*** U.S. now only 2 states away from rewriting Constitution ***

0 votes

A public policy organization has issued an urgent alert stating affirmative votes are needed from only two more states before a Constitutional Convention could be assembled in which "today's corrupt politicians and judges" could formally change the U.S. Constitution's "'problematic' provisions to reflect the philosophical and social mores of our contemporary society."

"Don't for one second doubt that delegates to a Con Con wouldn't revise the First Amendment into a government-controlled privilege, replace the 2nd Amendment with a 'collective' right to self-defense, and abolish the 4th, 5th, and 10th Amendments, and the rest of the Bill of Rights," said the warning from the American Policy Institute.

"Additions could include the non-existent separation of church and state, the 'right' to abortion and euthanasia, and much, much more," the group said.

The warning comes at a time when Barack Obama, who is to be voted the next president by the Electoral College Monday, has expressed his belief the U.S. Constitution needs to be interpreted through the lens of current events.

Tom DeWeese, who runs the center and its education and grassroots work, told WND the possibilities stunned him when he discovered lawmakers in Ohio are considering a call for a Constitutional Convention. He explained that 32 other states already have taken that vote, and only one more would be needed to require Congress to name convention delegates who then would have more power than Congress itself.

IMPORTANT - IMPORTANT - IMPORTANT

If the constitution/amendments are opened up, anything can be changed. I'm a physical therapist, and in our state some things needed to be changed in our practice act in the state laws. The Physical Therapy Association opposed opening up the act, though, because once it was opened EVERYTHING could be changed, not just the 2-3 little things that needed to be changed.

I'll guarantee you that if we have a con con, our country and our rights as we knew them will be gone.

SHIT! You know what this

SHIT! You know what this reminds me of? The Constituent Assembly, just like in countries like Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela. I don't know what to think of this other than: we're damned if we do and we're damned if we don't.

WTF!!!! Isn't this for the State Constitutions????

I (along with everyone I know) was led to believe that the con-con was for the State Constitution. Can someone in the know please clarify. If they attempt to re-write our Constitution, this is the "shot heard around the world" & I believe a call to arms.

It would help a lot

to know which states haven't voted yet and who to contact. Even the main article doesn't give a complete list of states that have already voted and who exactly did the voting without our knowledge.

"It's just one big club... and WE ain't in it!"

Take this real serious folks

Take this real serious folks this is end game if they get another state. If your not an old timer on here you may not remember what a concerted effort was made by the nwo to accomplish this back in oh lets see here...1989. please inform your local meetups and put a link so they can easily contact state officials.

A huge network was built up over time to defeat the con-con the first time. we dont have the time now. but we do have the internet. everyone needs to be contacted. when ohio has been dealt with we can pick a state that has approved a con-con and see if we can get them to withdraw .

What is the difference between a Constitutional Convention of 1787 and one in 2009? TRUSTING THE INTEGRITY of those involved! And to quote Dr. Paul, " Most of the damage to liberty and the Constitution is done by men and women of good will who are convinced they know what is best for the economy, for others, and foreign powers. They inevitably fail to recognize their own arrogance in assuming they know what is the best personal behavior for others. Their failure to recognize the likelihood of mistakes by central planners allows them to ignore the magnitude of a flawed central government directive, compared to an individual or a smaller unit of government mistake."

Why bother

Our politicians just ignore it anyway.

Is this a loophole that can or will be used?

http://www.article5.org/Amendment%20Convention%20Subject%20M... AMENDMENT CONVENTION

SUBJECT MATTER INFORMATION PAGE

"While the Constitution DOES NOT REQUIRE THAT STATES SUBMIT AN AMENDMENT SUBJECT WHEN THEY APPLY FOR AN AMENDMENT CONVENTION,***(my question/concern here is: what would PREVENT a few open-ended applications from being modified to reflect the current 'economic emergency requiring a balanced budget' OR could open-ended general applications be used for whatever means in the 'event of an emergency')*** most of the state applications submitted do relate to specific amendments subjects such as repeal of the federal income tax or balanced budget. The Constitution only requires that two-thirds of the state legislatures apply for a convention in order to compel Congress to call one, that is, a numeric count of states.

However when convention is convened these subject applications will become the basis of the convention's agenda. One of the surprising facts about the applications that is little known is that many of today's "hot" political issues surprisingly already have been put on the agenda for amendment by the amendment convention. This issues include: right to life, definition of marriage and so forth. Thus it is surprising to PTTP when groups arise calling for a convention for a specific subject, such as definition of marriage, not realizing the work has already been done and that all that is required is to force Congress to obey the Constitution so the convention can begin work on these amendments.

Below are several links in .pdf format showing various tables of information regarding the specific amendments that will make up the agenda of a convention. Remember, it is because of the resistance of Congress to obeying the Constitution that so many subjects are on the table. Had Congress obeyed the Constitution and called conventions as the applications compelled them to do so when it compelled them to do so, these amendments would have been disposed of long ago."

They will not rewrite the

They will not rewrite the Constitution, they are going to draw up a new Constitution and replace the old one as the did with our first constitution the "Article of Confederation".
I think the only paper we really need to read is the Declaration of Independence.

They don't follow the constitution now.

What are the chances of them abiding by a new one?

"The problem with trying to child-proof the world, is that it makes people neglect the far more important task of world-proofing the child." -- Hugh Daniel

It'll be re-written with ...

... a battery of signing statements for each law. Obama could'nt resist the temptation to take advantage of this. The people are too dumbed down to understand what's about to happen to our Constitution. Obviously the Constitution is too restrictive for the elites to do their dirty deeds.

MSM Report: http://www.msmreport.com/

This Should Be on the Front Page of the Daily Paul, because

if Constitutional Convention was to happen, this site and other sites would be banned and 1st Amendment will be rewritten. The liberal special interest groups will destroy all our rights granted in the Constitution, in order to create a PC culture and totalitarian socialist governement. The whole movement this site is trying to perpetuate in the vision of Dr Paul will be dead, because they will eliminate the right to voice 'unrespectful
opinions' against the government or what might harm another individuals conscience. America at the present, not the vision we desire, will be like 'paradise' compared to where we will go. They slipped this in, with this engineered economic chaos going on, the International Bank takeover, distracting the congressmen on our side, from seeing and fighting against this action taking place. We must contact Dr Paul, so when he gets his next TV interview, he can make mention of this 'under the radar' event and express the consequences of this taking place. If Ohio passes this, I'm sure they have another state waiting to finish it off.
