out with a story I heard from an economics professor. There are only two major airline corporations. They keep having to lower and lower their prices in order to compete for customers and risk going bankrupt. So one day, the president of airline A calls the president of airline B. He says, "If we keep lowering our prices, we will surely go bankrupt!" So president of airline B says, "Well then, what do you suggest we do?" President of airline A responds, "If we work together, we can raise our prices higher and higher and we'll BOTH be rich."

The reason I bring this up is because this is exactly what the people at the top of the RNC and DNC have been doing. What the government calls monopoly in the free market, they allow in politics. They have been working together for the common goal of facism. Meanwhile, their party grassroots have no idea and neither do the rest of the American people. Ron Paul knows that we will fall to facism if we don't take over the Republican party. The more we fight about splitting off into the libertarian party, constitution, independent, etc., the closer we get to facism and that is exactly what the two parties want. I am begging you. Please fight through the Republican party and stopping fighting amongst yourselves. We don't have much time left and you're the only ones who know it.

"Time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their country"

I'm doin my part.

Advised my mom to run for council... and she won. I have been appointed District Chair and have been rubbin elbows with many in the NJ Republican Party. Total Democratic State... but what else can I do? Republicans control our our council now. They are holding off spending a million for a new park and are considering my idea of community gardens... to grow food and flowers and stuff like that. They love the idea because the kids can get involved and the old timers that are retired will have something to do.

I'm disappointed in you guys

I feel like nobody even read my post. All I can hope for is that when they're sending people off to concentration camps you will realize how counterproductive splitting up is. You can't even run a successful third party UNLESS you get the two corporate parties to do something about it! You should be signing up to be a precinct leader at C4L. But no, you'd rather argue about technicalities.

As for me, I will not spend one penny on anyone who is a RP supporter who is running third party. I WILL however, max out for anyone who is a RP Republican.

If you believe in dissidents

If you believe in dissidents being thrown in concentration camps, why do you also believe in the viability of the GOP?

I can recognize a crooked game when I see one--at a crooked table, in a crooked casino. I do not fantasize that I can beat the crooked dealer and walk out of the crooked casino a rich man.

By the way, they couldn't care less about losing. They knew it was coming. Turn on the radio and listen to them yakking about "Sarah Palin 2012".

You are right about some of us ignoring your post by concentrating on third parties. I'm sorry. Everyone who continues to work within the GOP and tries to bring Ron Paul's liberty message to it deserves our thanks.

What Did Election Day Teach Us?

What did Election Day teach us? Assume all the votes were 100% real.

1. Even with a perfect candidate who brings people together, we can't win the GOP presidential nomination. Ron Paul was the perfect GOP candidate at a time when the party needed him. He lost, not because he did anything wrong, but because the GOP base is stubbornly out of touch with the rest of society. That's why they picked McCain, and that's why McCain lost. The party base is pro-state and anti-Liberty.

2. We are a minority. We need to stop this fantasy about "taking over" this or that. You can't take over in a nation of 340 million people with a soft group of five to ten million people--only 100,000 of which are willing to be activists.

3. The Libertarian Party is in steep decline. The party has split up over Bob Barr's misbegotten candidacy, and is going to shrink in size in the future. Soon it will be virtually defunct, like the Reform Party and 132 other third parties.

4. The Constitution Party platform scares people off. I hate saying this--I voted for Baldwin and I admire Howard Phillips. But it's the simple truth.

Brush aside conspiracy talk and discussion of 'the elites'. The news media is predominantly made up of people who are cosmopolitan, liberal, and politically correct. They aren't going to embrace the Religious Right. Hence no mainstream media coverage. No mainstream coverage = An ineffectual political party lost in the woods.

5. Ralph Nader is in decline, and unlikely to make much more of a mark. He's eminently likeable. He's tough. He's principled. The problem is, he's too far Left to be palatable to small "L" libertarians. And doctrinaire liberals will vote Green or Democrat instead.

6. The Green Party doesn't even belong on our radar screens for reasons that aren't even necessary to cite.

Where does that leave us? What are our lessons...conclusions? Discuss.

Ross Perot got almost 19% of

Ross Perot got almost 19% of the vote when he ran for President in 1992. Later, Clinton and Dole changed the debate rules for 3rd parties, lessing any 3rd party impact. But what was it about Perot had that helped him garner this 19% vote total? Maybe we should be studying Perot's run for office. I realize he was a billionaire but was his wealth the only reason for his success?

Many people like Jesse Ventura. But with the current mindset of the American sheeple, it is doubtful to me that even he could make a run for it.

Ross Perot was a success for one reason.

Citizens believed that, because he was a very rich man, he could win the contest.

Citizens believed. That's all that mattered.

You might be right on

You might be right on that.

I think people won't believe us without knowing what we know. We need to spread the wealth of knowledge this movement has.

Elected offices:

Elected offices:

  1. Federal
    • President
    • House of Representatives
    • Senate
  2. State (varies from state to state?)
    • Governor
    • Representatives
    • others?
  3. Local (varies from state to state)
    • County positions
      • Sheriff
      • etc
    • Township
      • ?
    • City
      • Mayor
      • etc

I know that's not everything, but I don't know enough about this to know what else is included.

Obviously it takes more centralized resources to campaign at the federal level, but it affects the entire country. Any success here may help give credibility to our movement on the local level.

It takes less resources to campaign at a local level, but it benefits only that part of the country directly. Any progress at a local level may give credibility to our movement, potentially giving momentum to the state and federal level portions of our movement. Third-party candidates likely have a better chance of success at this level as opposed to the federal and state level.

I actually think third

I actually think third parties are best for the higher offices. Although at low level local positions, third parties might also work.

The large middle should be Republican or Democrat.

You might be right about

You might be right about third-parties and higher offices. I still haven't totally committed to pure third-party, but the more I think about it, the more I lean more and more that way.

I guess I'm trying to determine whether it's possible to succeed using the Republican (or even Democrat) party without compromising principles in the process more efficiently than it would be going third-party. I haven't determined that it is possible to do so (at least consistently). I think every compromise on the principles of liberty sets us back (or at least slows our forward movement).

Ron Paul obviously made it, but not initially in a normal election (it was a "special election", and he said that's probably the easiest way to do it). Once you've made it, then it's a bit easier to get re-elected. Plus people believed different things back in the 1970's compared to today.

According to Rush Limbaugh

the GOP has been the victim of Identity Theft by the Paulites in the party. While he started out as a small-government conservative, he quickly began promoting pro-business big government in order to feed his lust for greed and fame. He and his army of Neo-conned ditto-heads are determined to take it back, and they have the resources to keep us out the way like they did during the primaries.

Add in the obvious hatred and mistrust that the voters showed for the GOP on Tuesday, and I'd say it's a lost cause. I don't see much hope of being able to 'return it to it's roots' - I think our efforts would be much better served distancing ourselves and letting the party implode and fade into irrelevance.

The time is ripe for the emergence of a solid Third Party. If a small airline with good backing can come in and offer comparable service for lower prices, the two big airlines' monopoly will fail. Competition is KEY. We have to start by changing the rules that keep the two-party monopoly in place.

can

you point me to where he said that?
heard him complain about "moderate" republicans and "rockefeller" republicans but haven't heard anything about "paulite"...

a third party would

a third party would work *only* if we didn't have to play it within their electoral college two-party game.

That's is why I don't listen to Rush

I understand to form a Third Party, but it needs money and influential people that the MSM respects. It can happen if a major party like the Republican split apart if comes down to true conservatives vs neo-conservatives. At the grass roots level go into key position of the party will only help the cause.

Also join the Campaign for Liberty, if you haven’t yet and search there for what you can do on the local level. The time is now plan and act to make real serious change.

The economics professor story is false

I get the gist of what you are saying about the RNC and DNC, but this little story from your economics professor is suspect - or at least the two company presidents are wrong. Constant lowering of prices in competition will not cause bankruptcy for either of them. It allows them to sell more product. If you look at the electronics industry, prices keep dropping (even with the inflationary dollar!) and yet they keep getting richer, and we see more and more electronics companies every day. If the airlines were truly free market, without the regulations and subsidies, it would happen in that industry too.

Register as Republican and Vote for Ron Paul

Actually, you are both wrong.

It depends on the elasticity of demand, ie, how responsive demand is to price. Let's say you're one of two pharma companies that makes a drug that is the only known treatment for a terminal disease. If the price goes up, your profits will go up--people would rather spend more on your drug than die. Now let's say you are one of two companies that makes Cola. If prices rise, people will just drink orange juice instead, and your profits will go down.

Elasticity depends on lots of factors, but the biggest ones are availability of substitutes and whether the item is a luxury like jewelery or an essential item like basic food and clothing.

If somebody sets a stink bomb

If somebody sets a stink bomb off in your house, do you leave it forever? All these comments lambasting the GOP are from people who don't remember that it was ours to begin with.

If we take it back, then it would not be foul. During this election cycle, we doubled the amount of Ron Paul Republicans in office. Does anyone not see this as success?

The GOP has never been "ours".

Tell me which President "we" elected. I don't seem to recall anyone.

I can cite several who were destroyers of Liberty, though.
