New Owners

I think Jim Rogers does slightly better with the "let them fail" advice. Jim points out that a failed company will be run by new owners who may do a better job. The company and its assets don't disappear when bankruptcy is declared. A bankrupt company is taken over and reorganized by creditors.

This moderator in London set the stage for the assertion: let them fail and we all fail for years. Peter says just, yes, let them fail. Jim Rogers explains, let better managers purchase and take over the failed enterprises. This gives some hope for a revival (which is more true than the no-hope version).

But this complaint of mine is nit-picky. Peter does a marvelous job.

It's fine that he says it over and over -- about the same in each interview. New people in the audience hear him each time.

Some even wind up coming here to Daily Paul!

liberty yields harmony; tyrany yields chaos

liberty yields harmony; tyrany yields chaos

That's not entirely true.

That's not entirely true. Schiff has on numerous occasions mentioned the same thing that the factories won't dissapear and they will be taken over by more competent people. He just didn't happen to mention that in this particular video segment.

Technical problems DO happen.

But isn't it funny how they tend to happen in the government's favor. I remember watching Olberman rant (I don't do that often) and he started to go off about how Clinton was put under oath over a BJ but Bush and Cheney weren't over 9/11. Within a few sentences, CNN was gone until he started talking about something else.

Why does everybody jump

straight to "They cut him off!" Maybe there was a problem. Why does it even bother you? You'll never know one way or another.

If it's meant to be it's up to WE!

If it's meant to be it's up to WE!

Paranoid.

Why bring him on at all if there was some man behind the curtain who didn't want him to speak? Everyone already knows what he's going to say, as he says the same things in each interview, so they wouldn't have brought him on in the first place.

you might be

you might be surprised!

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐

Why do you assume it was CNN

Why do you assume it was CNN that cut him off?

"Obama’s Economists: ‘Stimulus’ Has Cost $278,000 per Job."

That means: For each job "created or saved" about five were destroyed.

good grief again...

i CANNOT believe all the people on this thread bashing peter schiff...what the hell is wrong with you people???

he is a DAMN good guy and knows exactly what the hell he is talking about.

if you bash him you obviously just DON"T GET IT!

Ron Paul is My President

Ron Paul is My President

Need I also remind those

Need I also remind those bashing Peter Schiff that he was one of Ron Paul's economic advisers during his campaign?

While I am not sure I agree with everything Peter says (his optimism in foreign markets and currencies may be unfounded), he has been very accurate in his predictions so far.

True enough

But the point is that if the foreign currencies collapse, too, then we're in so much hurt there was no way for you to have really preserved your wealth in an effective fashion.

good grief...

"i'm sorry we've lost our guest there...technical problems"

what's the now infamous line from that movie - a few good men:
YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

Ron Paul is My President

Ron Paul is My President

Maybe the Ron Paul supporters

RonPaulLincoln
should start a "Free Irwin Schiff" campaign. Irwin is Peters father and is featured in "Freedom to Fascism". All he does is state the facts and is imprisoned for his knowledge and truth. Wouldn't Peter and Ron be proud of us!

End the FED
End the IRS
Free America from financial slavery!

RonPaulLincoln

Now why is it that

we are not throwing his name in the pot for President or vp???? And Napolitano, why isn't his name front and center. I know people want him in the courts, but first things first.

Maybe we should be looking at a Napolitano/Schiff ticket if Dr. Paul isn't available.

As I recall, Peter said he didn't feel

that he was electable due to his family history (Dad and the tax bit) but he would love to serve (maybe Treasury Secretary) helping to put the country back on a solid footing. I hope to see him in Government one day.

Did his dad actually do something wrong?

I figured his dad is a hero he should be proud of, but I haven't followed the story.

He challenged the IRS.

He challenged the IRS. Depends on your definition of wrong.

Yes, yes, yes

yes, yes, yes my thoughts as well. This I could get behind, we need these two front and center.

And her comment was...

"I'm sorry we lost him". I'm sorry the party leadership in this country is not sitting down and talking with Peter every day to understand how they need to let the government stand down on these insane bailouts and stimuli that they keep borrowing from other countries, (and printing dollars) to dole out on our soil and prolong the pain and suffering here at home.

Peter lives here in the good ole USA

"As Americans, we do not swear an oath to protect the government or even the nation, but rather to protect the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic" Peter Schiff Crash Proof

and also from his book
"Over the next 10 years the dollar is going to depreciate against other currencies, by what degree they're not sure. But it is widely believed that, despite occasional hiccups, the dollar will continue is 40 year decline. With our lack of savings and current account deficits, it has to......"

I don't know if he will turn out to be correct on all accounts in the end, but his basic philosophy is that the country will need putting back together again when this is over. Investing abroad to protect oneself and family from dollar rot is the proper path to preserve wealth which will make it possible for as many who will listen to financially survive this hurricane. Funds can be repatriated at tat time so the rebuilding can commence.

In reading his book I never had the sense he was anti-American, far from it. He is a Libertarian, an Austrian Economist, amazingly prescient and a Patriot who wishes to see America thrive once again.

Thanks You Susan....BUMP

Ugh

what's with the horrible accent? I can barely understand that woman is this the BBC?

Look at the labels and maps under the images.

This is the international version of CNN. Notice that the interviewer is in London.

"Obama’s Economists: ‘Stimulus’ Has Cost $278,000 per Job."

That means: For each job "created or saved" about five were destroyed.

Peter lives here-let me say it again

And that did look like a technical problem, not Peter being cut off.

We get made fun of alot for being conspiracy theorists

This kind of post is why. Let's not speculate until there is more evidence. Peter said what he had to say, got his point out and then a technical problem occured. Until we can say otherwise with credible evidence let's refreain from going bat-poo about every percieved slight.

Trolling Flaming Fartherders

Chill out.

It seems those with REAL PRINCIPLE get bashed on this forum.

Peter Schiff is a hero of the Libertarian movement.

He is right on 90% +++ economic issues.

Peter Schiff is PRO-AMERICA all the way... and is honest enough to tell us what's wrong with this country, and how we can fix it.

He is simply warning people that we have long been headed down the wrong path.

Ron Paul for Peace!

Was he cut off or was it a technical problem?

What I am very interested in is some opinion of a video/tv engineer. I saw this clip in Europe a week ago, and the "lost connection effect" that I recall seeing over there was a different one, more with horizontal lines rather then diagonal. It totally doesn't make sense in the digital age to have this effect that reminds me of televisions in the '80's getting bad signal. You would expect the image of Peter to freeze or so.

Anyway: this might have been a loss of connection, but the timing makes me wonder. The CNN anchor lady just made her supposedly strongest pro-government / pro-banks move (throw away hand gesture while ridiculing the concept of the invisible hand), and Peter was about to counter it completely.

Just wondering if some editor actually has a big red panic button for situations like this :-)

Wouldn't You Know It

I just wrote a long piece to expand on your thoughts, I press "Post Comment" and lo and behold, my wireless internet connection cuts out, sending my post into the Web's equivalent of the Bermuda Triangle.

I guess these things happen sometimes?? :-) Can't be bothered to rewrite my post now (bedtime).

With this interview though, I think the plug was pulled. If you go back two weeks and search for a Peter Schiff interview on the CNN Campbell Brown show, you'll find that Peter's signal was cut then too, albeit just for a few seconds. It's like someone just can't take what he's saying any longer and hits a button.
