That was my first thought as I heard of this as well. 9/11 would have quite a lot less eventful as well, if people, including pilots, weren't disarmed by federal dictat.
Not to mention all the various dictatorships around the world. What would be the chances of Kim still being around in North Korea if it's population were properly armed. Or Ahmadinejad in Iran, for that matter.
