Keene, New Hampshire District Court Judge Edward Burke decides to start yelling within a minute of entering his courtroom. What sets him off? A man STANDING while he enters....then taking six seconds to follow a sit-down order. Ian Freeman - a civil disobedience activist on trial over minor code violations - received 30 days jail for this infraction alone. As plaintiff in contractual disputes I've been to small claims court numerous times. It is hit and miss in court, depending on the Judges whims. The same case can opposite outcomes depending on the sitting judge.

Recently, they have instituted mandatory arbitration before trial. If you loose that, it will cost you an additional $200 to go to trial.

I had a 100% guarantee on some work done by a contractor and he failed to meet specifications and refused to correct. Both contractor, the judge and arbitrators all had Irish surnames, and I German. The judge told me these things happen when contractor failed as promised as I proved. Guess who won ? The luck of the Irish !

Two things, don't pay for bad work and expect the court to get it back for you and if sued, demand a jury trial (permissible in Illinois - small claims). Make them go through the trouble (time & expense) of a law suit.

What exactly started all this.. I have been trying to figure out what it was about the couch.. I know the civil disobedience part..

hiding in that couch. The neighbors, Cops and the courts were doing their job in bringing this terrorist supporter to justice. USA USA

That a tenant of the landlord, left a couch outside of the building, and the neighbors complained about an unsightly mess.

But, I really don't know.

Now, the Keene courthouse is reporting that Bernard returned to court this morning and had the sentences suspended on the three contempt charges, though the charges stand.

The support for Bernard that blossomed over the weekend was tremendous. Websites 93days.com and jailedactivist.info sprung to life and chronicaled the various reports and information surrounding Friday's events.

It now appears that the original complaint about the couch was politically motivated, initiated by a Keene bureaucrat in response to questions posed to her by Bernard on WKBK's Talk Back radio show.

With all that sitting and standing and sitting in the courtroom, its almost like going to catholic church.

When the judge called his name, he stood up, I guess that was the wrong thing to do, who knew?

The judge is a piece of sh_t in my opinion.
