It's a Wonderful Life - END THE FED!
Submitted by airiox on Sun, 12/14/2008 - 02:30NBC had it's annual showing of the Christmas classic this evening. I love that show. However, this year I began to watch it with a bit different perspective.
After knowing what the powerful bankers did back during this time to squash the smaller bankers, creating artificial bank runs, calling in loans, etc. Basically creating a depression and putting out of business 10,000 banks leaving just a large few and purposefully robbing Americans of their deposited money. You can't help but watch this show with a little bit different perspective. Seeing Mr. Potter try to take out Bailey's Bank and Loan, trying to cause a run on the bank at a vulnerable time, proposing to back half of town's peoples deposits if they only switch to his bank. But through the goodness of George, he was able to be the lone holdout from Mr. Potters complete take over of the town.
If you haven't seen it since you have found out about the real history of the Great Depression and after Ron Paul cured your apathy, I would highly recommend it.
It is my thoughts the author of this wonderful tale knew exactly what happened during the great depression since he lived through it. I also feel he purposefully intertwined this heartwarming story with undertones of the evils which occurred to cause the great depression to help enlighten those who were willing to see this tale for what it was worth. To try to inspire others than good men can conquer the powerful corrupt men as long as they take a stand. To not let another designed depression happen again. It is not too late to save this country from repeating history.
There certainly is the opportunity to make George Bailey a viral icon in the End the Fed movement. People can relate during this Christmas season to George Bailey. Maybe something to personalize the movement? Perhaps more creative minds than my own can piece something together.

Jimmy Stewart...
Gotta love him too....
It's a Wonderful Life....
Mr. Smith goes to Washington....
He almost always seems to portray the Honest man doing the right thing....
Maybe we can make shirts that say "George Bailey took on the Big Banks, so can we...." and then on the back they can say "It can be a Wonderful Life...End the Fed"
hahahaha
Nice post.
We have the DVD....it's our favorite Christmas movie. We have to pick a special time to sit and watch it though, as Hubbie will still cry at the very end. Never much thought of it as a polical statement...thanks for the twist! Ginny in PA
