I’m not against abolishing the FED. The FED has admitted they are a privately held unaccountable corporation printing toxic paper dollars worth about 6 cents to print. They destroy enormous mounds of toxic paper dollars every day to be placed in toxic landfills. The created out of thin air with no real backing toxic paper is only a small percentage of the dollars the FED injects into the system. When the FED is ended what will replace the toxic paper money that the FED produces. Will it be more toxic paper money backed by a national bank that the Congress regulates? Or maybe hand held money will cease to exist and replaced with debit and credit cards or an implanted RFID chip or finger print analyzers or iris scanners that will debit virtual money from our accounts. Will gold, silver and copper have a role to play in the future of our money? By all means abolish the FED, just give me something that I don’t have to put in a bank to buy and sell.

Murray Rothbard talks a little about how the Federal Reserve System can be ended at the end of his book, "The Case Against The Fed" (copyrighted in 1994). He begins in the section "What Can Be Done?" on pages 145 through 151 (the end of the book). He does not get into the "intricate details", however, but has laid out the essential features of doing so, and how it can be done in one quick stroke.

The government, in it's original jurisdiction, needs to be reseated in order for the Federal Reserve to be abolished. This is very close to happening, too: http://teamlaw.org/Government/usmap.htm

Too quick. A better solution would be:

One year of fixed interest rates (at whatever the FED had set at the time). Then ratchet up the interest rate a half a point per quarter until the end of three years (which is 6 points, enough, hopefully to be far above the market interest rate), and then get rid of it.

For this work you might have to impose a somewhat autocratic freeze on all credit card and ARMs that are grandfathered in, but of course, leave individuals to negotiate loans on the free market made after the announcement of the FED restructuring.

The treasury could also freeze the money supply by placing physical expiration dates on currency, while allowing banks an additional 3 month window to exchange old bills, that way we keep exact track of how many bills are in circulation.
