What $35 means to me

0 votes

For $35, I can:
Buy 2 ink cartridges (black and white, I stopped rpinting in color months ago) and a ream of paper to print fliers to take to my neighbors.

Drive to town twice and participate in a protest, meetup, etc. I no longer use my car for anything else, except twice a month I go for supplies.

Get me to and back from the County Central Committee, where I am a member. I live in a rural county, the next meeting will take me over an hour to drive to (one way.)

Get me to the State Central Committee meeting, where I also am a member.

Pay my phone bill for one more month. (I do not have a cell, just used a "pay as you go" for the State and RNC.) I would have let the phone and internet go long ago, but I don't know how to stay informed and active without them. I also am trying to start an ebay store to see if I can generate some FRNs that way. It is hard to know what to do sometimes, we could buy our way out of the contract and not have this monthly bill any more, but look at what we lose.

Buy fabric so I can try to begin to barter as a seamstress.

Or, as many have suggested, I could go upgrade my C4L account. If I do that, I will have access to... information I gave them. I am the one who WENT door to door and talked to my neighbors. My husband IS the elected, REAL "precinct leader" in this precinct. And I will be tied into an organization that tied my hands at EVERY turn during the campaign. This state would have been a victory for the good doctor, back in the primaries, but the people here on the ground could not get ANY real assistance from the people who now run the C4L.

I am glad the economy seems to have left so many of you unscathed, but you need to get it through your thick heads: Many of us saw this election as THE LAST HOPE and made "bad financial decisions" because of it. We tried, we gambled, we lost the election and now we will be paying the price. I did not ask them to pay me to work for them, I did not try to sell them the very valuable information I have gathered, but I am do the point where I count EVERY dollar. Yes, $35 is a LOT of money to me right now. For those of you who consider it pocket change, please mail me a check.

I am not being a smart ass. If the money isn't there and you want to help the C4L I will send the check. Same goes for SSgT_AF.

Another math problem just came to me

If I had taken every dime I spent to run my husband's campaign, canvas, protest, educate, attend conventions, make fliers, what have you, all the way to getting us to the RNC.... If I had just written a check for all of it, it would ALMOST cover one month of Lew Moore's salary.
I do not bring this up to get sympathy points, I am a REALIST and this is a HUGE problem. The campaign mobilized an army of willing but POOR people - they appear to be CLUELESS what to do about it. They continue to dun us for money LONG past the point where we can spare it. We offer to volunteer our time and talent, and the best we can get is second class status. If we want to harness our "human resource" we have to be smarter. Everyone can beg for money, but we will NEVER "run with the big dogs" - they have a PRINTING PRESS on their side. If we keep circulating FRNs to "win" we will NEVER win, but we will continue to feed the beast.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

I'm sorry, but I'm lost.

What is the $35 all about?

I was pretty reluctant to pay the $35 too

I really thought Ron Paul's campaign for president was our last chance too. But we're still around and martial law hasn't been declared yet. So I figure that with what little time we've been blessed with, we should give ourselves that second last chance. We should do everything we can possibly think of to save what's left of our freedoms. That's when I realized- $35 is not a high price to pay for the chance of regaining my freedom.

can you conceive of "CANNOT AFFORD $35?"

If I believed I could do MORE good with it by sending it to them, I would in a heartbeat. I HAVE to count EVERY dollar. I ROLLED CHANGE to make my MORTGAGE. I am not "reluctant" - I DO NOT HAVE IT. And since I am on the brink of financial disaster, ALL POLITICAL SPENDING HAD TO STOP. I buy FOOD and GAS and TRY to pay my bills, and now have a higher minimum payment on my credit card than I can make because I went ALL IN to get to the RNC.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

I am so very sorry ~

I am so very sorry you are suffering financial hardships. Of course you need to take care of yourself first, pau4won. Forget about any political donations at this point. It looks like people here are offering to help you with the C4L membership.

Do you have an extra room that you can rent? Have you gone online and googled: credit card zero percent interest rate ....to see if you can qualify and transfer you balance?

I can conceive of it

It breaks my heart to hear you talk about rolling change to make your mortgage payment because my mother used to have to do that when I was a kid when my father left. I remember all those horrible things. The biggest thing I remember though was that my mother felt so guilty she used to buy me things we couldn't afford. I certainly don't want you to do that with the membership dues. The most important thing for you to do right now is get your bills in order. We will still be around at C4L when you are able to join us. I appreciate that you are still working your butt off to help Ron Paul when you have so much stress going on in your life. It will get better. When you hit rock bottom, the only place you can go is up!

would gladly do it all again ~

I ran and campaigned for County Central Commitee, and was involved in countless revolution activities. I donated over 500. to ronpaul2008.com (had no "extra money" to speak of) and have had to work every Saturday since mid-September to pay for my Rally for the Republic trip from Los Angeles to St. Paul.

...I spent time and money too...and would gladly do it all again, with great pleasure. What an extraordinary experience.

Surely you realize...the game has been rigged against us, but we have to keep pounding, pounding...and break the dam.

Tell me, what other choice do we have?

Question from the poor

inexpensive long distance ~

Ask your phone company for a lifeline rate is you are low income. This phone service will cost about 7 dollars a month.

I cancelled my long distance phone service and got a 99 cent store phone card at the 99 cent store! Whoa...I've even used it to call Canada...and it was especially helpful when we've had to call out-of-state senators and congressmen at critical times. ;-)

You get 99 minutes of long distance calls for 99 cents!

The best deal in town...It has saved me hundreds of dollars.

For anybody who lives in the Eastern part of the USA,

I highly recommend USA Datanet for long-distance phone service. If you don't use it, you don't get billed. You can talk for however long you like and it never exceeds $0.99 per call. I have been signed up for several years. I could get a $10 referrel credit, but am not willing to give my name here... BTW, they also have internet service, but I only use the long-distance telephone service. Check it out:
