The Remnant IS Growing - It's Larger Than We Could Ever Imagine

The fiat dollar is failing as all confidence is lost in the dollar itself. The remnant is indeed growing.

As the dollar is falling, it is adding wood to the fire that Dr. Congressman Ron Paul has sparked; the fire that is the R3volution. Thomas Jefferson would be proud.
I know in my own life, I immediately stopped borrowing when I realized what I was doing. It was my fault to have wanted more than I needed and to actually purchase based on those wants with money I did not have.
I was lucky though. I woke myself up from a self induced prison, while I still have income to spare. While my debts are high, I still, fortunately, have enough monthly income to cover it and then some. When I truly realized how far I had dug myself, I decided to stop digging and start climbing out and still have the means to do so. I consider myself blessed.
I do not consider myself to be the most astute student of economics (as Master C will quickly point out), but I figured out the borrowing game was not one that I could win. I stopped that behavior.
I believe many millions more of us have reached this same conclusion. The banks have money to lend as the Fed is dumping hundreds of billions into them regularly. Perhaps it is the consumer wishing not to consume any longer and to instead pay their debts and obligations is what this crisis is all about. I could borrow a cool $20,000 tomorrow to have a swimming pool installed, could still make the payments confortably with my current means, but I don't need anything other than building up wealth and paying down my obligations.
Many millions of us have EVERYTHING we could need and more. It is pilling up in closets of millions of McMansions across this great land. I know as I live in a suburban McMansion cluster world. Most of the people I see around me have 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 2,200 plus square feet, along with full basements. Their basements and storage areas are filled to the brink. Overflow works its way into the garage to the point that not even the frigid beginning months of winter and snow will drive many of these homeowners to clear out enough stuff from their 2 car garage to pull their cars into.
The Americans I know need nothing more other than food, clothing, a sustained income, and most importantly the rebuilding of their own wealth. The type of American I know can indeed rebuild wealth.
Now that I have wakened from my coma I can see who is taking my wealth in the name of the need for more credit, the Federal Reserve. Credit for banks, credit for investment firms, credit for companies, credit for homeowners, and credit for consumers is being espoused by our great Washington leaders as a cure to the problem. More borrowing by our government from the Federal Reserve is what they say will fix this economy. Borrowing more will only allow the economy to survive in terms of the institutions that make money from us borrowing. I do not believe this will work as more borrowing will not get me out of my debt obligations.
Even though I wish to no longer subject myself to digging into debt with more credit cards, home equity loans, signature loans, consolidation loans, and whatever other financial mechanisms that are available, the government is still forcing me to borrow anyway. They are forcing me to borrow with the monetary policy of the Federal Reserve that touches us all in the value of the dollar.
I will build my own wealth. I will fight to and get my confiscated wealth back from these blasted income taxes while addressing the inflation/debt tax of the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve can only function if someone wants to take this debt. The consumer can end this system in the blink of an eye and I believe the consumer may be wising up.
All libertarian followers will still have a lot of people to educate about the deeds of our government, but I believe the remnant is larger than we could ever understand. Dr. Congressman Ron Paul is absolutely right, our numbers are indeed growing. Our country is ripe for the R3volution so don't let the talking box of talking heads lead you to believe there is any other problem than people are waking from their own self-induced slavery and realize borrowing to cure their financial indiscretions will not work for longer than the short term. The confidence in this fiat dollar scheme has been lost as knowledge is spreading and the only thing that backs this fiat system is pure economical ignorance.
Talk all you can about all you know all of the time. You will be surprised how many more people actually understand the Federal Reserve now. Once they wake up from their coma, it will be impossible to go back in. Once they have given themselves knowledge, it will be impossible to UN-learn it.
You will never know when someone has that "Ah-ha!" moment where it all becomes clear. I can't exactly pinpoint it other than with Dr. Congressman Ron Paul's message in the Republican debates. From there I was off to the races and reading more about economics than I have in my prior 29 years of living and now I will do everything in my power to reeducate America one by one on the greatness of the Jeffersonian freedom and liberty message that made our country great.
I like what blogger Veronica Ray states about her idea behind the quote, "No Army can stop an idea whose time has come."
She writes,
"It is just a matter of time. The R3volution is growing and now. Every once in a while, we - America, humanity - take a giant leap forward. It may seem sudden to some or even all of us. It may seem unexpected. It may seem unbelievable. But the time comes, the stars align, the tipping point is reached, the universe cracks open, and it happens.
This is just such a moment. Look up and see it. Listen and hear it. Be still and let it speak to you. Thank your higher power that you are alive at this moment. Don't be afraid. Be amazed. And then... go forward into a whole new world. For we will never be the same again. We will be better."
The exiting of the 2008 Presidential run by Ron Paul was not the end of liberty, it was merely beginning of recapturing it. I loved watching the video of Ron Paul already campaigning with a head of steam in Houston this past Saturday along with 38 other cities. No media biased will cool this down. No media forcing of Sarah Palin down our throats will veer us off course.
I am saving myself by stopping my own borrowing as I have no confidence in the fiat dollar. The house of cards has unveiled by a true patriot. Be a true patriot and educate America. You might find you have more like-minded thinkers like yourself out there.

This is a good article,
but it doesn't address how to build wealth in these times. We are debt-free aside from the house and have been for sevral years now. We live in a 3200 square foot house but we drive older vehicles that are paid for and we pay our credit card balance in full every month. We live well within our means and have been lucky to afford a nice standard of living. We do not waste money on junk we don't need.
The problem is - because of this whole financial mess, we are not earning much at all on our savings and stocks are way down. We bought some gold and transferred some funds to Schiff's investment firm recently....but how does one "create their own wealth" today? Do we hold on to our dollars that will most likely lose value? We considered buying some foreclosed properties and renting them out but I'm just too nervous about taking that on. It's just hard to know what to do.
what state are you in?
there are different ways depending on what state you are in....
I don't think that this is how it is going to happen
Many dollar collapse scenarios forget the most important point.
They have complete control of government, finance and the media.
Suggesting that they will lose that does not make sense to me.
They engineer monetary movements in order to serve their goals.
I read my first "collapse"book in 1981. I agree that the system always looks like it is ripe for collapse.
The threat of collapse is also a tool for them. It is one of things they scare us with.
So when I see a post that suggests "the end is near" I tend to put in a file with all the rest of the doom scenarios.
I do not think it serves "them" to have a dollar collapse so there will not be one.
I suggest that "they" will in fact collapse themselves relatively soon and this will be because more of us learn the truth about our world each day.
The man behind the curtain is, after all, just a guy standing behind a curtain.

I live in a nice upscale neighborhood
My neighbors are amazed how my wife and I can afford living there when I am retired with a total income of about $29,000.00. Well, I paid off my mortgage, have no car payment (always buy used with cash) and debt free. So, all I spend my money on is food, utilities and a few clothes. My phone service is Skype which costs me $29.00/year unlimited USA/Canada (works great). We fix all of our meals at home from scratch from whole foods (rarely if ever eat in restaurants). I have no cable or satellite T.V.). My entertainment is rented $1.00 DVD's, reading and the internet. We are very healthy, happy, want for nothing and can still sock away around $5,000 per year. I have not charged a dime on credit cards for well over eight years. It is truly shocking when one realizes just how well they can live when they are NOT good little consumers. Screw the banks. Viva the revolution!

You are my hero
I am doing the same thing, but, you've got me on cable, I pay 13.95/mo and I eat out once a week.
Parents brought up in the depression teach you that you save up for the purchase....cheaper that way.

I agree Jdayh
One can't borrow one's self out of debt.
I'm basically debt free - have been since early '90s. I will not take credit from The System no matter what. If I can't pay cash I go without until I can pay cash. I educate myself in the things I want to know about. The System's education is all about homogenization, regimentation and unquestioning obedience to unelected authority figures (rules, teachers and coaches).
You are correct there are a lot of people becoming more and more independent, aware and self-sufficient - just what The System does not want. So the country is dividing itself just as predicted it would.

Well spoken, Jdayh! I am substantially older than you, but also woke up one day to see the mess I have put myself in. It will take a long time to clean this up, but at least I, too, have finally found the right track. I wish I had seen this twenty years ago. If I had, the possibility of retirement would still be alive and well, but what can I say? I suckered myself and it was too easy a sell. I hope other people wake up to this much, much sooner.

Thanks for the great post jdayh,
I suggest we look out into the world for more who are already taking independent action, without calling it capitalism or arguing about abstract ideology. We can get our own projects going or join people already up and running and not waiting for governments to change.
Look at Ode Magazine, based out of California and the Netherlands, "for intelligent optimists," their December issue has a major section titled, "3 Ways to Build a Better Economy." Maybe they won't all work but the point is, people are taking private, independent action. One article mentions "Parallel currencies that encourage the exchange of goods and services when the conventional money system fails."
The quote is from Bernard Lietaer, an expert on international money systems and currency. Probably he's not a Misesian, may be even socialist, but he has information and ideas worth knowing. An interview about "a new kind of money" is mentioned at: odemagazine.com/lietaer.
Sorry I haven't vetted this, just opened this Ode issue last night.
The point is: the world is big and rich with ideas beyond this great DP site,
beyond the pure libertarian movement. Just because most people don't label themselves libertarians or free market capitalists, many are already doing good work for freedom and peace. We can move, create, support good projects and make real contributions by helping people better see
how consistent principles of freedom benefit the world, and create alternatives to government monopolies.
Can you
suppy an article link so we all can view this?

I just typed in the web address
ODEMAGAZINE.COM/LIETAER and a list came up; one has an article titled, "Money is so last century" That's it, reprinted from 2005. Very interesting, in it Lietaer predicts the debt crisis and details various historic and current international parallel money systems. Also his explanation of the function of money is worth reading.
Sorry I don't know how to supply the actual link.
Wow, what a nice
positive thread. Thank you for posting this. I REALLY need some positive feed to keep going. One day at a time.

Good message...
...I'm glad that there are other people out there in the same situations. This is the conclusion I came to some months back. It has really slowed down my spending...and I'm glad that fuel prices have been manipulated back down so we can get a breather. The food prices are skyrocketing though, it is a sad commentary on our society when you could load up a cart with prepared "food" and snacks for a fraction of what fresh "raw" food costs. I digress.
Where can I get one of these "End the Fed" stamps? I want to start decorating all of the debt notes...I mean fiat IOUs...you know what I mean...that I pass out.

Thanks for the uplifting thoughts
I will try to be more positive. Maybe it's different where you live, but I don't know a single soul who even wants to think about being realistic. So my pocket of the world looks grim, but it's encouraging to know there is sanity somewhere out there.
An uplifting message
Thank you...I tend toward a "it's the end of the world" point of view on this subject, so I appreciate the overall positive tone of your message. I've got my "End the Fed" stamp, too, and I've already stamped every FRN in my wallet with it and will do the same with every one of them I get, as well as the mail I send. (Yes, I still do use snail mail.) :)
I know what's coming and I don't know what we can do to stop this train wreck at this point (yes, there I go again!), but if we do have the chance to rebuild this republic, we'll be the ones left standing to do it.
Positive Indeed
I have been a doom and gloomer for quite some time myself, but then I realized how many are opening their eyes and waking from their sleep. We are starting the r3volution and many more are gathering for the cause.
love it love it love it
is it possible that the bankrupting of the corporation-UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is in the republics best interest? i see that there is a turn here on the DP about change that is coming and of course inevitable. most all here know what is coming and are prepared. now all that needs to happen is for us to help the winds of change to blow in a favorable way for everyone!! yes?

No question numbers of people potentially on our side are large.
And those numbers are growing everyday. What is a much less hopeful aspect is the fact that we have little effective means of directing their energies politically.
After the Third Parties were squashed three weeks ago, almost everyone in the movement gave up on them. This is unfortunate, because that means that in every presidential cycle, we will revert to the eight years Republican, eight years Democrat holding pattern that gives the elites a deathgrip on the Executive Branch, and anything that resembles real change at the federal level. All we can do in that case is hope that Republicans will toss us a few crumbs from their table, or that some of them will be educated by the viral spreading of ideas.
In the final analysis, what will determine whether we can win anything is whether or not we can get wealthy donors on our side. We need very rich people in this movement supporting it. As the economy collapses, that's our best shot at pumping up the movement.
If we sit around arguing about trivia and fantasizing that at the grassroots we can do it by ourselves, we'll still be in the same shape four years from now that we are today.

What happend
When did Americans begin to think that its not about how much you make but about how much you can borrow. I make a small living but I can borrow around 15k. How does that make sense. Before I woke up I though I was the swizzle. Before I woke up I could borrow 50k. Now I know its all a game. The house always wins. The citizen always loses.
I now know that its not about what you can borrow but about what you can make. Want a fancy new car? Find a higher paying job. Simple. I fear though with the majority of Americans they will beg to be enslaved by debt for that fancy new car. Just to say they were approved for a 50k loan. Making ungodly payments for the rest of their life. Hey its the American way.
