Look Just Legalize It All

Let the free market decide. Be it Coke, Heroin or Slurpees. For industrial, medical or recreational purposes. Let it be. Oh, let it be.

Don't forget this gem

For newer DP folks, here's an oldie-but-goodie link to check out if you haven't seen it before: Hemp For Victory - a 1942 film made by the (hello!) U.S. Department of Agriculture, encouraging hemp farming and joyfully extolling hemp's many uses.

I think the key point of the hemp debate

is under emphasized here. The pot using folks and their leaders were coopted by the people in power long ago. They really were, this explains why hemp was not legalized long ago. I was reading NORML literature in the early 70's. I guess they get credit for the partial legalization achieved in some states. Still a million guys in the jug though.

All of the arguments skirt the real reason why hemp was made illegal. It really has nothing to do with the use of pot as a relaxant or whatever, it has to with the oil business and control.

It is always all about power and then money.

The power decides what the path will be and then takes the necessary steps to get us going on that path.

I'm sorry but it is not about Nixon and Reagan. The people in power PUT Nixon and Reagan in office...making these two presidents responsible for anything is naive. The drug war that was designed by the people in power had a purpose. It is a tremendous money maker. the people who make the money are not the two dollar loser dope dealers...good God, it is the people in power. Yes pot makes some money but, the drug war is about keeping the flow of hard narcotics money in the hands of the people in power.

10 kilos of pot is too big and too cheap to interest the folks in charge. 10 kilos of pure opium is a fabulously convenient portable (far more dense than reefer) and convertible concentration of currency. It can be sold instantly for about $500,000 and then "cut" 3 or 4 times....pot can't be cut and is too easy to grow.....but...hemp is very valuable in the grand scheme of things and this is why.....at the turn of the century the people in power knew that something was about to happen...it was going to be BIG.

Henry Ford had designed his engine to run on ethanol...pay attention now..gasoline had NOT been invented yet. The folks in power were concerned with the following problem and this is why hemp was made illegal....

Ford's brilliant design included how it would be fueled....duh.

The car that you drive today was designed to run on ethanol. Hemp was the fully stable, non polluting, organic renewable resource that Ford designed the GD car to run on.

farmers would grow the hemp, distill the ethanol and have plenty of surplus to sell to car owners.

No...no...no! Not so fast! Farmers would have far too much power through this exponentially growing cash crop.

Mr. Rockefeller and the men in power took care of hemp and alcohol in rapid fire order, now didn't they?

The demonization of pot users came later to assure that it became part of the criminal culture providing millions of inmates etc. (I love how the video pronounces that "yellow journalism" existed in the old days...what?! The media has been fully controlled for over a century...how the hell do you think they got hemp and alcohol bans pushed through the congress? What? politicians used to be work for the people?)

By the way you can smoke anything less than an ounce in a number of states at the threat of a $25 to $50 dollar parking ticket. I'm sure Mr. Chong has all the $150 a gram reefer he wants.

If pot money is in the hands of the people in power...then Chong is on their payroll. His movies have done more to glorify smoking reefer than anything else. Kind of the like the Marlboro man except he keeps falling of the horse.

Unify

It has to do with both Medicine and Power / Energy..

Hemp was in 30-% of all medicines....

All medicines were petrochemicals / chemically made after that...

IT is a synergy of things not just one. Food, Fuel, Fiber, Medicine, Oil...
Energy..

Cannabis Sativa....

One minor point of

One minor point of contention gasoline was invented at the time Ford designed his ICE it just was not the prevailing fuel it is now days and Rockefeller wanted to change that and was instrumental in getting prohibition passed to do just that.

My new goal

Is to lobby for this and spread the word to as many people as I know. This plant can solve so many of our problems in America today regarding healthy food, fighting infection, obesity, diabetes, paper production, energy consumption etc. etc. etc!!!. WE ARE BEING DENIED THE LIFE-SAVING BENEFITS OF THIS HEALING PLANT BY GREEDY PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES, THE DEPT OF AGRICULTURE, THE DEPT OF ENERGY, AND OUR SO CALLED ELECTED CONGRESSPEOPLE!!!

This should be on the agenda for all of us! Because of all the across the life benefits this plant has to offer, we should not let this one die!

Why does the OP say "not sure how long it'll last" ?

Did anyone else get disoriented when the video skipped at around 7:00 min? Haha, I wonder if they did that to 'freak out' their viewers?! LOL

I the kind of guy that keeps marijuana . . .

. . in the cupboard all the time, whether I'm currently enjoying it or not.
"Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food" -Socrates

As I watched this fine video, a vision swept across my hopeful mind, that hemp crops were growing everywhere across america, rapidly encroaching on the current poison soils of the industrial farms, and cleansing the soil to be used again for food production.
Locally grown hemp . . . accessable to communities as sort of a welfare tool. . . allowing people to get back with nature, and also create cottage industries resulting in "units of income" credit.

And include medical marijuana dispensary, so we can gauge the use amoungst the people. You know, it's not everybodies cup of tea, but it would be great to do manual labor in the fields and be stoned. I know one house wife that loves to take a few puffs, and vacumm the house.

Maybe a national program to grow hemp would be the way to take some of our nation back. People from all walks of life, of all ages, young and old, could work for credits, either in the fields, or in a cottage industry, with a special division to build a hemp car, just for fun.
And medical marijuana users would be allowed to work in the fields or in cottage industry where low tech manual methods are used.
Also the ecouragement of mentorship and educational facilities that expand consciousness and sustainable permaculture society.

All in all, this movement could push back the onslaught of intensive and environmentally exhausting industrial farming . . . . and demonstrate to them, that this cultural fulfillment is good. (better than militarized, canned food camps).

Hmm . . . I just remembered something . . . on one of my voyages thru Micronesia, we sailed into the southernmost Island of Palau.
Marijuana was legal, and you could purchase pre-rolled joints for a dollar at any liquor store. I was pleasantly surprised and reached into the large open mouthed, glass jar on the counter and took one out. I promptly walked over to a rock with a view, and lit up. Fantastic feeling of freedom.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

I like your vision. It would boost the

popularity of victory gardens, be good for the environment in multiple ways, good for the economy, local business, reduce medical care costs. Not to mention eliminating drug enforcement costs, prison, trials, lost worker productivity, families torn apart.

" Bring it ! "

How about having these lands "donated" somehow. It would be a fabulous way to re-educate city folk about nature.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

Cannabis Fights Antibiotic Resistant MRSA..

Hemp is Cannabis... There is no distinction, it is like Gala or Granny Smith Apples... They are Apples..

The Scientific American...

http://www.sciam.com/blog/60-second-science/post.cfm?id=whoa...

A new study says that marijuana appears to fight infections. According to research published in the Journal of Natural Products, the five most common cannabinoid compounds in weed—tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol, cannabigerol, cannabinol and cannabichromene—can kill antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Think MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), which claimed more lives than AIDS in 2007 or, more recently, extensively drug-resistant mycobacterium tuberculosis (XDR-TB.)

Researchers were unable to pinpoint exactly how the ingredients interact with bacterial targets. They called for rigorous clinical trials to determine the safety and effectiveness of cannabinoids as topical antiseptics and as antibacterial agents. Researchers stressed that the marijuana's bacteria-fighting cannabinoids all have zero psychoactive effect. (Sorry to disappoint.)

(WHY IS THAT IMPORTANT, AND WHY IS FEELING GOOD SUCH A SIN?)

Interesting you should mention apples

I'm strongly thinking about calling myself "John E Hempseed" to travel the land distributing industrial hempseeds and information about their value - and planting them along the way. Of course, such a name would be more of a title than a name, since ideally others would follow suit. Think about how empowering that would be for people facing economic hard times! And it's perfectly legal...

To my knowledge, it is legal to possess hempseeds, as they contain negligible amounts of THC and they are highly nutricious. I've ordered the psychogenic variety by mail from Canada in past. However and most curiously, I find it almost impossible to locate a supplier of industrial hempseeds (nonsterilized, nonhulled, yielding nonpsychogenic plants). I found one supplier in England and they told me they don't ship them to US. Why is it so hard to get industrial hempseeds here and so easy to get the mind altering variety? Can anyone name a source of industrial hempseeds that will sell and ship to folks in US? John E Hempseed needs you!

For your listening pleasure, here's a Merry Christmas High from Rastaman Santa, I and I...

I know a guy who does that...

He throws cannabis seeds all over the place way out in the sticks going down rivers...

And never goes back...

There are probably thousands of cannabis plants along the #$# river from him alone.

AWESOME video!

thanks for sharing.

U.S. Department of Health Patent Cannabis.
Links and documentation for the below at the blog address at the end.

Even though the Federal Government holds a patent on Cannabis for a variety of neurological diseases. (Alzheimer, Stroke, Trauma, Parkinson, Epilepsy...) And, the Federal Government has known since 1974 that marijuana plays a major role in cancer prevention and even stops invasive breast cancer, they have systemetically tried to suppress and even destroy all evidence and studies to the contrary, something the 2006 Madrid studiesexemplifies. Jack Herer's "Emperor Wears No Clothes" documents this.

1974 University of California Studies.

The government then grants money to study marijuana and prove conclusively that it is bad for you. Unfortunately they didn't get the results they wanted, again! Here & Here

Reported nationally in an Aug. 18, 1974, Washington Post newspaper feature, the report read in part "The active chemical agent in marijuanacurbs the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice and may also suppress the immunity reaction that causes rejection of organ transplants", a Medical College of Virginia team has discovered."slowed the growth of lung cancers, breast cancers and a virus-induced leukemia in laboratory mice..

The full study was reported in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Vol. 55, No. 3, September 1975.

Destruction of Studies / Historical Documents and Truth.

1976 Ford Administration Bans independent and and federally sponsored research on the use of natural cannabis derivative for medicine.

Allow this to sink in for a moment. This is a irrational hatred of a plant to the degree that the cure for Cancer is supressed and all research banned ! Really weigh this against the false projections of morality, your conceptions of humanity and decency. Although I have great respect for Ronald Reagan, I am sad to report that he to participated in book burning and supression of truth. The Reagan / Bush Administration tried to persuade American Universities and researchers to destroy all 1966-1976 cannabis research work, including compendiums in libraries. Many have disapeared.

The 1942 documentary film Hemp For Victory was almost lost to history because of this zeloutry. All references of it had already been removed from the library of congress but a persistent Jack Herer found the original film diggin through the stacks.

Destruction of Knowledge and History is dispicable and the tool of zelouts and tyrants.

No rational, objective person can condone or be silent about it.

Natural Herbalist ("Mideaval Witches") have long known about the "magical" properties of Cannabis for healing. This irrational hatred is misogynistic in many ways. And clearly is not based on rational objective analysis but rather the supression of truth and dissemination of falsities.

Accidental Medical Studies and the Drug War Escalates.

1989: A government-funded study on the brain at the St. Louis Medical University determines that the human brain has receptor sites for THC to which no other known compounds will bind. It is almost as if the cannabis plant has some purpose that sets it apart from all others on the earth.

It has a unique relationship to a multitude of physical systemic reactions induced by the activation of the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the brain resulting in the wide variety of therepudic benefits on a wide variety of biological systems.

(Why is the MOST Abundant Receptor in the Brain and Human Body the Cannabiod Receptors that can only be activated by Cannabis.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabinoid_receptor)

Despite all the evidence to the contrary in 1989 , Drug Enforcement Agency Director John Lawn orders that cannabis remain on the Schedule One narcotics list, reserved for drugs which have no known medical use.

Throught the 90's the drug war escalates and in 1990 alone 330,000 Americans were arrested on marijuana charges. September 5, 1990: Los Angeles Police Chief Darryl Gates testifies before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee that casual drug users should be taken out and shot.

At the bottom of this blog is a long list of medical studies on everything from, cancer, diabetes, alzheimers, epilepsy, nueropathy..
And the links to the supporting documents for the claims made.

Thankyou Akadian :)

As we write, the propaganda spews forward from cop shows, and the new "homeland security" commercial shows them busting a door down wherein a "bong" was on the table, althought the "raid" was for another reason.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”
