With all that bad news on a Friday?

few weeks old but interesting video...could be related?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muFred6WzTY

500 point swing

from being down 250 to being up 250

This is bizarre

Worst unemployment numbers in 34 years, automakers are hiring bankruptcy attorneys and their bailout is being filibustered, late mortgages and foreclosures are still climbing, and the market goes up. What am I missing? Where is the good news? Bizarre....

Looks like the pattern is about to be broken!

If it's going to close down at all, it better head that way SOON!

Is it possible

that most of the traders know little more about what they are doing than we do? How many are old enough to know what a bear market looks like, never mind how to trade in one? I don't doubt that a few 'Top Dogs' have been able to predict and/or manipulate present conditions to their favor but, to believe that every move is controlled is Unreasonable. If everyone is in on the conspiracy, there is no conspiracy. The Plumber

The Plumber

Based on what some of these

Based on what some of these so called "experts" say on CNBC, yes I believe it is very possible. These guys have tunnel vision.

http://federalfallacy.blogspot.com

Exactly. There is no conspiracy.

There is just a lot of individuals acting with their own knowledge and emotions. When enough traders with enough money start putting their money in the market, wanting it to go up, it goes up. When enough start shorting, it goes down. Pretty basic.

We just went green, now up over 100.

You should change the data in your title.

It's interesting that no one ever reports positive market results here unless they add the ridiculous claim that it's the all-powerful "PPT" that did it.

If it moves down, it's because of the bad economy. If it moves up it's because of the PPT. So where was the PPT on the days when market has ended down? Go figure.

1 week 3 days

Eventually the pattern becomes obvious. The PPT was made to manipulate the market. Where's the economy?

http://killfiat.blogspot.com/

Where has the PPT been

all this time? Have you noticed how far the market has dropped from the all time high? Traders move the market, not the "PPT." Real powerful "PPT" you've got there. If the traders with most money want it go down, it goes down. If we want it to go up, it goes up.

Are you going to change the

Are you going to change the title of this thread every 20 minutes? What's the point of posting such transitory data?

I'm buying.

.

On what?

Have you completely lost your mind? I bet you are shorting everything in sight! So do you think that as jobs are shed in this country and around the world that turns into more buying power? What a joke! I kept hearing all morning about how the numbers were better than truly expected. What a joke! 1.9 million people are out of work and if you look at people that have been cut to part time and less pay the number goes to around 2.7 million. Salaries are being cut, hours cut, jobs lost, bonds (what a joke too), the dollar (dead), and you are buying? Good luck buddy.

I don't care about the economic fundamentals.

I'm a technical trader. I started shorting at the top of the market for technical reasons. Among other things, it was the high of May 2000 so it was obviously a place to start selling, when everybody was happy and optimistic. Now 815 is major support on the S&P 500, so it's time to buy when everyone is gloomy and pessimistic. News on fundamentals don't matter unless you have inside information before the news comes out. Stocks have already moved their major move before the news comes out, due to trading by those with inside information. It's the guy who is making his trading decisions based on the news after it comes out that loses his ass. He's the sucker I buy from, or cover my shorts from.

Agreed. As I've said before,

Agreed. As I've said before, once something is widely known, it's too late.

FAR worse than expected job

FAR worse than expected job numbers and terrible foreclosure numbers.....And the Dow hasn't been down more than 250 all morning.

PPT hard at work. There is no other explanation.

http://federalfallacy.blogspot.com

The PPT my ass.

There is a technical support level on the S&P where I and other traders have been buying.

I'm no expert, but I've noticed a pattern

If it holds true---today will drop around 500 points. Somebody lock me in.

Right now, with the market

Right now, with the market is such disarray, it is just a game of chicken between the large traders. Every time they manufacture a rise or drop by buying and selling, they are skimming money off of their clients.

Who is "manufacturing a rise or drop"

and how are they doing it?

I believe the PPT is trying

to keep it from going into and closing in the 7000 range. What do you think?

I believe they are slowly crashing it

The people are so retarded and have such short attention spans that they can drop it a few hundred points a week and have a day or two of upticks and call it a "rally". The stock market was exciting for a week or so, now it's old news in sheep minds. A few hundred points a day,big deal "it does that every day".

Somebody tell me this, if we run ito hyper-inflation will the stock market appear to rally big time just to correct for the new value of the dollar?

Believe what you want to believe.

You'll make up some kind of secret plot behind a market move, in retrospect, whichever way it goes.
