Who else hates the Selective Service System?

0 votes

Shortly after registering as a republican to vote for Ron Paul, I got a letter in the mail from the Selective Service System informing me that all US males must register with the Selective Service System upon reaching their 18th birthday. The letter went on to threaten me with 5 years imprisonment or a fine of not more than $250,000 for failure to register.

I really thought that it was propaganda at first, then I thought that I must fit into some loophole, but after reading the entire Military Selective Service Act, I see that there really is no fudge room.

I just wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone else in this community has any experience/advise with the Selective Service System.

Also, its probably worth noting that I fortunately never had to seek financial aid for school, but I do know that if you apply or qualify for financial aid, registration for the Selective Service System is a mandatory part of that paperworrk.

Thanks.

i did it when i turned 18..i didnt know any better though....

It happens a lot

upon reading further I found that if you have moved since you first registered and have not reregistered with the SSS, then you are non-compliant. So dont feel too bad, technically you are sort of in an "unregistered" grey area.
