Must decide by mid 2009.

Jesse please talk to Dr Paul.
Dr Paul is everywhere these days. He has time to talk and state some good points. He must be the most popular politician after Obama. He gets to mention major culprits for our economic problems without being called a kook. Lobbyists and the FED. I wish he'd put more emphasis on it though.
He should really take these numerous media opportunities to say that he might run for president again but leave it vague. At least the seed would be planted NOW and could better grow when watered at the right time.
Strike the iron while it's hot, for all our sake.
Not so sure
The moment he starts running again, they will probably stop having him on tv.
One can hope..
..., and demand, that in 2012 Ron Paul will follow through on his commitment given this last go round to 'spend every dime on the campaign' and 'be in it up the convention' because his 'supporters are expecting it'.
I wouldn't "demand" that he do anything - I
would trust and respect his decision about his own campaign. He has a great deal of experience and knows more than we do. If you don't know that then it may be that you've not read and listened to him in depth.
Debbie
Sorry..
...no gods allowed in politics. Promises were made and not kept in 2008. It is the fastest way to lose support. Trust the official campaign again in 2012? No way...
I believe he gained support, not lost it.
I don't disagree with his decision to suspend his campaign in any way - what would have been the point to carry it on after it was clear he would not get nominated? He put all that money to better use starting the CFL and holding the Rally. If he runs again, he will have more support than ever.
Ron Paul 2012
Debbie
The decision..
...to suspend, but not cancel, did nothing but sow confusion among those who were working dilligently from March-April onward in the state caucuses to get involved in the national convention and who once there found themselves in the impossible situation of supporting a candidate whose offical campaign was apparently doing eveything in its power to undercut their activity.
Was it likely that he would secure the nomination? No, but he and his supporters could have had a tremenduous influence on the convention process. The Republican Party was terrified of *any* sign of support for Paul.
This is the logisitics if you will of the situation. There are also the promises made and not kept, either through ineptitude or worse, which destroys trust and can not be easily regained. Was the money, solicited on the promise of going all the way to the convention, put to better use? Very little, if any, was spent on local candidates despite requests for support and the CFL Rally took a big chunk out of the bank. It was a good show.
So, Ron Paul in 2012? Sure, by and large he has the right policies for this country and there is no one on the horizon that beats him right now but let's not be led down the garden path yet again by an incompetent campaign.
Huckabee or Sarah Palin
People with power in GOP will probably nominate ex-minister or hockey mom before they will nominate someone who has record of sticking to the republican principle all his life. Let's face it!!!
I hope the good Dr. runs again, I still have about 25 yard signs and bunch of bumper stickers left...
r3VOLution Continues...
We will be the GOP
If we stick to the game plan, we will be the people in power in the GOP by then.
Do you want to be sure the rules will be followed? Then you need to be in place to make sure they are.
They're setting up Palin as
They're setting up Palin as the standard bearer.
All the more reason for Dr. Paul to consider a party switch, in my opinion. But I respect him and will vote for him in any party he chooses.

The GOP has sunk to an
The GOP has sunk to an all-new low if they continue to promote Sarah Palin over an intelligent choice. I believe they are courting the insane mob our country is becoming.

Truther?
No, sir!

Me too, but he could beat Sarah Palin in
any debate on any issue. She is pretty and younger, but just not that smart and doesn't know the Constitution. She's a politician, and this next election depends on whether the sheeple have figured that out yet, and want more of same, if in a pretty package. She totally backed a loser - John McCain, on a war platform, and now he and Barack are "in talks" - so, again, "meet the new boss, same as the old boss".
She is in favor of the war, and sheeple are getting sick of war: the cost in terms of money, lives, and our ruined image around the world. If they try and re-institute the draft, which Dr. Paul says is entirely possible in order to keep these wars going, then it will make her stance even more unpopular.
I don't think Dr. Paul would run 3rd party for the same reasons he gave this time - too hard to get on ballots and get coverage. I respect him too and would vote for him in any capacity, but I believe he will remain in the Republican party.

If he does stay in the GOP,

The so-called "average
The so-called "average person" sees things a little differently than we do. Our issues can only make sense when they can be reframed as "their" issues. When people can understand how they are hurting in their jobs and pocketbooks in a way that reflects our world view, then they will care about sound money, the Constitution, etc...

Things that need to be faced...
My fist vs. your argument. Sarah Palin is not an idiot (my fist vs. Sarah Palin being able to talk). Ron Paul not taken seriously in 2012 (my fist vs. your prediction). Fist 2, your predictions 0. First round KO. The ref stopped it at .001 seconds into the first! Unprecedented! The argument died as the bell rang...twice!
Ima tell you one thing
sarah palin is definetly not smart. you can tell when you watch her talk
Has the Daily Paul been
Has the Daily Paul been completely overrun by kids and truthers?

It looks like I have a good
It looks like I have a good reason to keep the RP stickers on my vehicles! And don't forget to save those signs. I really hope he does run again in 2012, with the media attention he is getting lately things will definitely be better the second time around now that people know who he is!
Yes, definitely, and I have kept
everything - my signs, bumper stickers, buttons, slim-jim's. I have copies of almost all of the original campaign promo, which is beautiful. I got it at the HQ in Concord. It was much more than we had here locally. I don't even think it would have to be changed, except for the date, and now it would be a lot more real to people, plus now we would have more time to get it out there and circulating around.
Debbie
I really hope he does run again in '12 also, and I
agree with you that the media attention and regular media appearances (on Faux no less) will serve him well. I don't see how Faux could treat him with the same disdain this next time after having him as a regular practically every day on their business and finance shows, and with Cavuto saying that his ratings always go up when Dr. Paul is on his program. And ESPECIALLY when everything they laughed at him for in the '08 campaign is coming true in spades! We will have a big advantage this time!
Dr. Know 2012

The Wheels need to start turning immediately. It takes time to..
The wheels for the next election would need to start turning immediately. Why do you think the GOP is contacting all Ron Paul supporters at every level. They know it takes time to develop a winning campaign run for the presidency. There are much preparations that need to start if Dr.Paul is going to run in 2012.
I have never given up on the message Ron Paul brought to the table for his bid for the presidency. From paving the way for my son being elected a state delegate and now preparing the way for him to be a committeeman this coming election and beyond is only a portion of what I am trying to do to preserve freedom.
Congressman Paul is a "World Wide " name. I believe if he decided to run in 2012, the Revolution that started this past year will only be a drop in the bucket compared to the support he would get from the people all over the globe the next go around.
The integrity of this man speaks volumes. Yes, I realize that there is more then integrity involved in the presidency. However, the words integrity, liberty, freedom, Constitution of the United States, founding fathers, and on and on are quickly being deleted from the political scene. So, the sooner the better for building towards the next election. We need to be much much smarter and not show are hand prematurely.
Let's take advantage of the msm useing Ron Paul phrases and statements he has been saying for years.
I'm not sure about the rest of you, but we fought many many battles this past election. We won some and we lost some. Let's learn from what we did and did not do and apply it to this next election. We must all come together for this mission if we are to be successful.
This past election cycle,
This past election cycle, Ron Paul made the decision to run in January 2007 and the campaign didn't begin to gather real steam until about mid-year. Jesse Benton has indicated that the decision will be made within 6 months - 18 months earlier than before. Plus he already has support to build on. Ron is 73, but is in good health and is reinvigorated from the grind of this past campaign. But a 3 1/2 year campaign run, for a man who will be 77 next election - we are asking a lot. I hope he decides to run and I think he is a man of such conviction and patriotism, and as the economy continues to tank, he feels the responsibility to continue to lead what he has started. The time is now.
I agree, even two years from now is too late.
Ron Paul wins people over once they watch and listen to him.
The greater his fame on the trail, and the longer he disseminates the message, the more impact he will have--we need an answer as soon as possible.

I agree too! As soon as he announces, I think we should launch
another Operation Live Free or Die in New Hampshire, because the last one just did not give enough time for us to do the main activity they wanted us to do - canvas door-to-door. This was said to be the most important and effective activity, yet it is the most time-consuming. Anyone who can should move there for the next 3-4 years and make sure that this time he wins in N.H. It takes a lot of work and even two years from now is too late. I am hoping for an answer as soon as possible.
Debbie
announce now !!!
he is getting a lot of press.

if you build it he will come..........Ron Paul 2012.

It's like the end of the last Indiana Jones
I'm not ready to see anyone else wear the hat quite yet. Potentially you could see a split between Gary Johnson folks and Jesse Ventura folks and honestly, we're not big enough to be splitting into factions and then coming back together as a movement as would happen in a traditional primary process. I don't think anyone else can take his place just yet.
I would speculate the reason they need to decide this early is that Dr. Paul plans on retiring from his Congressional seat. Dr. Paul does not like to miss votes and ditch his congressional duties like everyone else. We all respect that. At the same time voters in Iowa and New Hampshire like to see their candidates early and often. Something has to give. Perhaps they need to decide so early to raise the profile of a possible successor in his CD.
Good analogy! Indiana Jones.
Although Ron Paul reminds me a lot more of Gandalf the Grey...
Truthfully, there isn't anyone to take his mantle yet.
Gary Johnson and Jesse Ventura both have the very important ex-Governor resume, but neither, in my opinion, can connect with voters because of extremes in speaking style. (I.e., Ventura has an extreme speaking style; Johnson has no speaking style.)
Chuck Baldwin is very strong at the podium, but has no political resume. That ensures he has no chance of being elected President.
Until Chuck runs for another office (and I hope he does), he is wasted on the US electorate--which will elect any idiot in the right place at the right time as long as he's been elected Governor, Senator, or has served in the armed forces as a General.
I don't think running actors like Tom Selleck or Mel Gibson or Chuck Norris can work, for the above reason. The public only elects actors after they have become Governors. So regarding celebrities--we don't have anyone ready to run for 2012.
The Libertarians don't really have anyone special (although I certainly hope they have learned their lesson, and go back to nominating people who are not special, but at least principled).
We have very thin choices. There's only one Ron Paul. He should run.

I hope Chuck runs for office too, because he is great and could
help Dr. Paul while eventually becoming a good strong presidential candidate for the future. We definitely need him.
So true: there's only one Ron Paul. He should run. Look what he did in a hastily-put-together (and gloriously spontaneous) 17-month campaign! Imagine what it would be like now, with all the experience that we all have.
I don't think anyone every really gave up the campaign. It is still out there and just took a break. Now that we caught our breath, we re-group, and finish the job!!
Debbie
Does anyone agree with me?
..If Paul runs.. he ought to hire a good speech therapist and get into a proven program soon. He gives a heck of a speech and knows exactly what he wants to say.. but it always seems like he falls a little short in the delivery. I don't know if it's his age or his confidence level. I know you guys know what I'm talking about..
Would anyone here offer him your services??? I feel he'd be humble enough to take someone up on the offer. In this soundbite.. 'sheep-calling' world.. Doc Paul's rambling and stammering will lose much of the population in debates and in his house floor speeches. Still, he could always use more of a sense of urgency.. perhaps more confidence in the message and the deliverance of said message.. I.M.H.O. of course! I know many of you say "but.. that's what I love about Ron Paul".. well that's nice but the rest of the population will compare him to the smooth and savy preacher/politician style of Barack Obama. The good news is that after 4 years of Obama and a looming failed economic sytem.. perhaps our country will actaully be ready for The rEVOLution.
Either way..
I'm sure we can agree that there's very little Paul needs to 'do' to be able to run for office again. We're with ya Doc!
No
I think it is your personal problem.
