Jesus sole purpose in becoming man was to bring the truth ( Himself ) through His words and His works and to become an offering for sin, so that many would believe on Him as their Savior and find forgiveness for all their sins. Without faith in Him, we are still guilty of each and every sin and will pay the eternal price.
The peace He did come to bring was "Peace with God the Father" by believing on Jesus Himself and thereby becoming a child of God.
The sword He brought, was the truth of the Gospel which divides families and friends alike. That truth is very well seen right here on this forum.
All mankind need Jesus as their Savior! ( For all are sinners )

No He Didn't
Jesus did not promote love his number one mission - Repent and turn to God. This is one reason Christians have accepted a roll over for anything from the government. They use Romans 13 and if they just read the chapter, they'd see all government that is godly we listen to but government that is ungodly, we don't.
I ask Christians - If God doesn't want Christians opposing ungodly government then are you saying George Washington was wrong to start the American Revolution?

The number one mission you are talking about is a church idea.
Jesus was a living version of love. Folks ought to view his way more than the words of church leaders laid down after Jesus' time.

The biggest problem - Christians live in the Old Testament. All scripture is profitable - it gives us lessons of what to do and what not. But Jesus Christ came to present himself to the Jews as their Messiah. The Jews rejected him and ordered him crucified. Paul ( a Jew) gets saved and God sends Paul to the Gentiles and the Jews get mad. Paul is the apostle to the Gentiles for the church age. Now - do you live in Old Testament times? No - So why are you promoting Old Testament stuff & the gospels when we live in the church age? That is exactly why Christians have rolled over to government.
You say Jesus is love - yes he is, BUT he is a God of wrath to. When Christ comes back, he is not coming in love (the first time, he came in love and they killed him) he is coming back with fury and that is what Revelation is all about.

What did Jesus do to the money changers in the temple. This war has been waging between us and them for along time. It doesn't matter what you believe. Unless you believe in banks. The money changers are evil. Even Jesus hated them for what they did.

Whenever we see fighting anywhere, whether it is a fist fight or a war such as Iraq, whenever we see deceit and fraud, whenever we see greed and robbery, whenever we see anything that is oppressive etc etc the answer is alway the same and the answer is always this: SIN
The heart of man is deceitful and desperately wicked and if there is no fear of God ( as in America today ) then there will be the vast majority doing whatever is right in THEIR own eyes and so you will get what we have today.....chaos and unrest.
There you have the true answer to your very important question.

People aren't inherently sinful
Sin is a learned behavior. Folks need to focus on teaching ethics to their fellow people, ESPECIALLY their children. We need a return to ethics based on righteous principle. Religion can play a very important role in this, but it is not the only way to ethics.

People are inherently sinful. Once Adam sinned, he was then imperfect (sinful), and everything that came from him is inherently sinful and imperfect, even his descendants (us).
Perfection does not come imperfection.
You Couldn't Be More Wrong
We are ALL born with sin! That is the truth of the Bible and it is very evident when you see a very young child who will not obey his or her parents and so after Mommy says "no" you will see the child attempt it once more. Children DO NOT need to be taught to sin, they are born in sin and need to be taught what is right and what is Godly.
There is NONE upon the earth that doeth good, no not one! They are all corrupt and full of sin.
That is why God sent His Son into the world so that those who would believe on Him would be saved from their sins.
You can argue all you want with me, but you cannot argue with God without being both ignorant and foolish.
Let me ask you a question if I may......Who exactly is it that says it is wrong to kill, who exactly is it that says it is wrong to steal, who exactly is it that says it is wrong to lie or cheat, who exactly is it that says it is wrong to have sex with anothers wife? Is it man that has made these laws?
Ha! No, if it were up to man, he would say all these things are just fine.
No, it is God Himself who tells us that these things are not only wrong, but they are sinful and everyone who does these things ( just among some of the sins of life ) will give an account on the last day.
Are you ready to meet God in all your sins?
If not, then it is time to turn from your sins and turn unto the Lord for forgiveness and seek His face while you still have the breath of life in you.
Don't wait until tomorrow....it may be too late.
