NEED HELP! Is this normal?

Here is some general information for all. Over the past few month's I have been trying to stock up on some food and while I have made some progress I still have a ways to go before I will feel comfortable. Anyways, I recently puchased some MRE's from the www.thereadystore.com and recieved a notice a couple of days ago that the items were on back order. I thought NO BIG DEAL. Then just tonight (12/16/08) I received a call from the ready store asking me if they could substitute my order for some other items because the supplier that provided them with the MRE's had been siezed by the US Government and that all MRE's production from that facility for the next six months were going to the government. Now I haven't ever stocked up before and back when I started buying some food a few moth's ago I ran into this same problem. At that time none of the sellers had MRE's because FEMA had taken over most of the suppliers due to the Hurricans in the gulf. That sounded like a resonable excuse as to why the MRE suppliers were not shipping to wholesalers. But, right now I can't think of any natural disater that is soon to be forecasted or that has happen that the government is moving back in and taking all of the food. Does anybody have any insight into this? Does this happen on a normal basis? I am changing my plans a little and money I was holding onto until after the first of the year is now going into buying food before all of the suppliers are out again.
