Go to the coin store....

and buy at least 90% silver, or eagles if you can find them. Unforturnately, they are getting harder to find. I would pass on buying them on line, seriously.

Go to the bookstore and buy a 2009 coin book

for about 8-12 dollars, see what they have as the spot price & then you will convert the values accordingly based on current spot ( I know it is all screwed up spot vs. real now, but it will help you with pricing), look at the flea markets, junk shops, and pawn shops, yard sales even, and with your remaining 185 dollars or so you are now prepared to pick up some junk/nuministic coins and not pay to much. I wouldn't look to pick up collection worthy coins, but I have found some awesome coins cheap, by knowing what I was looking at. If you have a local coin shop you can buy generic oz's cheaper than silver eagles. Or what is known as junk silver all equates out to about .75 oz per dollar. So that can help you price it and know what your getting. You could get a roll of junk silver quaters and a roll of dimes. But, I would get a current coin book as well, so when your out and spot a coin at the junk store you know wether to buy it or not.

I have found several high grade collecter coins, cheap just by looking at flea markets, so not only do I have a pretty good stash of silver & gold bullion, but also have accumulated a pretty decent coin collection as well, so I have a reserve ether way. Nuministically or bullion wise.

Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

*May the only ones to touch your junk, be the ones you want to touch your junk.*

junk silver

from a coin shop. 2 bills is not a lot, pre-65 quarters and dimes are an easy first investment. I started with junk silver, then silver bullion, then gold. man, gold sure is pretty (so is silver).

I can't recommend spending

I can't recommend spending $200 on gold or silver. If this amount of money is precious to you, I'd recommend spending it on seeds and some gardening tools.

Don't delude yourself into thinking this would be a wise investment. You'd only have a fraction of an ounce.

I moused around a lot before buying my first oz.

Got lots of great advice and instruction from fellow patriots. I'l cut to the chase: this is what I got out of it:

silver is silver is silver is silver is silver

So you are better off buying bullion to get more bang for your buck. Anything else carries a premium.

The important thing is getting started, and once you start stacking you never stop. Go to your locall coin shop and befriend your dealer.

Marcelo

thats a superb advise Marcelo. so concentrate on the gold

boy im checking out the websites now and it looks so beautiful. no wonder those leprechauns love gold so much

You should prioritize

If there is anything better you can spend that $200, I suggest it. How's your tackle box looking? Do you have a solar battery charger and ac converter?
$200 will get you at least 400 rounds of .223 and boat loads of 22 or 9 mil.
I'm voting for spending it more wisely.

ive never shot a gun and hopefully never will but thanks for you

ive never shot a gun and hopefully never will but thanks for your advise. The problem is Im living away from home and go to college. Im renting a basement so I dont see the point of stacking food or batteries and emergency equipment. but I told my mom to stack dry food incase of an emergency that may come soon

If I was a college kid again I would use my $200 for fun

Seriously. Your parents will take care of you if the shit hits the fan before you graduate and after you get silver or gold, there it is. That's it. All you have is money that you can't exactly spend at the moment. Get some beer, get some weed, get some video games. Enjoy yourself now; it's hard to tell what the future holds.

You're a nice guy too.

I almost always like your posts. You seem very open-minded.

I disagree with most of the advice I've read so far. I don't see $200 as an adequate amount of money to invest in metals, be they gold, silver or cold steel (weapons).

If a survival hedge is your intention, I'd use that $200 to buy food. Freeze-dried is pricey, but essentially lasts forever packed in cans, so you don't have to rotate it, and it travels light, so you can take it anywhere with you over time.

I would not buy MREs. "Everything the military buys is low-bid" is an old expression, and that goes for their food as well.

If you were living in a suburban home or on the farm, I would recommend buying institutional-sized cans of vegetables, dry wheat, beans and rice, and rotate the canned goods every two years in a pantry, Mormon-style. But since you are a young man in college, I think something that doesn't require fuss, that's fairly permanent, like canned dehydrated and freeze dried foods, would be a good investment for your $200 bucks.

I wouldn't buy the survival food canister they sell at Costco. I recommend buying food from this food dealer in Texas--Internet Grocer. They are nice folks and very reputable:

http://www.internet-grocer.net/

They also stock interesting food items like canned butter and cheese.

A local coin shop would be

A local coin shop would be the best way to go. Ask them to assist your purchase, buy a few coins, then compare by phone with other coin shops if you are unsure if you got a good deal. Usually you'll get a fair deal. It's always a good idea to ask the Lord to guide you, too. May He bless you.

god bless you motorgrader. thanks for the advise

Try APMEX.COM

They'll take a check, which is good. Ebay occasionally has something for a good price, but not much lately.

I'd buy locally if I were you, if you can get a good price.

Lol, yeah.

That thought occurred to me. You can get insurance, but then that adds, obviously, to the cost.

There's a lot to be said for finding a reputable local dealer who is reasonable, and you hit on one of the reasons.

It's also good to avoid tracking.

And although you didn't ask, I'm a fan of junk silver these days. More bang for the buck, imo.

Yeah, Don't Look At It As A Vehicle To Make Money

Just hold it for when you need it. It's a hard asset. Some people freak out on here whenever the price falls. I never looked at it as a substitute for the stock market. It's a way to protect wealth against a possible destruction of the currency. Plus, it helps you to save money you might otherwise not. And . . . it's fun!

Anyway, I DO believe in God, so thanks! And God bless you as well, and good luck in everything.

All the best,
