If Thailand can dissolve THEIR corrupt political parties, WHY CAN'T WE??
BANGKOK, Thailand – The Constitutional Court dissolved Thailand's top three ruling parties for electoral fraud Tuesday and temporarily barred the prime minister from politics, bringing down a government that faced months of strident protests seeking its ouster.
The ruling set the stage for thousands of protesters to end their seige of the country's two main airports. Members of the People's Alliance for Democracy protest group at Bangkok's international airport cheered and hugged after they heard news of the verdict.
"My heart is happy. My friends are very happy," said Pailin Jampapong, a 41-year-old Bangkok housekeeper choking back tears as she jumped up and down.
Government spokesman Nattawut Sai-kau said that Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat and his ruling, six-party coalition would step down.

the predecessor of the now outlawed PPP, the Thai Rak Thai Party was also ordered to dissolve. The leader of the party is barred from politics for 5 years, which has more effect. Yet the PPP simply reorganise themselves in another party, that has already been registered in September or earlier by the wife of the now ousted PM. It all depends who the replacement will be.
I hope
and pray that this event spreads to every corner of the globe and it acts as a catalyst to spark the flames of revolution world wide.
Then maybe then after so many other countries rise up and we see it enough times here maybe just maybe the people here with have the courage to stand on their own.

Wow, I fell down a rabbit hole this morning.
Because I was wondering what this would mean for the estimated 70,000 -low figure- (Myanmar) Burmese refugees surviving in camps along the border and for the some 2.5 million Burmese exiles and students living in Thailand. The US receives thousands of Burmese refugees every year (search: UN refugee relocation program). If you do not know the history of Burma, I recommend reading this... http://www.khrg.org/background_on_burma.html This is the HORRIFYING (current) history that has chilling similarities to the DP'ers worst fears for (fema camps and agenda 21 type scenarios) America.
It will be interesting to see how Burma's military and Thailand's military handle this "transition". Thailand has depended on and enjoyed cheap labor from refugee/migrant workers.
And on a more interesting (a.k.a. conspiracy or whatever) note, while in the little rabbit hole, following links. I found this fascinating nugget (from reuters Pakistan's Daily Times) dated OCTOBER 23, 2008 "Three dead in riots following Indian firebrand leader’s arrest"
* Protesters set trains on fire to protest attacks against migrant workers in Mumbai
MUMBAI: Three people were killed in overnight rioting in India’s Maharashtra state after the arrest of a firebrand politician accused of inciting violence against migrant workers, police said on Wednesday." http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2008\10\23\story_23-10-2008_pg4_17
I stumbled upon that one because I had been reading THIS one: India to seal border with Myanmar after blast ....."The rebels escaped across a largely unguarded border to their camps in neighbouring Myanmar, police said. Manipur shares a long porous border with Myanmar of around 370 km and security officials want the entire stretch to be barbed-wired to stop smuggling of weapons and explosives. Ringed by China, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Bhutan, India’s northeast is home to more than 200 tribes and has been racked by separatist revolts since India gained independence from Britain in 1947. You know, maybe I am just too abstract in my thinking processes..but I have learned one thing for certain over the last couple of years. The "news" as it is sold to us, is completely superficial and to find the truth in matters, one must do a little independent digging...just to find shreds, pieces and dots. Why? curiosity, I guess. Does it matter? I honestly don't know...i certainly annoy myself (and my husband and kids : ) I mean, we ALL knew that Pakistan would be blamed for Mumbai...so i find it ironic and amusing that I was researching what is happening in Thailand and it brought me to a Myanmar-Mumbai issue as reported from Pakistan. The ties that bind. What is the one thing the US, Myanmar (Burma) India and Pakistan all have in common? All have gained independence from Britain...and if the queen ain't happy, ain't nobody happy..."off with their heads" LOL.
Because those people are
Because those people are willing to take a stand and die right there. Is why we will never get anywhere.
"Moreover, as America becomes an increasingly multicultural society, it may find it more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstances of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat."
"But, indeed, no private person has a right to complain, by suit in court, on the ground of a breach of the Constitution. The Constitution it is true, is a compact, but he is not a party to it."

The military did not back the Thai government
and would not act against the protestors; and pretty universally the people were horrified when briefly the police used violence.
