are really out of hand. it's becoming commonplace here.
and please if you object to my objection using the free speech defense it's NOT what i'm talking about.
i'm talking about common courtesy and decency AND respect for the others who are reading the thread.
it's easy to do online. you don't have to account for it.
would you do it in person if others asked you to tone it down?
i find it troubling and sad.

I too see alot of anger and foul language on here but some of it is just sheer frustration mostly due to the trolls that come here and promote the media crap that we know is false and it gets frustrating to us. for me it's usually 911 arguments so I tend to stay out of them since I know I'm being baited by the official story believers ( who could be that dumb )

Is this what we have come to? I swear quite naturally, it's who I am, a sailor all my life. Actually I find certain swearing rants to be almost therapeutic and God knows that sometimes a good old four letter word has a way of expressing some things where no other word or phrase possibly could.

Disgusting and sad are the writings of people who cannot string together a single sentence without serious misspellings and/or grammar gaffes.
Disgusting and sad are those individuals who would use the shields of COMMON COURTESY and DECENCY to further their argument against free speech which they personally do not like.
The FOUL ATTITUDE of some people who post online is what I find disgusting and sad- regardless of their language and/or spelling & grammar.

There is nothing
about speech that puts its use outside of the confines of good manners. No behavior is exempt from courtesy and manners. What we're talking about here is not about the 1st Amendment, government censorship, or lists. It has to do with behaving in a civilized manner in public.
Adults are expected to know how to behave appropriately in the different areas of life. Just because some people are stuck in childhood and haven't learned that basic adult skill doesn't meant that the necessity for it doesn't exist, or that they don't need to learn it. Two year-olds automatically assume that whatever they do is right, and they desperately hate to corrected, to have their selfishness curbed, and to be taught how to behave in society. It's really embarrassing when a 22 or 32 year-old insists on acting like a toddler. It's gets really ugly when one of these untutored 22 or 32 year-olds has to be corrected.

i went back to my original post and change the word from 'disgusting' to 'troubling'. the reason i used that word was because of one particular post which i came across while reading comments on a thread.
it was disgusting. it was porn. it has since been deleted.
i wish you could understand what i'm saying. it's not about free speech it's about common courtesy and decency. why do you have a problem with that? why do you think it is a shield?

i get what you mean loud and clear. but there are some here that have never had the thought in their brains what is decent and wise. some here think that the "smarter" you are the more foul language they need to use. it is apart of their "intellectual" discussion.
it is a sad day in this country , i used to go to work and i'd have to ask men and women to watch their language in the store. when i was a kid you never heard a man swear in front of women or children (or other men for that matter) you never heard them swear unless they hit themselves on the thumb with a hammer, and even then looked sheepish about it. and you never heard women curse either, and children got their mouths washed out with soap if they did it.
but now "DECENCY" is mocked , ridiculed and thought of as childish and immature. but when their children rise up and curse them someday or their grandparents...they will somehow be shocked how that happened. hopefully it will dawn on them then what they have done by perverting the next generation just a little bit more. and the generation after that...a bit more...until there is no more decency or self control. when i go to the store today with my kids or grand kids how is it that the guy cussing out the clerk did not care at all that my kids or grand kids heard every word he said as he screamed at the clerk like a raging lunatic. then people will watch the news and ask themselves... how can a mother kill her children? or how can a 6 year old boy kill the neighbor boy?
think about it, all of you. think how society slowly digresses into anarchy if their are no social rules of decency for your neighbors sake. if you have never thought about that....then maybe it's time to start actually thinking.

i agree wholeheartedly with what you say. it's sad to watch the degeneration of a society and that's what we are seeing in a lot places today. we're a far cry from the waltons.
this thread has posted alot of response and i am glad. it seems that there are more people who come here who support a clean up than do
not.
and once again (as the doc says alot) this site has his name on it. it ought to be respected. he ought to be able to come here and read and enjoy it.

but i'll ask, were ma, pa, grandma, and grampa Walton just naive and innocent? or was it more about character and expectations of right and wrong
it's about respect and treating others as you would want to be treated.
the day that i go to a restaurant and a waitress comes up to me and says, "what the h_ _ _ do you want...", i will get her fired and never return to the restaurant.
if one of these kids that like to cuss and swear here, came into my business and talk like that i would physically drag them out of my store and tell them to never come back...and if they did the police would be called for trespassing and charges pressed.
you can say what you want people but be prepared for the consequences.

Does it really matter?
Who cares how people express themselves. They have a right to however works for them. Who is anyone to dictate how someone else communicates? It's just vowels and syllables. All this control. Disapproval. I am not offended by words, cussing, swearing, foul language. Does it make a person better than someone else if they don't talk that way? Or if they don't have to stoop to resort to talking THAT way because some persons (people's) vocabulary is lacking. Oh sh!t my grammar. Sometimes that's the only way to get a point across. To vent. Big deal. Pointing out other people's typos, misspellings, grammar. Hall monitor stuff. Anal. Oh man, those people sound like a lot of fun. If certain words offend then go live in a cave. Don't talk to anyone. Surely stay off the internet, don't go to blog's and forums. Tell other people how they can talk, walk, act ... oh please. Live and let live.

disagree. nothing wrong with asking for decent standards on a public forum so everyone can listen including new visitors. I am not asking for censorship that is different. I think most Paulites are intelligent enough to express themselves without using a cuss word to get their point across.
Decent standards
I agree people should use discretion, control themselves as far as using language others may deem offensive, it's a matter of manners, but it still is not anyone's business to dictate how other people choose to express themselves. Okay you and others have voiced their opinions but if someone chooses to use words you find offensive sorry about that but you don't have the right to tell other people what is acceptable. What is acceptable to one is not to another. That's life it's what makes the world go round. I am and neither is anyone to squash someone elses personality, everyone has a right to be who they are. Live and let live.
