Never in my life have I seen a speech delivered from a podium labeled "The Office of The President Elect" until today. This is getting ugly.

It's called "hot potato"--CATCH!
The Bush Administration has known all year that the economy was going to collapse. It will. It hasn't even begun to get as bad as it's going to be.
They are doing everything they can to speed the transition to Obama before Inauguration Day, with the MSM onboard, so the hot potato will be smoking in Obama and Pelosi's laps when the ax falls.

Look through today's news articles about the tragic attacks in Mumbai. Notice that virtually nowhere is it reported that President Bush said or did anything. U.S. responses are cited as coming from "the White House" or "Washington" (see this article, for example. Names of White House officials expressing their thoughts on the attacks (such as "horrific") are not referenced. Instead, it's "the Bush Administration," "the State Department," or "the White House" (as in this article)-- all very generic.
Meanwhile, there are all sorts of headlines about "President-Elect Obama" giving his response to the attacks. No Bush administration representative currently in office is quoted, but from the first article referenced just above, we have this:
That's Obama's chief national security spokesperson (as in, not an official security spokesperson for the United States).
If you look hard enough, you do come across a scant few articles which mention that Bush, who is at Camp David for the Thanksgiving holiday, "has been informed" of the situation, and he sends his "condolences" to victims and their families. Meanwhile, all the presidential talk is issuing from B.O., with statements such as, "The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks." Obama -- not Bush -- is the one reported as consulting with Condoleeza Rice regarding the situation.
What, did George just toss the Oval Office keys under the mat, leave the porch light on, and tell B.O. to come on down and make himself at home? Not that I shed a tear to see W walk off the stage, but c'mon...
And where's Dick Cheney?
Hi fan.
"What, did George just toss the Oval Office keys under the mat, leave the porch light on, and tell B.O. to come on down and make himself at home?"
He's free to help himself to the beer in the fridge and have his friends over too.

Dick who?
Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!
Hi back atchya, Voting4Ron
I somehow picture W standing there at the door of the White House, ready to depart for Camp David (or Paraguay), and he calls out to all within hearing range, "Okay, then; I'm off for my Thanksgiving holiday..."
...but no one responds. People are continuing their conversations with each other, even those standing close to W; a staff member walks across his field of view with a tray of coffee for other White House employees without giving him a glance; a maid on the janitorial staff continues vacuuming the carpet, and his own Secret Service staff is busy chatting with one another about sports or some such. George quickly turns and faces the exit, as if someone had just called his name outside (no one had) and he strides purposefully towards the waiting limo. Once seated inside the car, however, he slinks down in the plush leather seats, like a little boy who just realized that he wasn't invited to the birthday party of the most popular kid in town...
If I didn't despise him so much, I might almost feel a little sorry for him.
Remember his first inauguration day? It was pouring rain, and only a very few people dotted the streets here and there along the path he took to the ceremonies. He kept looking around, like he was expecting hoards of crowds lining his parade route to the presidency. Occasionally, he would wave...to empty spaces...or to people who just happened to be walking along the street at that point, and not present for the purposes of seeing George. I totally remember watching this on TV, back when I had television.
Seems like he's going out the way he came in: with a whimper.
Agree.
Until you mentioned Old Dick, I hadn't thought about him at all.

Right...
You see he was elected president elect of the world and that term will end when he is inaugurated. Then, he'll become the POTUS...
"Moreover, as America becomes an increasingly multicultural society, it may find it more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstances of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat."

I thought it a bit odd also,

I heard on an internet radio station that on Oct. 9th ...
that Bush signed an executive order saying that the next president on the day that he/she would win the election would be able to be recognized as having on "office". It's absurd any way that you slice it. What a crock!

Obama needs to "brand"
Obama needs to "brand" himself as the next president as much as possible. The better he establishes the brand the more difficult it will be to carry out the legal argument against him. That's why these sorts of things are being done... "the office of the PRESIDENT elect"
...
We have plent of time to be disappointed...
So far the thing I agree with him on is...
The closing of Guantanamo.
I hope he says no torture immediately. But I am not going to have any high expectations from him considering he has no credibillity and any of the major issues from the bailout, the war spending or the bills that rape the privacy of all Americans.
He says he is going to bring the troops home from Iraq but he is probably let the Iraqis do the deciding, but he should act first and save the Iraqis the parliamentary circus that will occur if we still have an occupying force in their land.
His choice of an economic advisor could have been worse than Volcker, who even though is completely wrong on allowing the federal reserve to exist, Ron Paul did say he was a more decent person than Bernanke and Greenspan. I hope them and Paulson have no business in govt and that they should be publicly boycotted from all shows, books, jobs, nightclubs.. etc... of course we will all need to get the cuffs ready for them.
He should have more humility though, even though he thinks he has all these smart people backing him up, it isn't going to matter if his policies do not dramatically decrease the size of government and allow the free market to determine interest rates and allow competing currencies.
But with all his arrogant flaws, he does have the chance of becoming more non-interventionist in regards to foreign policy. He can shut down the missle shield in Europe and encourage free trade with Russia. Decrease soldiers in South Korea and have S.Korea determine if they want us there or not. I would hope he would just do it on his own but he isn't that brilliant. He can stop all action in South America, we will do much damage to ourselves if we have bad relations with the South. Of course to do this we just need to stop the abolition of drugs.
And I want a president that will pardon all non-violent drug offenders.

I'm willing to entertain for
I'm willing to entertain for one minute the idea that Obama will want to end the "War on Drugs" due to "economic concerns", which would suit me and all Constitutionally-minded folks just fine. I think economic concerns could trump phony law and order expansion.

My thoughts exactly!
My husband and I were just talking about this. You never hear about the "President-elect" until the inauguration. Why does he have to stand behind that podium and sign and make demands? I honestly thought it was a photoshop picture the first time I saw him behind the podium with his "President-elect" sign. I don't understand what is going on with this.
BTW, we still have 3 Ron Paul bumper stickers and 2 magnetic signs on our van and the looks we get are amazing!! It's so offensive to Obama supporters and we can tell who they are, by the looks we get!! I say stare all you want, one day you will ask me about Ron Paul and I can fill you in on one of the greatest Americans ever!!!
Speaking from the point of
Speaking from the point of view of the investors and Wall Streeters, Obama is taking this time to prepare businesses and the financial markets for his plans right after the transition. Now, he can't make proclamations as if he were already president, thus the sign. It's silly, but get used to it. Obama will be a 180 degree turn from Bush. You'll be informed every time he brushes his teeth for the next 4 years.

I get the same looks and stares....
from my "Don't blame me....I voted for Ron Paul" bumper sticker. Unfortunately all these Obama supporters are going to find out about Dr. Ron Paul the hard way, through The Great Depression II.
