They did it again! Just like Nevada!
Please read the link below. It is a summary of the meeting that took place last Monday night in our AZ Legislative District # 4, the second largest GOP district in the state. AZ's GOP "old guard" took a page out of Nevada's playbook when they cancelled NV's state convention because Ron Paul was winning too many delegates to the GOP National Convention.
We had more than enough Ron Paul supporters and other long-time Party conservatives to take all 5 district offices and all 57 delegates to the upcoming Jan '09 GOP AZ State Convention. At our LD meeting in October we were successful in electing all 5 members of the Nominating Committee, so they new we were coming at them big time.
Realizing our strength (and their weakness) the District Chairman abruptly suspended the meeting (against Roberts Rules of Order and against our own District By-Laws) and quickly left the meeting. He also summoned Sheriff's Posse Deputies whoappearently, upon his orders, said those remaining in the meeting room were now trespassing and subject to arrest if they did not leave.
The majority of our group, lead by the sitting District Vice-Chair and Ron Paul supporter (more than enough for a legal quorum), took the meeting outside to the parking lot, causing the Chairman to instruct the venue personnel to turn off all the parking lot lights. After some negotiation with a janitor, the lights were turned back on. The Chairman and his small group of co-conspirators assembled across the street to watch the events unfold. At one point they called on a cell phone, offering to "negotiate a fair solution". No deal! We had the votes. It was our party now.
Subsequently the Chairman and his wife, an AZ House Member, appear to have gone into hiding and are not answering any of their phones. The GOP state party chairman, who may have orchestrated the (outgoing) district Chairman's hasty retreat, has said that if we can't resolve the dilemma in LD-4 within 2 weeks he will appoint all District Officers and the 57 State Convention Delegates. I wonder how many offices and delegates we'll get if that happens!
This is the same AZ state party chairman who came to a Ron Paul rally earlier this year and encouraged all of us to get involved in the GOP is we wanted to bring change. Be careful what you wish for sir!
After McCain's embarrassing loss, and further losses in both houses of Congress, don't you think it's time for the GOP (emphasis on the OLD) to stop shooting themselves in the foot (or a little higher up on the anatomical chart) and start working for the good of our country, not just what they think is the good of "their" Party?
To us, it's not about power or personalities, it's about Principle.

Get in their face, ask them, on film.....if they saw the quorum gained and the rules obeyed...if they say no.....you have the film or recording that says otherwise.
confront them right then and there...in the parking lot...ask them if they're calling HQ for some "help". tell them you have all the information you need to send them to jail.
and then one night....in some dark alley...kick one of their asses and whisper some wise words in his ear.

They'll use this tactic everywhere
I wonder is there is a counter to this tactic? If not, they're going to use this in every state where we try to take them over.
We need to make sure that Ron Paul supporters are in full control of the Republican Party come 2012, now that Paul has said he might run again.This will be a weakened Jimmy-Carter-like Obama versus Ron Paul, the guy who predicted the economic collapse. I like them odds.
BTW Anyone who isn't a member of the Republican Party needs to join now so any upcoming votes go our way.

I think we will be stopped
I think we will be stopped at every important turn. They got away with Nevada's stunt. They got away with Wa state's illegal stunts, why would they not get away with the rest? Don't get me wrong I'm not saying don't try but for me I put in 100's of hours after the precinct caucus all the way to our state convention to see no results to get RP elected. I honestly don't know why RP wants to consider running again since he was such a reluctant candidate in this race, but I will support him again. How can I not! I have very little faith in the republican route.

Bring flags "the join or die revolution flags". When they walk to their cars follow them in numbers. Hold Large maglite flash lights. Be polite! Be nonviolent! Intimidate them! Who can call a meeting?
Rumors are running that only the Chairman can call a meeting of LD-4 to proceed, if required, with a new vote on Officers and Delegates. If no meeting is held by December 4th, then the State Republican Chairman can select these for the Party. We elected Officers and Delegates in the parking lot following all rules of our by-laws and Robert's Rules. Officers were sworn in in the next two days. This is furthur impediment to change and fairness.
Does anyone have data on this procedure?
Answers:
1) Legislative District 4 is on the northwest side of Phoenix in the Sun City area.
2) Guests are welcome at meetings but may or may not be allowed to speak at the Chariman's discretion. Only elected Precinct Committeepersons can vote. Meetings are once each month on the 3d Monday night. Google AZ LD-4 for schedule, time and place.
3) AZ is an "open carry" state. Many of our members are gun owners. Don't know if they are in any of the militias. Open or CCW is not allowed in government buildings.
4) There is a Phoenix area-wide meet up group #7 to which some of our members are affiliated.

I can't stay up long tonight, I've got strepp throat or however you spell it.
The AZ GOP probably has one of their paid henchmen monitoring this and other RP websites. I don't give a shit at this point. We know what they are up to and they certainly seem to know what we're up to so why hold back.
The main difference between our group and theirs is that we want an open, honest election and we will play by the By-Laws and Robert's Rules, even if it means losing this round. They have even set up a faux blog passing themselves off as us and talking trash, just so they can send it to their supporters and tell them what vile, evil people we are. They will stoop to any level to win.
Here's a wonderful tidbit from a meeting last night...two of our people, a husband and wife attended one of the many Republican Club monthly meetings in or area. The average age of attendees was about 78 so you can see they are all long-time, party regulars and retired for many years. The wife got us to speak about what happened at the Monday election meeting since it was the hot topic of the night. The old Chairman stood up and interupted her. She quickly said, "Please sit down and be quiet, Monday night you ran the meeting, tonight is my turn to speak". He sat down and didn't say another word! We're so proud of her!
At the end of the meeting one of the old Chairman's friends made a motion for the Club to endorse him. There was dead silence in the room. Not one person spoke up to second the motion so it died! I think most people there would have supported him except for the dirty tricks he pulled at the meeting, suspending it and walking out, and threatening arrest to anyone who didn't leave the meeting room. But more than liking him they want a fair election.
Maybe he'll see the stone has been cast. He even said he would step down as a candidate if his #2 guy could be elected Chairman. We didn't buy in to that!

when reading your post, that some of the life time members of the party are wanting what we want. That is a fair process of all the meetings. There are a lot of good people in the Republican party. They saw what happen in the election and they do want their party be strong. A lot didn't realize how badly this party was lead astray from it core principles. There are many who are in position of power who will do nothing but retain their power. As in the case you describe, the chairman has lost a lot of respect in your district among the party members who witness this. The people has had enough of the BS politics and want real "change" and real progress.

In answer to the question below, the entire AZ meeting was videotaped, both the part inside the meeting room and the part out in the parking lot after two Deputy Sheriffs cleared the room under threat of arrest at the direction of the (outgoing, defeated) District Chairman.
We may have some "professionals" involved on our side between now and what looks like to be a re-meeting to start all over. That's what the other side thinks will happen.Stay tuned, we'll see about that. They are certainly in an olive branch, let's all be friends mode right now. I can't tell you what I think about that in mixed company!

Believe me, the Nevada State GOP is gearing up to made the State Central Committee Meeting as messed up as the convention was. They will pull the same stunts as Arizona. We need to be prepared. If you are a State Central Committee member from your county, you MUST be at that meeting, Dec 12/13 in LV at the Sahara. I've had people asking what they can do now, well, THIS is what you can do & it's the most important thing right now. If you're confused about what's going on, call your county GOP chairman if he/she is one of "us." If they're not, call someone in your county who is & get on board.

Are You Serious About Helping Ron Paul?
Ron Paul needs help getting more allies into congressional and senate seats - and Jesse Benton is now saying Ron Paul may run again. So - Are you Serious about helping him?
Then you have to be willing to do the dirty work - Which means getting involved with your local County GOP Executive Committee now - become a precinct committeemen/committeewoman - drag your friends from your local meetup group along to do the same (our meetup has meetings the night before the county GOP meeting, to go over strategy and educate each other) - and next time county elections come up - run one of your own for Chairman. There are other positions available also - and build from there - if we all do this - we wont have a repeat of what happened this last time around with the Delegate situation - we will already be in place.
Are you serious about who you want the nominee to be - or just wishing? Get involved in the party if your serious - from the sidelines you're just a spectator.
