Flu Vaccine

My son and daughter-in-law are expecting their first child in December. We are very excited about the first grandbaby!! My son asked my hubby and me to get a flu shot this year...he doesn't want us to get the flu and get the baby sick after she is born. I am very opposed to getting a flu vaccine (or any vaccine), but I don't want to create a negative situation with my kids....I never had the flu shot when I was expecting babies--I believe infants have higher immunities to illnesses when they are newborns..is this correct? Any thoughts?

I didn't get a flu shot.... but only because I'm lazy.... then I got the flu. It sucked. Now I'm finally over most of it, but my ear feels like it has a cotton ball jammed in it, which is very annoying and uncomfortable.

Do not let your daughter in law get the standard flu shot! If she absolutely must have one please try to persuade her to seek out a thimerosal-free flu shot.
Most flu shots contain a large dose of mercury. This is a powerful neurotoxin. Remember the warning about mercury in fish. It is much more dangerous to have it injected into your body. Much of the mercury becomes trapped in the brain where it can do a lifetime of damage.
If you can convince her try to get her to avoid the shot and boost her daily intake of Vitamin D throughout the winter. She needs at least 4000 (4 thousand) units per day.
DON'T EVEN GET A MERCURY-FREE DEATH-SERUM !!!!!

The mercury/thimerosal in vaccines is only a fraction of the problem.
It's absolutely a dangerous neurotoxin, but please don't be fooled that mercury-free vaccines are any safer.
Likewise, don't ever allow certain groups to tell you that vaccines can be "greened".
Even if the thimerosal is removed, autism, cancer, diabetes, allergies, lupus, SIDS, SBS, crohn's, asthma, etc WILL still occur.

First of all,
they don't know what flu will strike each year - they just put some poisons together and call it "flu vaccine". then they lace it with a dose of Cancer, I think that is N51 or something like that.
Second, ALWAYS know when the govt. or the old media statists tell you one thing, the opposite is the truth. There is always a "little" ring of truth to their stories to fool you more.
Now, when you hear the next lie about the "flu epidemic", that is their last shot as scaring you to get the shot.
For me, NOT now, NOT tomorrow, NEVER!
BTW, they now are drug pushers with statins too. Some idiot wants to drug children, and all adults, whether high cholesterol or not; put in in drinking water, along with the other poisons like fluoride and cholrine.

What you really should do
is teach them the real EVILS of ALL vaccinations, not just the flu shot!
There is so much PROOF out there regarding the poisoning of our children, and everyone with the flu shots.

I'm struggling too
I am 10 weeks pregnant, and my midwife strongly suggested I get the flu shot. I have never had the flu shot, and I don't think I want to get my first one while I am pregnant with my first child. I am generally a very healthy individual (maybe sick 1-2 times in the last 7 years), and I have been taking extra care of myself lately. So I decided to do some research, and I found a whole bunch of government and health agencies saying it is important to get the vaccine because even though having the flu won't hurt the baby, the possible complications (pneumonia) could. And I found a whole bunch of info about why NOT to get the shot (dangerous additives, no research on vaccine effects on fetuses, links between vaccines and neurological damage, etc).
I was pretty confident in my decision to not get the shot, then I got a cold, and it sucks! I never get the common cold. Could my immune system be weakened because of my pregancy? Do I want to risk getting even sicker if I get the flu? So I am still debating the decision, but still leaning toward no shot. It is a hard choice I will have to make. Also, a baby's first immunity comes from breast-milk, so they are only protected as long as the mother is breast-feeding.

Heck, even go to the Feed Store and get some B12 and buy a 25 cent 2cc syring and have a fake nurse give you a shot in front of him. 2) Tell your Son to Go to Hell and ask him does he hate you so much that he wants to give you Alzheimers. What is next is he going on a vigilante spree to protect his new son. Get upset (wink) start crying, run out of the house and take off in your car, turn off your phone. Like a grandma hissy fit, go on a vactation for a few days with your phone unplugged. Play hardball. Sonny will need Grandma and get over it.
3) Get the shot and lose a part of your memory and end up a drooling vegitable who can't remember your NEW GRANDSONS NAME..
4) ** 2nd Choice..Great Fun and completely disfunctional...Every time your son brings it up, slap him in the face and threaten to remove him from the will and remove all photos of your son from the house as a phycological punishment. Yes , use love and acceptance as weapons. Your son is trying to kill you out of ignorance. Ignorance is a weapon of your son, use a weapon of your own. Hey, Guilt and Emotional Manipulaiton Work..
5) Rationally explain that the Flue Vaccine is mixed with mercury and even if not does more harm than good and that you will under no circumstances get the flu shot. ALSO, GET ON HIS BUTT ABOUT EVERY LITTLE THING. NAG THE HELL OUT OF HIM ABOUT ALL THE UNSANITARY THINGS HE DOES , Even going out to Wal-Mart touching a cart and then touching the Baby is MUCH MORE DANGEROUS THAN being around a Grandma who hasn't had the flu shot poison.
Tell him when He gets his shit together you'll consider forcing mercury into your brain to get Alzhiemers so he and his son and take car of you and you all live as one happy family. Then give him the finger.
6) Take a picture of you holding up the middle finger. Write on it. This is what I think of you asking me to get the flue shot... Mail it to your son.

Just tell them
that if you catch the flu you will abstain from being around the baby until you have gotten over the episode...that's what we used to do years ago when there was a baby in the crowd...those who were sick stayed home...and not just for the baby...for others as well. One did not have to run out and get a flu shot...Besides, the flu shot does not protect against the common cold, throat infections, etc. which is just as worrisome when being around infants...
The higher immunization for babies come mainly from mothers who are breast feeding...has that been considered?

My son and I
have had numerous discussions on the harmful effects of vaccines....I gave him videos on the dangers of vaccines. His youngest brother has Aspbergers Syndrome--a form of Autism--which I believe could have been caused by childhood vaccines (If I had only known 17 years ago what I know now). My son is determined to have his child vaccinated and his pregnant wife just had her flu shot and she is 8 months pregnant!! I was stunned....I have sent him articles and he thinks I'm a nut...
My son is an intelligent person, but sometimes I can't figure him out...oh and he voted for Obama....
THis would be a tough stand, but if you can...
Hold your ground. Tell him you love him and understand he is trying to do what he believes is right, but that you must do the same. Promise to take your temperature every time you come to visit, and will not come if you have even a tiny temp or the sniffles. But refuse to risk YOUR health over his ignorance.

I'll stand in line, and have, for flu shots now.
When I was in the Marines, every time some two-bit dictator farted in the world they'd give us shots. My shot card looked like an inner city police blotter. I recall getting multiple vaccinations for the bubonic plague and one shot actually said gold (wtf) ?

Dr. Mercola is right about the dosage of Vitamin D. I was recently diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency. I have osteopenia, beginning stage of osteoporosis. My doctor, an endocrinologist, put me on a daily dose of 4000 IU of Vitamin D. The recommended dosage on the bottle is 1000 IU. I don't think he should be making such a request of you. I refused the flu vaccine when I was pregnant, even though my doctor was pretty insistent about it. I nursed my child for two years to keep his immune system strong. You could always lie I suppose and tell him you did get it. Many people still get the flu even after receiving the vaccine so he would never know, even if you do come down with the flu.
They have high immunity *when they are breastfed*
If they're so concerned about their baby's immunity to germs and viruses around them, I certainly hope the mother is planning on long-term breastfeeding. If they're planning on using formula for part or all of their baby's nutritional needs in her first year or longer, I suggest you point them to this site, which offers lots of good information, including a PARTIAL list of known contaminations of infant formulas -- and that's not even addressing the issue of melamine in the formula (Nestle and others), or rBST hormones that may be present.
Before they ask others around them to adapt to their wishes in order to protect their new little lamb, I should hope they are taking responsibility for doing their own part to insure her health.
Not that my personal experience has a direct correlation to anyone else's, but I spent a total of six years breastfeeding my two kids. They are now 8 and 6 (no, no longer breastfeeding!), and we haven't yet needed to take them to the hospital or doctor for any kind of serious illness, even when we parents had become quite ill with flus and such. Word.
