Just My SUHO (Stupid Uneducated Humble Opinion)
It is my own personal belief that now is the time for all Americans....scratch that..all peoples of the planet, to get stoned, join hands and sing along to the words of John Lennons’ “Imagine”.
What is it about our species that makes us want to literally ‘kill’ those that don’t believe our interpretation of life? ( i.e. I am a ‘Staunch Republican and I ‘HATE’ Democrats )
We have so many things that are similar, (hands, feet, brain, heart, hopes, desires, blood, skin) but we seem to thrive on the diversity. We are in a universe that is’ trillions’ of years old, yet we cannot see past the next second and we hang on for dear life to the past.
We beat our bibles and stretch out our scroll, we call the ‘Constitution’ and tell everyone else that they MUST believe this way, or else. We are thrown a smidgin of intelligence every now and then and told that “This is the truth”.
We can barely organize our own lives so we can be self sufficient, yet we tell others they are living their lives in error. We become complacent with organized religion and unorganized governments, yet we call ourselves ‘free’. We dream of a Utopian society and at the same time kill those that do not agree. The human species, for some reason, always needs to have an origin and someone to blame for the inadequacies of life. If I don’t have as much money as the Donald, or my face looks more like Quasimoto than Brad Pitts’, I am somehow irrelevant, unintelligent, uneducated and basically a waste of dna.
My skin is light colored so I am better than a person that has different colored skin. From what I have learned from history, all skin peels off of the body the same way when it is exposed to bombs and bullets and fire and weapons of mass destruction. Remember this?....”Yellow, black or white, they are precious in his sight, Jesus loves the little”..... (that will be stuck in your head all day). But, we don’t even feel the least bit of remorse when we see a 3 year old baby in another country that is..(pick your poison)..starving, bombed, bloodied from acts of war, or has its’ skin peeling off from some chemical (man made) insurrection.
We all sit around and put our hands on our hearts and pledge allegiance to the flag and instead of saying ‘God bless the world’, we say ‘God damn the rest of the world... but us’, when we say god bless america. Every country does it. Don’t believe me? Watch the Olympics. Why is it those pesky Swedes are better skiers and shooters than the rest of us ? Hahahah
We, everyone reading this, are composed of the SAME thing. We have a brain that works like a machine (computer). We are conceived (motherboard), we are given a set of basic instructions (hit F2...sorry, I couldn’t resist that one) and then we are programmed (Windows, Mac, Linex) to do a certain thing. The funny thing is, no-one ever takes the time to realize what F2 is. It is the basis of our existence. It is the primordial soup that makes us all the same. It is the software of the universe...and we all have it
If you grow up with the belief that grass is evil then you will probably never have a nice lawn. If you got trampled by a horse when you were a kid, you probably won’t be hanging around the track. It is a simple equation that any software programmer can relate to. If someone types in some kinda code that is going to make me be drawn to eating dirt..guess what ..I’m gonna have a mouth full of earth and flora and I will be looking at the sky saying, “Why don’t I have a lawn as nice as my neighbors”?
Before I go off in a tangent, let me just voice one thought. Forget all your democratic and republican and black and white and rich and poor and smart and stupid and smoker and non smoker and abortion and non abortion and right and wrong and ............blah, blah, blah....issues and let me ask you one question.
What?....makes you feel that you are so right, in your interpretation of life, of right and wrong, that you would discredit, criticize, analize, debunk, debase, kill, violate, defile, rape, debauch, condescend or trample on any other persons rights or beliefs? It is the machine we call the ‘brain’ that makes you think this way. If you are on a ride at an amusement park, you ‘probably’ aren’t turning around trying to shoot the person behind you, but guess what, we are all on this thing called a ‘planet’ that is zooming thru space at a gazillion miles an hour (please don’t try to tell me about intergalactic speeds) and we never realize the person on the ride behind us is experiencing the ride in a different way than we are. Can you not be at peace and be happy that YOU are on the ride.........period?
We can have world peace right now. It is a simple solution. Keep it simple...KISS.
1. Always tell the truth.
2. Do not violate the rights of your fellow man, (If you have to ask, ‘THERE’ is the problem)
3. If you have a belief in God, keep it to yourself.
We are told that there are ‘terrorists’ (GWB..turrurists) coming after us and our ‘democratic lifestyle’. Uuhhhhh, excuse me but.....I thought I lived in a republic. Stupid public school system gave me conflicting info. I pledge allegiance to the flag and then I am taught that we are governed by a democratic process. If I put that software line into a computer, the sucker would blow the hard drive out the cd player from being so confused.

I only disagree when you said maybe it has no direct correlation to the DP. As I read your message, it speaks to the very heart and soul of the philosophy of freedom.
If we don't respect each other and see and value our common humanity,
which is broader and deeper, more fundamental than any of the differences of creed or ethnicity or appearance or lifestyle, etc., then we never will be able to accept each other's rights to life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness.
The essence of freedom is really really simple. Just MYOB (Mind Your Own Business.) Yes, if we can ratchet up enlightment a step further WITHOUT BECOMING INTRUSIVE and also lend a helping hand to a neighbor in need that's even better. But the absolute core principle is the respect that means peace among all the diverse people of the planet.

Good points are made here. What we are "taught" is what we believe to be true (I had too many psychology classes--sorry to those offended). The difference in the message between say a Dr. Paul and a John Lennon is that while they both may pronounce a desire to be left alone by the government, Mr. Lennon fully expected the government to be there when he actually did need it. Dr. Paul makes no such requests. You can't have the government both in and out of your life. If they are in it, they will take every step to control it. You can't say "let me sit here and smoke my pot" but then expect them to pay your rent and provide you with food when you come to.
Some may find your Utopian view of the world 'refreshing'. I see it as naive. Yes, the world is a beautiful place. Yes there are no lines separating the states or countries... glad you mentioned that, I thought there were. Yet, since man first stood erect (or was placed here, fully formed and clothed) he has fought to preserve 'what was his'. This is called human nature... the need to protect and preserve oneself.
The idea that you work for your own benefit is ingrained in people. The mindset that 'hey, this guy over here smoking pot is hungry so lets give him some of the food you planted, cultivated and harvested' is far less popular.
As stated above, the world is a beautiful place. Yet, left out 48 hours unprotected in 'beautiful' nature, most people would probably perish. Nature is a bitch and will kill you quickly is you venture out unprepared. the world is a strangely beautiful place, wrought with danger and unpredictability. So, put down the pipe before your next post. I never thought the marijuana/hemp crowd was a big addition to the RP movement (I'm sure I'll be told otherwise) because they automatically take the very important political message of freedom to a level not intended by the Revolution. It's not all about smoking pot, believe it or not. Yet, that's where the bus stops for too many RP'ers.

I may be missing the point of this thread, but to hint at your opening paragraph, don't plants bear better fruit and grow stronger and hardier when they are set so as to fight the breeze and reality of the world, rather than be subject to no hardship their whole life through?
