Bringin Paul to grammie and grandad...
Submitted by Austin4Paul on Tue, 11/13/2007 - 10:52Forgive me if this has been discussed... but it occurs to me that we need to make sure Paul's message is delivered to the more....experienced among us.
Seniors may be easily frightened by miss-info on Paul's ideas on Social Security. We need to preempt and counter such attempts.
There are several retirement communities in my area and often times these places are where polls are set up. I mean, I voted at a retirement community in '06.
So I want to make sure the revolution brings the message to these places and to this significant voting bloc. We can drop dvds in their media rooms. Probably get away with putting the dvds directly into the players... leaving slim-jims, etc behind...
Anyways... apologies if this is a road often traveled... Let me know if I'm repeated our efforts here. Also looking for suggestions on appropriate DVD/videos for this particular demographic.

i'm going to wear my Ron
i'm going to wear my Ron Paul button at thanksgiving, and probably get in a big fight with my air force grandfather. He made fun of me on my Kucinich support 4 years ago and will continue so no doubt. He's probably a McCain man...but I will remain vigilant. Much more educated this time around

We can only win if we get
We can only win if we get most of the seniors votes. They are very reliable voters. We need to assure them that SS and Medicare will not be cut. Dr. Paul is only planning a new self directed retirement program for the younger generation.
Tonight Show
I know that many of these people watch the Tonight Show. My grandmother usually only watches the monologue and the headlines segments, then turns off and goes to bed unless there is someone on she really wants to see. Perhaps putting the Tonight Show segment on a DVD and playing it for them would be a way to reach them. During his interview, he mentions that his plan is the only one that will save Social Security for those who are now dependent on it while giving younger people the opportunity to get out. I think that the Tonight Show interview as a whole would play especially well to those with more life experience.

bringin Paul to Grammie
While I find your tone pretty condescending, I agree that this is a demographic that is important and harder to reach at this stage of the campaign because of seniors' more limited use of computers. I'm about to start working on some ideas for our meetup to pursue this. Any (non-condescending) ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to be away from my computer most of the day, so hope there's enough interest to keep this bumped. The seniors I know are mostly committed voters, and have quantities of common sense developed by forming their habits of thought in a more grounded time.
No disrespect intended...
I've read my post over a few dozen times now and fail to see what can be construed as condescending. Aside from that, we're in total agreement!
The Leno interview can be a great tool. That should be used in any compilation DVD's. I'm still drawn to that nice long interview he did at Google some months ago too. Any other suggestions?
