Gary Johnson or Mark Sanford 2012? ideas?

1 vote

Its done. Gary Johnson 2012 has more facebook friends than Sanford 2012
by a factor of more than 5 to 1. If it is any indication
An excited and spontaneous following isnt something anyone can make happen. Not that many are excited about Sanford especially after endorsing McCain & attending the bilderberg meeting.
I myself was rooting for Walter Jones. I really wasnt so Johnson excited because social conservatives may not like one of his newfound positions(marijuana advocacy), but social conservatives never supported Ron Paul anyways. At least the majority
so Im jumping on the Johnson bandwagon already.
If you like Johnson then lets expand his facebook support more

Now can Ron Paul endorse Johnson early enough so that we start this already

no brainer!

Ventura / Johnson or vice versa ....

Gary Johnson all the Way!

Gary Johnson did MORE as Governor than Sanford. What has Sandford done that is so revolutionary? What radical thing has he said or even advocated?

Indeed!

you know for the whole GOP Gary Johnson would also be much better than any of the other, including Mark Sanford. Johnson would make the strongest appeal to Independents, minorities (with his libertarian stance, especially the drug war that affects them disproportionately negative) as well as women. He is more experienced, more handsome looking and kinder than Sanford and brings NM and surrounding CO etc. to the table, whereas SS is a safe GOP state since decades.
Sanford is a strong fiscal conservative, having demonstratively held pigs to symbolize the spending addiction. Johnson however beats him on this having transformed the economy of a blue state into the black and being elected for two terms with being "Gary Veto". Also, only Johnson (apart from Dr. Paul) is the one candidate most Libertarians (capital L) can get behind.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

Scouting who to follow is fine but leading is better.

I spent Thanksgiving explaining eonomics to in-laws, showing them the 'Peter Schiff was right' video and connecting Schiff to Ron Paul, the true visionary. Johnny Appleseed today, bountiful harvest later, after President Obama's economic and foreign policies fail. We need more than 50 million votes to gain the presidency. Thomas Jefferson could run for us in 2012 and we'd still lose... a sea change in the mindset of the electorate is the only way to win, and it begins with us, every day.

The first 5 million supporters of Dr. Paul are 'early adopters.' The next 10 million will require a modified approach.

You can also add that Dr. Paul specifically invited Johnson to speak at the R4R, as he consider him as a successor, and also in case something happens to Dr. Paul. I can't see how any of the other speakers can be seen as a political successor to Dr. Paul. Ventura is no successor to Dr. Paul in the GOP
If the GOP nominates Johnson, Ventura may just break his rule and endorse Johnson, as they know each other from their time as governor.

here we agree my friend

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul

I'm leaning towards...

1. End the Fed Nov 22nd

2. Who knows what other actions and civil disobedience campaigns yet to come....

3. Congress 2010

First things First - It's way to early to be speculating about possible presidential nominees - re-read Ron Paul's the Revolution a Manifesto and start small. And are you serious about who you want the nominee to be - or just wishing? - get involved in a party if your serious - from the sidelines your just a spectator.

“There should not be hostility toward those who seek opportunities in any party. The goal is to spread the message in every way possible. As a matter of fact, if the ideas didn’t invade all political factions, it would not be a true revolution.” - Ron Paul

Yes, but....

"First things first", yes. However, the key to winning anything is $$$. If we can all get behind someone now, imagine what kind of moneybombs can be collected over the next 4 years. Also, imagine the press that would come from someone raising a few million so early. It's good marketing and the public might just pay attention. IMHO

I agree.

This all comes down to money. To capture the Presidency we will need at least $100 million. Possibly $150 million.

That's doable, if we mount a public relations campaign on the Internet very soon. It can be done, in my opinion.

There are only two problems.

1) I don't see anyone as inspiring as Ron Paul among the choices, and it's very unlikely Ron Paul will run again.

2) We will face huge hurdles and challenges based on party, whether we go Republican or Third Party.

Mark Sanford

I like Sanford because a while back when the budget was 400 million below what it should have been he refused to raise taxes and instead started cutting a whole lot of crap. Although I am still curious about his foriegn policy.

Foreign policy?

Last November I remember a lot of talk about how great Sarah Palin was and that she would be a great VP for Ron Paul. Then, after McCain's picked her for his VP, we found out that she is a warmonger. Before any talk about Johnson or Sanford goes further, how do they stand on the Bush/McCain's ideas on foreign policy?

Johnson was the only Republican Governor not to endorse Bush

Johnson was the only Republican Governor not to endorse Bush in 2000
Johnson also endorsed Ron Paul in 2008. Johnson also attended Ron Paul's rally for the Republic Nuff said

My two favorite speakers at

My two favorite speakers at the R4R were Ron Paul and Lew Rockwell. My least favorite speaker was Gary Johnson. I just listened to the speech again to try and determine why I didn't like the guy. Except for his self congratulations for vetoing a bill regarding Qwest Communications, I couldn't find anything else I disagreed with. Perhaps he will grow on me. As for right now, he reminds me of a slick Mitt Romney type. Sorry.

Mark Sanford for sure

He is a Patriot!

wrong. He endorsed McCain.

wrong. He endorsed McCain.

You can't win without the party behind you.

Sanford did not endorse McCain until after the primaries. I believe he endorsed Mcain in 2000 but not in 2008 primary. I think that says a lot.

Johnson's flamboyance

Johnson's flamboyance sometimes spills over into his politics, as when he said that wife-beaters should be "soaked in honey, staked on a red ant hill in Texas, and shown on national TV." He once suggested planting microchips in the brains of criminals. As for abortion, he's one of those politicians who say they're personally against it but wouldn't be comfortable outlawing it-yet local pro-lifers love him. "He backs every piece of legislation we're for," says Dauneen Dolce of the Right to Life Committee of New Mexico. That includes "parental consent," "informed consent," and bans on assisted suicide assisted suicide, partial-birth abortion partial-birth abortion and Medicaid-funded abortion. Johnson didn't win the group's endorsement in 1994, but got it four years later".

A serious man as well as a free spirit, Johnson speaks with the earnestness of an infomercial actor. His speeches sound like pleas propelled by force of logic, as if he genuinely doesn't understand how reasonable people could disagree with him if they just spent enough time thinking about the subject. His remarks can turn amusingly Socratic, with Johnson asking himself skeptical questions and then providing sharp answers".

http://www.thefreelibrary.com/The+New+Mexico+Maverick:+Gov.+...

In 2000 he was the only governor to endorse Steve Forbes for president. I know Dr. Paul also supported Forbes then and Forbes campaigned for Dr. Paul in his district, when Dr. Paul was up against the Democrat turned Republican Greg Laughlin, and Laughlin was supported by Bush senior and junior in the primary, Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, the NRA etc!

If only Steve Forbes could

If only Steve Forbes could be the millionaire we need to make our message mainstream!

defe07 actually Johnson dosent need Forbes. He is very wealthy

A self made multi millionaire who has more than 1000 employees
he didnt take a single donation when he ran for Governor. He self funded using his own money.
just what we needed. A rich candidate
