If you’re reading this post, the 4 words in the title meant “economics thread” to you and you clicked. But really, this is an effort to reach out to see if others like me are much more interested in the topics of free markets, serious and specific fiscal reform to limit govt spending, non-interventionist monetary policy, and the messaging, political and social tactics and legislation WE CAN DO to accomplish these things. Isn't this also what Ron Paul wants to focus on? Instead of…

+Kennedy Killed By Bankers over abolishing Federal Reserve
+Questions for conspiracy theorists
+Jesus was a socialist
+Be a minuteman,be prepared,be ready to arm your family
+Chemtrails-don't hammer me until you see this
+Timely reminder from "Ruby Ridge"

Who agrees with me? Maybe Michael can segment this site.

To be honest, I really like

To be honest, I really like to share information about all the incredible things the Austrian School teaches but there just doesn't seem to be many threads here that could use that kind of analysis. I am sure, however, as the crisis worsens that people on this website(and undoubtedly other places as well)
will begin to be interested in all thing Austrian.

*sigh* What happened to all the gold/oil/market threads?!

I'm here!

I'm interested in talking about real policy proposals based on our Austrian foundations that we can back... both ideal scenarios (End the Fed! / no income tax!) and well as incremental options (legalize alternative currencies! / I dunno, maybe NIT or something)...

On a slightly less Austrian topic, I think election integrity is a topic that should be highly important to us, and we could easily win allies amongst the Greens, independents, even more niche parties (socialist workers, etc)... Anyone who doesn't have an interest in maintaining the 2-party strangle-hold on our elections can be our friends on this topic.

I think election integrity desperately people who can make rational, logical, and methodical arguments. And that's something that Austrian economists are good at.

The only way to get to austrian economics

Is by exposing government lies. If you want to talk about austrian economics then do it. It won't get us anywhere closer to overthrowing this government because we've never used austrian economics. It's like talking about unicorns and fairies to people who live in the real world. Austrian economics have never been used, just talked about.

What has happened is government sponsored lies like 9/11, the iraq war and thousands of other examples. When people understand our government and financial institutions are based on lies then we can talk about your economics theories. Until then you're just going to be blowing wind.

Have you ever read a book

Have you ever read a book from http://mises.org ?

Your comment wouldn't make sense at all if you had.

It doesn't matter whether the government "uses" austrian economics.
It doesn't matter whether austrian economics is taught in schools.

I would think that anyone that understands what economics is, and what austrian economics teaches, would understand that it doesn't matter that "we've never used austrian economics". I can't even see how it makes sense for someone who understands austrian economics to make a statement like that.

Austrian economics explains the fraudulent nature of the Federal Reserve System, and the negative effects it has on people, such as inflation.
It refutes the idea that consumer greed causes general inflation.
It refutes the idea that more government debt is a good thing.
It refutes the idea that regulation is beneficial rather than harmful.
It refutes the idea that socialism could work.

Please read something from there: http://mises.org/literature.aspx
They have many free books and articles that you can view and download.

Austrian economics is a

Austrian economics is a means of exposing the government's lies about the economy and the government's policies related to the economy and banking, etc.

You can waste time trying to find proof of all the various conspiracy theories if you want, but we already have more than enough real information to share with people that shows how the government's policies are severely flawed.

Why not go with what we already know to be true, rather than risking time/energy on things that we don't know to be true, and may never know to be true, or may in fact be proven false?

we are exposing government

we are exposing government lies ... only we want to do it without using scare tactics

people are willing to give a few more minutes on the economy than hearing that george bush is an illuminati new world order international banker criminal ...

it doesn't benefit us ... who want to kick the clowns out of government anyway .. and replace them with people who understand whats going on

I agree ... I am an austrian

I agree ... I am an austrian (I'm right here) =] ... and instead of screaming and yelling about a conspiracy of rockefeller and all that other nonsense and that 9/11 is an inside job and all that other crap ...

I take a more humble approach to my goals:
1. study, learn, discuss, and debate the economic issues
2. own the issues after i've learned them
3. and smack people in the face with economic law

all of these things will help me progress in knowledge and experience and provide fertile ground for me to run as a candidate in the future.

A lot of people don't take us seriously because too many people are screaming about all this other nonsense and whether you believe it or not ... it doesn't help.

We need to be learning, educating, and debating the issues of free markets, limited government, and non-interventionary monetary policy.

These 2 sites are a heaven for us who want to take the ball and run with it, as opposed to sitting and bickering about hypothetical prophesies on a message board.

WHO AGREES?

I, a fellow "Austrian",

I, a fellow "Austrian", agree!

We have more than enough real, provable facts and logic to succeed. Conspiracy theories are completely unnecessary to further the revolution, and often cause people to not even want to associate with others in the revolution.

BIG BUMP!!!

"Time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their country"

Agreed

Just because some people are super excited about airplanes, doesn't mean you come to a Ron Paul site and talk about airplanes. Ditto for wacky theories. There are plenty of other sites for people to fly their crazy flag. I don't know why they choose to do it on Ron Paul sites. It almost makes me think these people are intentionally trying to undermine the credibility of this movement.

The worst I heard was that people were actually going up to Tucker Carlson and telling him about their latest 9/11 speculations. That one really gave me a headache. What better way could there possibly be to drive credible people out of this movement?

I'm not telling anyone to stop believing what they want to believe. Just don't fly that flag when you are associated with Ron Paul.

i give this one a boost too

i give this one a boost too ... we aren't saying believe what we say ... but it is kind of against the wind and is not helping us ... there are a million 911 truth sites .. we don't need another one

Yeah, this site could use a

Yeah, this site could use a lot better organization.

Michael, the best way to do

Michael, the best way to do this would be to allow the users access to taxonomy terms. Create 5-10 topics that posts are generally about and let the user decide which category. That way if a user wants, they can read all of one type, or all together. I prefer reading all of the posts' titles and reading whatever interests me. That is a plausible way that people can read all, or more specific without having to revamp the entire forum into sections.

Not Again, Oy!

Yet ANOTHER thread whining about other threads that no one is under any obligation to open?

Yeesh.

Not whining

over their existence. Fishing for like-minded posters.

The first 5 million supporters of Dr. Paul are 'early adopters.' The next 10 million will require a modified approach.

My advice.

Just edit your OP and leave out the dissing of other threads. Otherwise, this thread will quite possibly end up being an argument over the other threads, instead of Austrian economics. And you'll have only yourself to blame.
