Yes we are a republic
But we are a DEMOCRATIC republic. Matter of fact we are the first "Federal Democratic Republic" in the history of the world. In a true "republic" the people would not have a say in who represented them in whatever form of legislative body the republic was made up of. There representatives would be chosen for them. Although our government functions in the form of a republic it is its democratic ideals that make it special. Also the concept of democracy is much older than the idea of a republic and the concept of a republic government was born from democracy in the first place. Consider democracy the father or grandfather of the idea of a republic. Get your facts straights before making ignorant comments. Btw I'm a history professor hear in Georgia.
Are you talking about Plato's republic?
Or Franklin's Republic? Because it seems they are fundamentally different. Plato's republic seems more like an autocratic dictatorship while Franklin's Republic is held together by sovereign values (I'm just using Franklin, but it could also be called Jefferson's Republic, or Paine's Republic or even Smith's Republic because it seems to me our constitution is about a mixture of economic and social values that were a mix of alot of founding fathers visions).

Something about the way he stated "How in the world could that comment have been made on THIS forum?" made me have to check him a little bit that's all. When you are a passionate patriot its hard to keep the fire bottled up all the time as is required and necessary in most intellectual arenas I constantly fine myself in. Nothing personal though. Do understand I used the word ignorant in that post not as an insult but as it actually means...lacking knowledge of or not understanding something.

Could it be that the Greeks are trying to light the fire and give the world Democracy for a second time? First democracy every recorded was 570 B.C. in Greece and 2600 years later we(the world) are still fighting to hang on to it.
Is violence necessary to bring order to the world?
I'm undecided because I know the NWO motto is "order out of chaos" and they've been caught provacteuring false flag attacks in most riots and wars.
Also Ghandi and MLK were very successful with non violent protests.
However, it seems like the only option available to people once their elected officials are owned by the globalists is taking over the government by force.
My current guess is it's gotta be a combination of spontaneous, defensive protesting and diplomacy as in the first Revolutionary War.

If history is any indicator...
If you read and study history most major oppressive regimes were only removed with violence although I don't advocate it. I know now we are supposed to be more "civilized" in the way we function as human beings but the truth is people are people now as they were 3000 years ago. I hope it doen't come to violence to push back the globalist agenda, but it wouldn't suprise me if it did.

People are finally fed up with the fake EU, economically, politically, and socially. Old people don't take to the streets, but the young ones do. I think it is lack of opportunity and complete frustration with the NWO system. I don't think it is communist at core (but those devils will always take advantage of a ripe situation).
There's a Catholic prophecy that predicts revolution in Rome, the pope being forced to flee ... and aided supernaturally to do so .... over the bodies of his bishops and cardinals. In the end, he is found by his enemies (NWO) and suffers a "cruel death." This prophecy was seen in vision by a prior pope (St. Pius X) as well as by several other individuals.
After that, God will send an interior warning to each and every person who has reached the age of reason (6 or 7 years old) ... giving them a clear look at the state of their immortal souls. Some will actually die of the experience, though that is not God's intent Those who are far from God and lead immoral lives will suffer the most in this "warning". God's friends will endure. If people do not repent and amend their lives at this point, we will receive disaster upon disaster. There will be no more apathy, that's for sure! The good will be good and the evil will be evil. If evil persists, WWIII will start and God will send a comet to strike the earth and end the war. Most people will die, but especially the enemies of God. Afterward, another prophecy states that the Muslims will convert to Catholicism and there will be an era of peace ... when they will beat their swords into plowshares.
Many will laugh at this but I'm throwing it out here because it may not be far from fulfillment. Maybe when they see these events happening as described, they will turn their lives around, get on the knees and beg for forgiveness and mercy. That is my purpose for writing these things down.

To put it into perspective
these violence spreads across due to the large number of Greek labour emigrants living all over Europe.
Having said his, there are many interesting aspects on these incident even from a libertarian perspective. I disagree with those writing here that they are staged (though of course there are mainly leftist groups taking the advantage to gain in poularity).
I intend to write an article about these incidents over the week-end.

Here is my two cents.
These riots are orchestrated by undercover intelligence agents and funded by the bankers. Those rioting are young they are not targeting anything in particular just conflict with police. Soon there will be major crack down around the world. I think the powers that be want to take down the current governments and their constitutions and laws replace them with a NEW WORLD GOVERNMENT eventually. This does not look good. If these people want to do something,how about take over the banks or something useful.

I've heard people say it's because of the credit crunch, but how? That's a little too general for me. We're experiencing a credit crunch here but nobody's going to be out in the streets until there's a shortage of plasma screen TVs.
