Submitted by StaxBrix on Sat, 11/29/2008 - 16:58
This video examines the various agendas that are CURRENTLY being pushed through Hip Hop and the direction they are moving us in.
This work is a mixture of conversations from Alan Watt, Tupac Shakur & "Gwapo's" weekly Radio Show:

Again it's a different generation....
It's so obvious that the young black, hispanic, asian and others (I can talk because i fall into one of these categories) is so different than the generation i went to school with. High school meaning almost 20 years ago now. But it's not just rap, but mainstream pop too. It's the media encouraging and portraying the disposable, instant gratification, self-centered, materialistic persona that's took over our youth. Of course I would be wrong to say that all youth is like this, not all youth is. But of course since the MEDIA portrays this, it gets more attention. Gets out there to more people and then ta da, everyone thinks this is the norm because they see it on tv and the radio. I constantly have to bring up to the younger crowd that life is not at all like tv, movies, videos etc. And if people base relationships with others like they see on tv, man are they in for a total surprise and endless disappointment! Again i blame the media for this destruction of minds; not necessarily the music, because there are some great artists and fans out there that don't get the attention they deserve.

... and I can talk about
... and I can talk about blacks, hispanics and asians because I have freedom of speech. I didn't know there was a requirement to be in "one of those categories" in order to speak.
Your point is absolutely spot on. Disposable pop culture.

That's their definition of racism: "if you say anything negative towards them, you are a racists".
Some REAL artist
Immortal Technique, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Akir, Blackstar, Dead Prez, East Coast Avengers, Eminem, Fort Minor, The Game, Nas, Tupac.
I highly doubt that anyone here knows anything about rap, hip-hop, the black struggle, urban politics, or anything of that nature. This analysis is way off.
I highly doubt you know
I highly doubt you know anything about rap, hip hop, the black struggle or anything else apart from the statist garbage being fed to you at your state sponsored school.
I can't wait till Prodigy (who was on record saying he was down with Ron Paul and wasn't going to vote for Obama just because he was black) gets out of lockdown and puts out a new album talking about Ron Paul and the economic slavery ALL of us are put in via the Federal Reserve and state capitalism (TOTALLY different than truly free market capitalism....not because state capitalism is what occurs naturally, but because those in power are allowed to do so by a dumbed down populace).
You just don't get that truly free market capitalism is how we can be FREE of the cronyism and that we are not living under that system. We are living in socialism and have been for decades. COLLECTIVISM is what is hurting the minorities and elderly the most.
By entrusting *benevolent* benefactors in government to solve all of our problems they concentrate power in the hands of a corrupt minority.
When you finally understand that the individual is the ULTIMATE MINORITY who's rights should be protected THEN you will understand why all the statist bullsh*t you are talking does more harm to those you wish to help than good.
It is your opinion that
It is your opinion that unrestricted, free market capitalism is the best system.
It isnt that I dont get it, its that I dont agree with you.
You dimple ass
A troll who thinks he knows about the black struggle. I will eat your children asshole. A troll. Nothing but a stinking worthless troll! You are hated here. go away and stick your silver spoon a little further up your ass. Defart I hate you.
Cameron
I think you are underestimating the diversity of the DP. BTW you left out Biggie, Rakim, KRS-one, and Chuck D. All of which I'd rate ahead of your list except Tupac.
Yeah. Those guys are old
Yeah. Those guys are old school, and I listen to more recent guys, but yeah, you're right.
And you seem to be an outlier on here.
Yeah they are old school.
I was in high school when that stuff came out,so it was a while ago. Hopefully this younger gen can revert back to the old school days and deliver a positive message. It was nice to see it in the lyrics from oyur other thread.
Not sure what you mean by outlier. If you mean that I don't post here often, well I guess that's true kinda.
double post..sorry.
double post..sorry.
you should apologize more often

I havent heard from you
I havent heard from you before..so I guess you proved me wrong. You are right, I did forget KRS-One. Thanks
But I still stand by what I said, most of the people here are white middle-class conservatives who despise urban politics, welfare, collectivism, and deny the existence of racism.
Let us not forget...

I listened to Tupac back in the day
I went to a majority black school growing up. I quit listening to rap when Tupac died. I want to listen to intelligence. Not to say that is not there now, but it wasn't there when I left. I can remember listening to some stuff by Master P that was nothing but jibberish. That is when I realized there was nothing there to stimulate my brain. Then, I picked up a guitar. That was all she wrote. Like Chappelle said: the guitar speaks to the white man's soul. As far as the black man's struggle, I understand that too. The same white people that have been fucking you, have been fucking me too. Some of the best people I have ever known were black. I'm not close to any of them now, because I have moved alot. I open my arms to the black man as my brother, as my equal. Well, actually most of you have got me beat in the sports category. I'll put my bbq next to yours any day though.
Its pretty sad, if you think
Its pretty sad, if you think about it. Poor black people and poor white people have more in common than rich white people and poor white people. Sadly, people on this board refrain from aiding their fell poor blacks in their struggle against the rich white people. What people on here call the NWO, or the rich white politicians, bankers, judges, cops, they have been oppressing blacks for centuries now. But it almost blasphemy to mention that on this board.
Where as whites on this board can attack the NWO from afar, and observe the actions of political leaders around the world, and put these actions into theories about world control and oppression....blacks are directly effected by actions of these same rich crooks everyday. From housing discrimination to lynching to being denied suffrage. Its a shame that poor whites and poor blacks have been taught to hate each other, or they might unite and take down the true oppressors.
That is what Dennis Kucinich, Cynthia McKinney, and others talk about.
Yes I agree
Growing up I used the word nigger right along with the other black kids as a term of endearment. Whoa, did that shit ever change. Now, I have to be extra careful about everything I say simply because I'm white. Oh well, I ain't mad. The poor blacks and poor whites that hate each other are only ignorant of each other. If they got to know each other, they would soon realize how much they are alike. We are all just squirels trying to get a nut.(take that any way you want to)
Fighting for liberty helps all.
Exactly how would you like me to aid the poor blacks against the evil rich white people?
Also, I'm white and I'm trying my best to be rich. Maybe my death would further the cause? I'll consider suiciding and get back to you.
You have a collectivist mentality -- "poor blacks', "rich whites", "people on this board"...
Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!
When I say rich white people
When I say rich white people I am not attacking 'rich' people or 'white' people. I am attacking a specific group, the 'rich white people' that run this country and run this world.
The 'rich white people' are my New World Order folks.
broad strokes
freedumb is not free! please stop this. im white not middleclass just hardworking, grew up on wellfare blah blah. i could give you a few suggestions to fix urban politics.
freedumb is not free!
I dont know your life story,
I dont know your life story, what do you expect me to paint with?
Then again
there are also a variety of real artists and musicians on DP who believe that 98% of rap shows no talent, musical ability, creativity or originality and prefer rock & roll and its blues/jazz-based roots with pioneers like Blind Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix and Motown originals like the Temptations and Edwin Starr, not to mention the heavy funk of Rick James.
No racism here from Whitey, so take that bitch elsewhere DeHart.
Just a more selective taste in what is considered "music" and real "talent."
I knew RICK JAMES ...
spent many a day in his home helping cook at the potlucks he had and enjoyed countless parties that were fun and suitable for children, believe it or not! He was a friend and it's still shocking to know that he's gone!
Didnt explicitly say people
Didnt explicitly say people here were racist. I said they were out of touch with black struggle and urban politics.
black politics?
