How Ron Paul wins in 2012 - A MUST READ!
Submitted by Romang on Thu, 12/11/2008 - 12:32
Doug Wead, who worked to help elect Reagan and Bush senior describes a victory strategy for 2012. The difference in this strategy is that it comes from an experienced , long time campaigner and political insider. this is a must read.

I don't understand what the problem is with his age since there are several Senators and Congressman older than Ron and it isn't an issue. Dr. Paul is one the sharpest most energetic 72 yr olds walking the planet and if he decides to run again great but he if doesn't I hope he endorses one of his colleagues then actively supports them.
No Cult of Personality
this needs to be about principles, philosophies, and ideas, not one man. The public won't accept such an old man even though i'd die for him. we need Johnson/Goldwater 2012!!!
Where were you when we needed you?
I didn't know Ron Paul existed at the time of the Iowa Straw Poll in 2008.
But if I knew then what I know now, my advice for the RP campaign would have been to win that Straw Poll at all costs.
You might ask,"Duh, he wasn't even INVITED to their presidential debate, how could we have won?"
From what I understand, early Ron Paul supporters (maybe one in particular?) poisoned the well in Iowa by making brash and obnoxious statements to the leaders of the powerful Iowa Christian Alliance.
http://www.iowachristian.com/
The Iowa Christian Alliance is the best funded, best organized, and best disciplined evangelical political organization in Iowa. They are VERY influential at every level of GOP politics in Iowa and can make or break even well-funded and well-publicized candidates.
The "skunk at the picnic" idiots (moles?) who came in throwing their non-existent weight around the Iowa political scene, managed to do more damage in a few minutes than we could undo by months of letter-writing and money-bombing.
Like I said, I was oblivious to any of this at the time. I only became aware of it later as my wife and I tried to scramble our way through the Iowa GOP delegate process.
And for those of you who say Ron Paul will be too old in 2012, you may be right.
But everything Doug Wead says remains true for ANY freedom-loving GOP presidential candidate in 2011. The logic that he uses to explain his opinion is 100% dead on with everything I have learned about Iowa and national politics.
Iowa is KEY.
If we don't make a splash early they will bury us.

Lots of hand cramping
Call me stupid but why did a bunch of us write so many letters to Iowans if we weren't trying to get RP into the "spotlight" in Iowa?
I like the author's enthusiasm, and pray that such a scenario would come to pass...but I don't see how the media will have become any less corrupt in a few years time..

best idea i've read in a long time
put this on the short list of things to do immediately!
Reality Check-
Would be great yes, but reality is, into your mid 70's It's about time to throw in the towel on running for president. God Bless him, I hope it is possible and there is no doubt he would have my vote, but there comes a time when people just want to settle down and enjoy the rest of their life.
Point is, don't get your hopes up too high.
I'm sure he will never quit fighting for freedom, but I would bet he will resign the idea of running for president by then.
I have book called "Never Be Sick Again"
It's by Raymond Francis. He opens the book by telling about how he was on his death bed at age 47 after succumbing to stress in a career in high finance. Doctors told him he was incurably anemic, that they could find nothing wrong with him, and that there was nothing they could do for him. He was so allergic to toxins that he couldn't read books because the ink put off fumes that would make him pass out. He weighed 120 lbs. and was THIS close to death.
He pulled himself out of that condition through sheer will power and self medicating with organic foods and supplements, and went on to become one of the world's most knowledgeable health experts. His website is http://www.beyondhealth.com.
Anyhow, in the book he went on to describe societies where people regularly live to 140 years old, and 100 year old men lug many gallons of water uphill every day and regularly father children! His theory is that there is only one disease (cellular malfunction), two causes (nutritional deficiency, toxicity), and six pathways (you'll have to look them up yourself because I don't recall off the top of my head after two glasses of anti-oxidant laden red wine). It's a truly amazing book and I highly recommend it to everyone.
Mr. Francis and Dr. Paul are the same age. Mr. Francis says that he regularly tests his vascular system and that he now has the system of a 27 year old! If he can do this, so can Dr. Paul. Besides, he's already a pretty fit old dude... he rides his bike all the time, and remember when he threw those 55 gallon drums into the water at the Tea Party last year?
RON PAUL 2012!!!

Heck yeh
Where there's a will there's a way. I totally subscribe to the concept of curing oneself and staving off aging. It's really quite simple once you understand the concept.
Anybody want to call Jack LaLanne old?
At age 70, handcuffed and shackled, Jack fought strong winds and currents as he swam 1.5 miles while towing 70 boats with 70 people from the Queen's Way Bridge in the Long Beach Harbor to the Queen Mary.
Okay, so Ron Paul is no Jack LaLanne and hasn't been lifting weights all his life, but he does ride a bicycle and has a wonderfully young mind. How many people in their 70s do you know that have his passion -- or that even ride a bike??
Ron Paul too old?
You might be right. But everything he says applies just as much (or even more?) to any new freedom candidate that we might want to promote.
I've been telling people that the REAL presidential ELECTION (not just the nomination) was over after Super Tuesday.
In reality, it was over in the fall of 2007 when Ron Paul (or his campaign) decided NOT to make the all out, feet on the ground, hand-shaking, baby-kissing, full court press blitz in IOWA that could have put him in the race and on to the political radar of national politics.
Without that, he (and we) never stood a chance.

I agree.
Unfortunately, at that time, Ron himself pretty much felt he was running only an educational campaign. It was not until after the first money bomb that he began to see himself as a competitive candidate. He has said as much.
He now knows just how awesome of a candidate he is, so if he decides to run in 2012, he will run to win, from day one.

RP2012!
Just maybe
more people would vote for him. Just maybe he would still have the passion to run. Maybe it would be worth the shot. (I know plenty of people that are sorry now they did not listen when I was pushing for RP--I'm sure you do too!)

Ron Paul trained to be a
Ron Paul trained to be a medical doctor but spent 30 years of his career working in Congress, fighting to restore and protect liberty in the U.S. I don't believe there's any chance he would turn down the opportunity to become President, regardless of how old he was.
...
No offense at all meant by this John
Your comment tells me, you are one of the young RP supporters. Things do indeed change as you age. It really is very much like your parents and grandparents have likely told you, or at some point, inadvertently indicated at one time or another. Values become re-prioritized when time becomes limited. This is human nature and accurate probably 85% of the time to make an educated guess.
Not to start anything but...
If someone is truly passionate about their belief then I think that carries on throughout their lifetime. I may give you your 85% but I will go out on a limb and say that Ron Paul is the exception rather than the rule. I believe he has that fire to see it through that so many lack. Sorry, it's late and I should just go to sleep before I make anyone else mad at me!
to a person chained in a cave, the shadows on the wall are reality
Not making me mad A,
I hope you are correct. I hope as he ages, his physical or mental state, or his spectacular ability to relate to younger people and cherish liberties that he may not at heart really agree with, does not degrade, as is so common beyond the age of 74 or 75(ish). I want to see 2012 happen just as much as you and all of us do, but from one who pays close mind to the past experiences of a half of a lifetime's worth, there is (in our case) the ugly reality of probability. It is a legitimate science you know.

I respect the writer
and I respect the idea and I felt the same way in 2008. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Certainly won't hurt anything to try. And try we must. Wead has a wea bit more confidence in the system than I do, that translates into a hellavulot more confidence, but we have to play in the crooked game, so here we go again. All we need now is Dr. Paul.
Wonderful uplifting read.

I disagree
Ron Paul will not be considered a media darling if he wins the straw poll because they think he can't win. The media doesn't care if he can't win. They just want to do everything they can to make it so he doesn't win. It doesn't matter if he wins a poll or not. They will do a blackout of the poll information. They are a white house propaganda machine.
