Have You Been De-Hannitized?
Submitted by Hoof Hearted on Tue, 11/13/2007 - 19:20Just curious as to how many of us have been De-Hannitized are Ex- Ditto Heads, seeking refugee status from the Savage Nation, etc....
Personally, I have been listening to Rush since 1989, Hannity since he was syndicated and Savage since 1995.... I still miss the Black Avenger (Ken Hamblin) though..
I bought it all hook line and sinker until 94' and the contract w/ America con.
I slowly began to change my thinking until one day I was watching O'Reilly, and he was doing his usual yelling over the top of the "guest" and something just clicked and I realized what a bunch of sellout punks these guys really are.....Rush has made millions preaching limited government, quoting from the Federalist Papers, pretending he was protecting these ideals from the Dems, etc.
Finally a candidate with the nuts to actually put these ideals into action comes along, and Limbaugh declares him to be mentally unstable! Hannity is acting just like Chuck Schumer, and Savage calls him a kook, and actually believes that 25 million people want Savage to run!
I still watch and listen, but now, thanks to Dr. Paul, and many people on these forums, my eyes are jaded.
When I watch the news, it's like spying on my enemy.

Glenn Beck
Used to listen to Glen Beck all the time when I worked out of my car. Man, I've learned a lot about money and the economy and foriegn policy in the last 6 weeks!
Hannity
I listen to hannity for 1-2 hours a day probably 4 days a week.
I don't know if I like hannity so much as I like listening to Hannity. He's incredibly biased and one sided, but as long as you keep that in mind while listening, I think he's fine.
My biggest problem with Hannity, is on things like the war and RP, he is completely unwilling to hear other view points.
Winning the facade, losing the war
Rush used to be interesting - at least he would have his caller abortions and things like the gay community update.
I almost want to say "Undo Rush's Lobotomy, vote for Hillary". But it was obvious he was a RINO when he wouldn't cheer conservatism but would cheer the sellout republicans starting with Mr. "Read my lips" (of course Rush may have been able to as he was going deaf - apparently he can still hear noises but can't make sense anymore).
The shift from "Vote for republicans because they are conservative" to "Vote for republicans because they are republicans" for all was usually fast - and they didn't even notice.
(No one mentioned Medved who coined the term "losertarians")
Interestingly guys
I was never a huge fan of fox but it was all the positive reader comments about Ron Paul in articles that sparked my interest. It led me to do a little research. Then I heard Dr. Paul smack Rudy down at the debate and I knew he was the one I'd vote for! What Ron Paul said to Ruby was plain, clear, and made perfect sense. Now look at me: I'm maxed out at $2300.
BTW- I still have hope for Glenn Beck. It seems that nearly every time I come across Beck's show, he's talking about a topic that Ron Paul talks about and usually takes the same position as Ron Paul. That is why I just don't get the whole thing where he blasts Ron Paul. I really don't.
With the exception of the war, nearly every position this guy takes is identical to Dr. Paul's positions. Two days ago I wrote him an email and told him that I don't understand how he can promote the same things as Ron Paul and not be on board with his campaign. I also added that he's losing me because of it.
RE: Glenn Beck
Glenn Beck was purposefully espousing the Paulite Libertarian ideals as a hook. He doesn't really believe in what he was saying. That little interview a couple of days ago has been set up for two weeks or more. It's the basic "emotional set-up and then the crash" technique. It's done in order to get the viewer to feel connected and loyal to the host. Then, when they "Ron Paul is crazy", you are more apt to follow. Why else would he have spoken about Ron Paul every other day for two weeks? It's a game.
"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain
Re: Glenn Beck
Beck's talking about Ron Paul is purely in ratings interests. He's a tool in the Master's bag with with a new straw man set up for each segment.
How to support beyond your max
You can support the campaign indirectly by going to chipin at http://ronpaulgraphs.com/chipin.html
There you will find many ways to show your support by donating to local fundraisers for Paul e.g. stadium fly overs, radio ads, etc.
I was never a great fan of
I was never a great fan of Hannity, but I always liked Rush and Boortz. In fact I still enjoy listening to them sometimes, mostly for entertainment value (I respect many of Boortz's views). It has turned me off to a great degree, though, that these two can't recognize a true conservative in Ron Paul. If nothing else they should at least admit that Paul is extremely conservative.
They always talk about democrats and those against the war being "invested in defeat" when it comes to Iraq. Well, these two and most neo-con talking heads are "invested" in the war--they have pedaled it so hard that they are now stuck and cannot change their position without damaging their egos and losing credibility.
These stories are really incredible.
I have goosebumbs and I can not go to bed and I need to work tomorrow. Sorry this is off topic.
I have been dehannitized!
Actually it happened in the last few weeks for me as a direct result of the Ron Paul campaign and all of my new online friends.
One more thing Dr. Paul cured me of!!!
Perhaps...
A link to this thread should be e-mailed to all of them so they can see just how many people they are turning away. That effects what we all care about most. Our pocket books. I'm in that boat too. This time they are on the wrong side of history.

What a wonderful thread!
What I love the most is that those who dismiss us as a bunch of leftist kooks - all you have to do is read the replies in this thread to realize just what a huge percentage of Ron Paul supporters are long-time conservatives. To paraphrase Reagan, we didn't leave the "conservative" movement - it left us. If being conservative now means being for big government, endless wars, and open borders, then count me out. I think those of us who actually believe what Goldwater, Reagan, and now Paul preach are called "paleo-conservatives". That works.
I found Limbaugh in '89. I just turned on the radio one day and heard Limbaugh by accident. I was amazed. Limbaugh in the late 80s and early 90s was incredible! I would make tapes of his shows and give them to friends. The would be just as impressed and pass them on. But as Limbaugh became more successful and mainstream, he took the edge off. But I still have a bunch of old tapes that serve as reminders of what he once was. He reminds me exactly of what happened to Peter Finch in Network. Now he's just a shadow of his old self. Still, he doesn't tick me off too often, unlike...
Hannity. This guy is a doofus. I knew it the first time I heard his "great American" self-congratulatory backslapping schtick. Limbaugh used to always joke that he was "show prep" for the morons that followed - well, the moron who follows him on almost every station across the land is Hannity, and I'm pretty damned sure that's who Rush was always talking about. I think everyone in the business knows what a complete air-headed jerk Hannity is. The only one who seems to like him is Mark Levin. The rest just tolerate him. I never had to be de-Hannitized because my natural BS detector innoculated me from him on day 1.
Gordon Liddy - I used to love this guy! As wild as early Limbaugh was, he never held a candle to Liddy! Liddy was the guy who broke into Watergate, took the rap like a man, and served hard time in pound-me-in-the-ass prison. He never apologized to anyone. All the other Nixon people cut deals and went to country club joints, like Chuck Colson, who's now an evangelist who hangs out with winners like Pat Robertson. Liddy's show was just wild. I still have a couple of my old "stacked and packed" calenders - hot female Liddy listeners in skimpy outfits holding automatic rifles. Anyway, after Waco in '93, Liddy said that if federal agents ever break into your house, you should "shoot them in the head". Dan Patrick, a failed sportscaster who became rich by buying a low wattage radio station and signing the then-unknown Rush Limbaugh, banned Liddy from the airwaves after that.
As for the rest - I used to love Levin until he turned on Ron Paul. Now I can't stand him. Still, if you can find the show where he rips Keith Olbermann a new one - listen and hear one of the best hours of radio ever. Laura Ingraham kind of bores me, but she's sharp and respects Ron Paul and those of us who support him. Savage is fun to listen to. I don't take him too seriously - I listen solely for entertainment when I'm driving in the evenings. About half of the time he's dead wrong, the other half of the time it's like you've never heard anyone so right about anything. It's a crapshoot.
Liberty
Having been a Republican for 31 years, I am very proud to say Ron Paul is the only Republican I have ever voted for. Usually I vote Libertarian, Green or even Democrat. But I write in Ron Paul for President. He was the best Congressman we ever had.
Sean Vannity
Yea I used to listen to Vannity until about a year ago when I realized he is nothing more than a TOOL for the status quo. Rush is pretty much a sell out also but still makes some sense sometimes. I still like to listen to Savage. But the local station here moved Savage's show to 7:00 PM in favor of Mark Levin, who is another whiny Bushbot that makes Sean Vannity look like a free thinker. It wouldn't surprise me if Savage doesn't like Paul. But Savage is at least not a sell out like the rest of them.
Guiliani vs Paul
Leading up to the Iraqi invasion I had a bit of a feeling that this was a bad idea, but I believed the WMD crap. 1 year went by, then 2, and I was almost praying that they would find the WMDs to prove Bush right. Then I just sort of put it out of my mind, not wanting to admit anything to myself.
But then came the moment of awakening, the great epiphany. It was the second Republican debate and this old guy with 2 first names started talking about blowback and how America has been throwing their weight around for decades. I was entranced and hung on every word. When Giuliani started blabbering, his words didn't even register, the cloud had been removed from my mind. My wife sitting next to me was yelling about how dare Ron Paul talk bad about America! My brother-in-law was there laughing at him and said "who the hell is that guy? He's gone!" I told them to shut up, this guy is absolutely right! After the money bomb, they are waking up too.
Now, whenever I'm around a bunch of Bushie neocons, it sort of feels like being the only one at a party who isn't drunk or high.
Then they flashed the text poll thing and I jumped up to get my cell phone thinking "at least he'll get one vote" but then the results came and I was just floored and thought to myself, "oh my God, what is going on!"
When I think back, that is the most telling sign, that Ron Paul won that first text poll before any of us were getting organized.
Shawn Insanity........
Is my litmus test for stupidity. He merits no other comment.
About 6-8 years ago, I started hearing Rush say the dumbest things about things he knew nothing about. I think he is a sharp political thinker, but is that really a complement? That's only good for out-politicking politicians. It seemed to me that he was extrapolating his success in one area (entertaining people with political observations) as being equivalent to vast expertise in nearly every other realm of knowledge. I now see him for the sell out he is (and air head).
I used to like Bill O'Reilly the best, and to be honest, I think he does some good. He started losing me when he (a harvard business school grad) demonstrated his stupidity about oil prices; trying to convince people we had high oil prices because of greedy futures speculators and price gouging oil companies. But since watching 'Out Foxed' I realize what a propagandist he his as well. Well, that and the way he treated Dr. Paul on his show.
Glen Beck is another basket case. I used to like moron trivia, but as others have said, his blindness to the fact the Dr. Paul is everything he says he wants in a leader, just shows what a sell out he is.
Yeah me too.
I think back to the times when I would argue with people about how Bush was right and how we gotta go get them terrorist. I actually argued with a friend of mine that had just got back from Iraq about how he was wrong about why we are there. He said it was for oil I said it was wmds and "tarrist" Yeah I was an idiot. Then I woke up. As soon as I saw the first fox news debate and heard what Ron Paul was saying I got mad at first, then something happened. HE WON! I went straight to my computer and looked up the things he said. Foreign policy, blow back, etc. Thats all it took. I have forever been changed and for the better. Instead of just believing what they feed us, when I hear something on the news I research it. I constantly study our world now to try and find the truth. If I can change, anyone can. I am not proud of the way I was but I use it to my advantage. I have been on the other side, I know how the unthinking majority minds work. Just plant the seed of liberty and watch it grow.
Freedom!
I've been RONITIZED....
LOL
Nega Dittos
Ahh, Rush Limbaugh. Maha Rushi. The "Doctor" of Democracy. (we all know who that REALLY is haha)
The lovable little fuzzball who is the most powerful man in America.
I am somewhat of a Rushbaby, I think that's what they are called anyway. Listened to him since 1992, was never a real dittohead of anything, just listened to him because my parents would on long road trips.
I still listen to him from time to time, but just for entertainment now. He is very humorous and always good for a laugh. The turning point actually wasn't over his blackout of Ron Paul or his incessant support of RINO's whilst continuing to spout the mantra that he is "a conservative first."
It was actually over a global warming rant I heard him tear off in the last year or so.
I heard him barreling through some list put out by an enviro. advocacy group on ways to reduce waste and he was just ripping each one of them. By the time he got to the end of the list and acted like each of the items presented were idiotic and for environmentalist whackos...I realized that I already did all the things he listed!!! (Such as reusing notebooks, drinking tap water, using public transit, etc.)
And I am not an environmentalist whacko. The key point that he was missing in his quest to portray more people as whackos was that people may be doing the things I listed and others like them because THEY MAKE SENSE!
There's somethin' happenin' here...
Power To The People?
Everybody
Everybody stop, listen
What's that sound?
Everbody look, Ron Paul's in town
Ex-Dittohead
I started listening to Rush in 1990. Bought his first two books. Subscribed to his newsletter. Watched his TV show. Pure Dittohead.
Then the 1994 elections happened, and I discovered that -- contrary to what Rush has always told me -- the Republicans, once in power, were just as two-faced as the Democrats.
At the same time I started reading the libertarian editorial page of the Orange County Register, and discovered that the real issue isn't left-vs-right, it's authority-vs-freedom.
I registered Libertarian in 1996, and have recently returned to the Republican Party only because there's a chance that she can return to her Ronald Reagan/Barry Goldwater roots. (Please, God, make it so.)
Yep and me too
I was never pro-war, but I wasn't anti-war either. I just wasn't sure. But supported Bush until about 2005 and listened to Rush - could never stand Hannity, the man is really a blithering idiot - but was a fan of Rush.
I still like him, I just think he has been neoconised and think he has very little to offer. The neocons obviously court influential people like him assiduously, invite them to Israel etc. Successful people like Rush also just become wealthy and slide left (neocon is not conservative). It always seems to happen. Real conservatives either think Bush is a complete failure (Peggy Noonan) or talk about him as though he is someone's sock puppet (Pat Buchanan).
Rush has zero credibility with me these days as he simply won't criticize Bush.
"What does conservatism today stand for? It stands for war. It stands for power. It stands for spying, jailing without trial, torture, counterfeiting without limit, and lying from morning to night."
Lew Rockwell
I used to watch Morton
I used to watch Morton Downey Jr.......
but only because he always really pissed me off.
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.
Thomas Jefferson, 1791
It all boils down to
3 accursed words that Rush, Hannity, Savage & Beck cannot say: I was wrong. I actually feel sorry for them. Imagine being in their position. They build their careers as authorities on Americanism and conservatism. They've got the adulation and the spotlight. Along comes Dr. Paul and its the Emperor's new clothes. They can't hold a candle to him in ideas or commitment. Now what can they do but pray through their sweat that he just goes away.
I was a necon too...i think
I was a necon too...i think. But, i took most of 2002 off from work and traveled through South America and Australia. I was always diving into internet cafes to read National Review to see what was going on with the run up to the war. I was really anxious about what our next move was going to be after 9/11. When i get back at the end of 2002 I was not used to all of the news channels and screaming we get in the U.S. I tried to drop back into my normal routine with fox news etc. But, something was not clicking in my head and i knew something was not right. I can't explain it but after traveling a good portion of the world i was not keen to going around around the world killing people on flimsy evidence. I was still 100% fiscally conservative but the Repbulicans were foaming at the mouth for war at the time and I just could not get on board. I was really concerned b/c I new I was conservative but the Democrats were starting to make more sense to me. I was unemployed for a good 3 months and had time on my hands to do allot of reading. I found an old Harry Browne book on my bookshelf that my dad gave me a few years back. "Why govt. doesn't work"...then it clicked for me. Harry explained that war was the biggest govt. program of all time. How could I support the war if i did not support anything else the govt. did. Then i started listening to Harry Browne's Saturday night radio show and sucking up every article he had ever written that was posted on his website. Then one night on his radio show somebody called in and mentioned the website LewRockwell.com and I felt like I just found the holy grail! Everything was there in one place for me...everything I had been looking for my entire life. It all made sense. Ever since then I drink my morning coffee and suck up the daily articles and visit the blog from my office. If LRC were ever closed down I would probably have a coronary. There's my story. Hope you enjoyed it.
Holy Crap!! Me too.
I bought it all myself. Now I want to puke when I listen to these folks. I also want to add Neil Boortz to the list. ONe of my meetup members got through on his show to discuss Ron Paul. He (Tim) summarized my personal frustration so well. I learned my distrust of government and became a republican and libertarian because of Neil Boortz. Then I am so frustrated and wait every day for him to see the light of the Revolution. Every day it doesn't happen.
Here is the youtube link of the call. It is awesome. Way to go Tim.

I too used to believe in these poor excuses...
I can't say I've been a religious listener of these numb-skulls but for some time I listened to their BS. I have always been a republican supporter although I voted for Perot in 92 and 96. During the 2004 election I voted for Bush and was thankful we had Fox News. But when Hannity called out Ron Paul over the Guiliani retort....and Ron Paul had been completely factual.... I couldn't believe these was the same people. My eyes have now been open! What a sham!

I used to watch Bill O'Reilly every night, until he smeared and shouted over Dr. Paul in that interview several months ago. Never watched again and never will. BTW - it looks like I will also cancel my Wall Street Journal subscription in a week or two. They are completely ignoring Dr. Paul and his campaign. I am tired of writing Peggy Noonan, Hardwick, etc. etc. about this.
Doesn't Rupert Own WSJ?
If so, I think your emails may be just a waste of time.
Hannity spills the beans
Thought I would tune in to FOX for a while after reading this thread, and it looks like some more people might become De-Hannitized and start joining us pretty soon.
I believe I just heard Hannity say on FOX that he actually WANTS Hillary to be the Democratic nominee...LOL...oops.
