Quiltingsando's house for sale thread gave me this idea. Some people have already lost their jobs or businesses and others may face this in the future as the economy continues to go sour. Since we come from all parts of the country, I was thinking that this might be a way to post all types of job information and openings. We can try it anyway. » |

Okay, since someone started this thread,
and I live in a depressed county in Wyoming, and unable to leave, I do chair caning, wicker repair, rush, splint, and repair antique rugs and antique quilts. Also do simple and fancy upholstery of all kinds.

You also need your very own website plus business cards. Leave or mail your the cards to quilt shops, quilt shows, antique shops, grocery stores, etc. Posting here was just a start. People who live in larger towns are looking for people with your talents. Your skills are rare.
As you could see my website skills are pitiful,
and I can't afford to hire someone to do it for me. Are there any inexpensive, easy to use website software around. I made that horrible website for my husband with a very old mspub. And had to have my nephew figure out how to upload it to a hoster. I do have cards and send them to businesses around the state.

Maybe I can help you out with a creating a website (for free as a gift, assuming you're not asking for a lot to be done. I'm not working, but I still don't have a ton of consistent free time). You'd of course still have to pay for the hosting service at godaddy or wherever you want it hosted.

I have had to drastically
I have had to drastically downsize my life recently. I moved to Woodstock Ga and am in desperate need of a job. I have worked in a hotel for the last 3 years. I am also a certified Dell and Gateway tech. I have experience in restaurant work and customer service. I can commute to Atlanta but would prefer the Woodstock/Kennesaw area. I can work any day any hours. I also have great marketing experience. Please please please NO NETWORK MARKETING suggestions.
Many businesses are working with skeleton crews and are NOT hiring. I can clean houses too.

There are lots of work in certain parts of Wyoming:
of course only if people are able/willing to move there. In the Rawlins, Evanston, Rock Springs, and Gillette areas, because of the oil/gas/minerals work being done there. I hear that waitresses do very well there. Shortage of housing, maybe, though, which is good for builders.

I know of two sisters who live in Iowa City, a college town, and by word a mouth only, they have almost more jobs than they can handle cleaning houses. They make $25 an hour and pretty much set their own hours.

Is anyone interested in going into the recycling business?
I am talking about the actual business of making items out of recycled materials? It would take a number of us to make it work, but it could be a completely "employee owned" company. Think about it.......glass or plastic or paper or tires...................what are the possibilities? I live in SC. The weather is great. The beach is close by, The food is fantastic. Anyone?????
