I wonder how much of a boost to the economy 100% legalization of cannabis

Just imagine the billions saved from local and state law enforcement, not to mention DEA and the thousands of prisoners and the strain on the judical system...I also have wondered how the privacy argument as applied in Roe v. Wade has not been successful in defeating the drug policies...

The reason the drug is still

The reason the drug is still illegal is because A). they want teenagers on it, and B). it would open the door to other drug re-classifications which would in turn ruin the world economy that his propped up partly with drug money. . .think of all those billions now out of the same old hands, and not a government in the world with the understanding to divert it all into good use!

Yeah, it's like my buddy Lorenzo says, him quoting Terrence McKenna, "Lay low, stay high, and keep the old faith!"

Industrial Hemp alone...

Would create a large boost to not just our economy, but our NATIONAL HEALTH.

Come on folks, spread the darn word!

With True Free Markets?

The Sky is the Limit.. Thomas Paine listed mucho cannabis as a reason we could win the war in "Common Sense".

Bayer already has a cannabis mouth spray developed for medicine.
The BioOils, bio-diesel, Protiens Feed Grain from hemp seed, which is now about our only alternative to GMO foods.

Thousands of products and business's would crop up that had nothing to do with getting high. But, there would be certain places that was cool to for adults. Marijuana use among teens would go down.

As a father of 2 and a advocate for legalization, of course I don't want my kids smoking anything. When framed honestly as both a sacrament and medicine the cannabis plant will no longer be abused but a great benefit to society. A Children when given the fact will make rational choices.

Pharmacuticals could go nuts with different formulations including cannaboids. Nice Dream..

I would even...

pay a tax on it if I bought it.

but wouldn't it be a nice addition

to your garden?

Well since taxes are enforced

by physical force (or the threat thereof), would you really even have a choice? ;-)

I could see

them using the fibers to print money and with the elimination of the black market control there would be a instant drop in crime. But to get something like cannibis legal you would have to go thru Dupont Corp. who would lobby har against such measures I'm sure.

I can see it now

Streets and highways clogged with munchee-mobiles delivering to all the stoners. Ice cream trucks and lunchwagons rolling through your neighborhood every few hours... Street vendors could retire in just a few years. You'd only have to get up off your dead ass if you wanted a buffet.

That would be something.. lol

The War on Drugs doesn't stop people from using...

It only allows your liberty to be taken away by the police and the DEA. Legalizing would restore your liberty and allow all the users to be taxed as they should be.

All I'm saying is that your

All I'm saying is that your average American is too stupid to be allowed to enjoy anything--let it be alcohol or drugs--and that's a fact!!!

Look at all these fools rushing into Walmart and stampeding people--WTF???

Americans are dumb-downed monkeys and the last thing we need is to allow them to be even further lower their IQ.

Please, think about all the stupid people in your community, do we really need to make these people even more stupid???

no

but these stupid people deserve the right to make their own choices, what you said is fundamentaly anti-freedom. We don't need to use violence(law) to protect stupid people from themselves.

No, we need to protect our

No, we need to protect our freedom from all of these idiots who will smoke themselves into an even worse stupor and vote for a Mexican equivalent of Lenin in 2012! Ha ha! You watch, it's coming anyway!!!

I have zero hope for this country so I take it all back... LEGALIZE IT!!! LET THE SHEEP DROWN IN IT!!!!

Understand

That the government includes you and I in this group of stupid people. So if they go around passing laws like oh, say, a nationwide assault weapon ban what they are in all reality saying is "We can't let these idiots run around with guns. They'll blow the hell out of everything.". The government doesn't pass laws that differentiate between smart and stupid people, thats not getting into the fact that stupid as used in conversation is a relative term, and what you call stupid I may simply call misguided or lazy. Each person should have the right to do as they please provided they do not harm another person. Let me sum up my rambling. YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO TELL PEOPLE WHAT THEY CAN AND CANNOT DO WITH THEIR OWN BODIES. That you should recognize as one of the fundamental cornerstones of liberty if you don't then I don't think this movement is right for you.

America is not

America is not intellectually stable enough to legalize it now--too much lowlife trash in our country!

I just had a great conversation with a kid from Amsterdam. He was in a bar that I frequent and we were talking about marijuana and Amsterdam. He was telling me that Amsterdam is absolute crap now! Pimps, "gangstas," and riffraff have completely taken over. This is a 21 year old black guy telling me this--he said immigration has ruined it for everyone and sooner or later the laws will be repealed.

He said the silly thing about it, the idiot politicians will repeal the drug laws before they tackle the real problem which is immigration.

Sound familiar?

that is the fact

Maybe not immigration, but the failure of immigrants to integrate into the societies is causing problems.

Norway/Sweden are feeling some pain due to lack of integration into the cultural norms. This is causing increased street crime, panhandling, and abuse of social benefits.

I agree that immigration is

I agree that immigration is a serious problem for any country, but America is a special place because the nationals are just as stupid!

Just turn on MTV to see what I mean....

Yeah!

There's far too much bigotry and pure stupidity to let people make their own decisions.

Yes, Americans on average are not intellectually

mature enough to have it legalized. The mains culprits of this immaturity? Conservatives.

They believe they need to use force to control the morality of other individuals.

Huh? Conservatives don't

Huh? Conservatives don't control squat! The corporations control what you see, hear, eat and intoxicate yourself with....

Corporations, ie. pharmaceutical ones...

do play a role. I think it is a combination of people wanting to legislate morality (conservatives) along with the corporations' and their interests.

And the conservatives do have control. They elect a lot of conservative politicians in to office.

alchol

Americans weren't mature enough for alcohol, and look where that led us.
Now we aren't mature enough for some other naturally grown substance?

oops wrong place sorry

!

cw

If only...

As it stands, people are willing to pay $100/oz for shitty Mexican brick weed. They pay $300/oz for quality pot. (standard MN prices, if you do better great if not, ha ha) Turn American agribusiness loose on this plant (they call it "weed" for a reason) and prices would PLUMET. This stuff is easier to grow than tobacco, and an oz of that stuff costs like $2 before taxes. They could put a 1000% tax on marijuana and potheads would still save money. Throw in the savings on enforcement/imprisonment and you've got yourself a fiscal miracle.

Did I mention that its a good source of enthanol? You can smoke it AND fuel your car.

and speaking of tobacco

how about making it legal to grow your own.... (illegal here in canada too)

you know, without all the additives...and taxes. I am a serial addict now so let me grow my own ...

just sayin...

cw

I don't smoke the stuff, but

I don't smoke the stuff, but I sure would love to grow it if it were legal....at my age I am far too old to face hard time.
