question: how long can raw chicken stay in the fridge?
ok i have this raw chicken that i defrosted in the fridge for 5 or 6 days already. can i still cook it & eat it? any ideas?
I was shocked and overwhelmed by the response to this thread. I even had to check if it was maybe stickied lol

Always cook everything on the first run to 160 degree, all reheats to 165 and you'll never contract ecoli. All those millions of pounds of beef that was destroyed was unnecessary and they know it...over 160 degrees ecoli can NOT live.
Always, always use a paper towel over the door knob when you leave a public bathroom. Never touch your face and you should never get a cold.

simply retards spoilage. bacteria does not like to have sex when it is cold....so, it would depend on how much bacteria was present when it was placed in the cooler. 165 degrees for 3 minutes does not just kill e-coli, it kills everything. and this is the essential reason we cook food.
I work on the equipment that both stores and cooks food.
