Ron Paul in TIME Magazine with his nomination for Person of the Year!
Submitted by aVoiceof Reason. on Mon, 12/15/2008 - 14:08
So I opened up a new copy of TIME magazine today, and guess what?
Ron Paul's picture is featured (unfortunately, right below Ann Coulter, blech).
TIME asked Ron Paul whom he would chose for the 2008 nomination of Person of the Year. Here's what he had to say:
Ron Paul, Texas Congressman, and 2008 Republican presidential candidate-
"Amid a horrific financial crisis, all we hear are calls for more of the money-printing, spending, and subsidies that created this mess. So I choose my great teacher, Ludwig von Mises, champion of the Austrian School of economics, who taught us how a central bank like the FED causes booms and busts and how to build prosperity through sound money and economic freedom."
Bravo, Dr. Paul.

another book recommendation
came this morning in "Small Government News" in an article entitled "Stop the Government Insanity!" by Michael Cloud. You can subscribe to SGNews here: http://www.centerforsmallgov.com/csg/t3.php
Here's the recommendation as it appears in the article:
"The cure for most forms of government insanity was discovered in 1946. It’s a short, readable book called ‘Economics in One Lesson’ by Henry Hazlitt.+ ...
...Read the preface, Chapter 1: 'The Lesson', and Chapter 2: 'The Broken Window.' About 8 minutes reading:
http://www.fee.org/library/books/economics.asp
OR:
http://www.fee.org/pdf/books/Economics_in_one_lesson.pdf
Buy a copy of the book. Highlight, underline, and make notes in your copy. It’s pure gold economic sanity.
+ ‘Economics In One Lesson’ by Henry Hazlitt explodes and refutes these fallacies – and most of the economic insanities Congress is trying to sell us."
PS I'm listening to NPR as I write this - it sounds like "Helicopter Ben" might be getting ready to live up to his nickname...quick, run outside and catch those notes before they become worthless. Well, not totally worthless. They'll look really sharp wallpapering a room...giving it a nice, historical flavor.
Stop reading and buying trash...
Disconnect your TV it's worthless garbage you're watching anyway plus you'll save money every month by not having it. As for MSM rags like TIME magazine, don't give them another dime.
The only subscriptions worth having are:
The American Free Press
The New American
Republic Magazine
don't worry, I didn't buy
don't worry, I didn't buy this copy of TIME magazine, nor do I subscribe to it.... there are free copies of it at work occasionally, which I sometimes read when I'm bored with nothing else to do.
and I don't own a t.v.
I agree it's garbage, but it's good to keep your enemies close.
Never shut out any information, just understand where it's coming from and what it really means.

I like my TV. I'm keeping it.
You might want to disconnect from the internet too. Lots of garbage on the World Wide Webs -- just ask Al Gore. He invented it.

Time Magazine is a tool
Time posted a YouTube video soliciting public opinion on who they would select as Person of the Year. The response was overwhelmingly for Ron Paul and their reaction was to leave out Paul altogether on their online poll.
Now they toss a bone to the RP crowd (which they see is sizable) with a few lines by the good doctor, and people just gratefully open their wallets and lap it up.
Those who subscribe or continue to buy these establishment rags are contributing to their propaganda effort.

Have they asked any other politician
the same question and put the response in their magazin?
I doubt it .. and wasn't even considered.
The overwhelming calls for Ron Paul to be the person of the year in their youtube call has made them aware that he can't be overlooked but more importantly,
Time magazine is trying to tap into a possible HUGE increase in subscriptions and winning the hearts of Ron Paul people. We must have really impressed them, bowled them over on Youtube.
They are so transparent, it makes ya puke. No 'Time Magazine' for me, not ever.
If Time magazine had a spine of its own, they would speak out and stop bowing for the masters who are eventually going to give them the same treatment as every other 'useless idiot' in their ranks.
yes, with each new issue
yes, with each new issue they feature the nominations from "prominent individuals, including former TIME 100 honorees"
No
I get the impression that so many of us wrote to nominate Dr. Paul that TIME felt they needed to recognize him and us. What magazine wouldn't want to curry favor with educated, plugged-in readers like those of us here?
I do suspect they fear being mocked by others if they endorse him - it's hard to step up for the underdog, especially when the overdogs have the apparent power to get back at one-- that, alone, makes actual "orders from above" unnecessary.

Yes, I think thats exactly part of the game.
And it drives me nuts.
I work for a national media company.
I don't hide my support of Paul, but don't contribute to any content, that's not my job.
But there are quite a few closet RP supporters, They'll be staying in the closet too. Many of those are writers, and could influence public opinion, if they had the guts.
Job security, is the main reason now. Media is laying off right and left.
I have little talks with them every now and then, and think a few more are coming around. Still gutless though.

A big part of WHY media is laying off right and left ...
Job security, is the main reason [writers are avoiding stories positive about Ron Paul] now. Media is laying off right and left.
A big part of WHY media is laying off right and left is that they have been distorting the news and have been caught at it. This is causing their viewership to switch to the Internet for news. They did it to themselves.
Ignoring and/or suppressing Ron Paul is one of the particularly visible things they have done. It has alienated precisely the large and moneyed youth demographic that they are trying to attract, to improve their financial future.
Treating Ron fairly would be a very good move for their bottom line and financial future. And for their job security (if their management will allow it rather than firing them out of hand.)
Unfortunately, playing fairly in general eliminates their political power - which comes from systematically distorting news. So they're stuck with a choice: Money to keep running, or power as long as they keep running.
(Fortunately, the latter finishes them off if the continue to chose it. Now that there is an open alternative medium it's a self-limiting problem. B-) )

of course not...

As things get worse and
As things get worse and worse and more people lose their jobs, our logical message will make its way mainstream.
For example, about 8 months ago my friends thought I was crazy for saying that we're going to experience an economic collapse... Now, they agree...
I still find it amazing how people don't understand how every action has a reaction... All of our problems are a result of poor actions that could've been averted... If only we understood cause and effect, we wouldn't have these problems.
