Update: Shipping futures rise modestly.
Asian Stocks Rise as Shippers Advance on Fees; Contractors Drop

Jan. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks rose, led by shipping and mining companies after cargo rates and metals prices advanced, outweighing drops by contractors on earnings concerns
The Baltic Dry Index, a measure of shipping costs for commodities, gained 3.7 percent amid rising demand for iron ore. On Jan. 23, nickel futures jumped 10 percent, copper surged 5.4 percent and gold futures added 6.7 percent.

Just to be devilish,
The BCI is said to be surging. That would be the Baltic Capesize Index, which refers to the very largest ships that typically carry coal and iron ore. It is thought to be due to a Chinese ramp-up in steel production.

Mostly "War". Halliburton, GE, Lockheed, ATK. This one's easy. The government will just save some money on the front end and stop exporting "it". They will keep it here and use it on us!

They are not shipping...no demand=lower prices
Without the middleman carry credit from producer to importer, goods are not moving. Cash is unavailable to pay shipping firms up front and ships are reluctant to risk default of receivables. Thus, they are offering themselves at cost to whomever can pay...UP FRONT.
Obviously, there ain't many who can do this...

the bdi s a london based assessment of the price of moving major raw materials by sea via the 26 shipping lanes.
economists follow this index every day.
the index measures the demand for shipping capacity vs. the supply of dry bulk carriers.
it's a direct indicator of the health of the world wide shipping and supply activity as well as the general health of the global economy.
this index has slipped 93% recently, in december, and it means that the world wide demand for cargo ships and more importantly raw materials - everyday items - has come to a near standstill.
this is major news and it's not being talked about.
it shows the economic global slump and more economic woes ahead.
everything that's getting shipped is coming to a standstill.
