Speaking of Ponzi Schemes and Frauds....

Let me ask this simple question, doesn't it feel like this Bernie Madoff debacle is so typical of modern United States of America? Isn't it so fitting of what we have become as a nation?

I mean think about it, global warming, fiat currency, financial markets, oil, "health" care, pharmaceuticals, AIDS, cancer, democracy, terrorism, spying, "hedge" funds, aspartame, marriage/divorce, drug wars, Hollywood, news, processed foods, chemicals, GMO, middle class, suburban life, manicured lawns, insurance, sports, checks and balances, land of the free, home of the brave... IT'S ALL A FRAUD!!!!!!

Our country is a house of cards... even the foundation is rotten to the core!

What kills me is it's our fault! Not necessarily DPer's faults, but every single American citizen's fault. We are accessories to all of the above crimes.

If you think deeply about this, you'll lose sleep at night like I do....

Is our country worth saving anymore? Or should we just kick back, watch it die, and pick up the broker pieces after???

This is what I think about daily....

Ahhh...the Caribbean..........

I've got my lap top out while soaking up some rays on the beach. I think how cold it is up in Ohio whence I once came. My old mother tells me it's really cold with snow and ice. I remember it well as I absolutely hated the old buildings the crumbling roads, the crime, joblessness, poverty, lying politicians, Nixon, Carter, Ford, Bush and Obama. Yeah, I've been an expat for 30 years and sure we have our problems with our local government liars but, at least we can go to the beach everyday and vote the bastards out of office (and do) every four years. With that said..I worry for my family, friends and DPers who have stayed behind. But, no one is really doing anything to change the corrupt U.S. politics with the exception of DPers and the good Doctor. When I see the American people rise up and drag those liars and traitors out of Congress and try them for treason along with Bernake and company, I'll come back and help you fight the rest. Promise.

How do expats help out the United States?

I often wonder what do expats do to help out the United States overseas? I know alot of people on the DP, including the OP, are expats or foreigners and I'm curious what they can do to help in our United States?

http://killfiat.blogspot.com/

If the you-know-what hits the fan, they can't do anything

Ex-Pat is short for Ex-Patriot or former patriot. No offense to any ex-pats here, but realistically, you did decide to give up and save your own butts.

Wow, where do I start? Here

Wow, where do I start?

Here goes:

1. Living outside the US has woken me up. I can realistically say that if I was still living in the US, I would definitely still be asleep. As a matter of fact, I'll bet that I was awake sooner than 90% of the people on this site. Moreover, I was out there mouthing off--via email, forums, personally--way before it was popular to do so--thank you ex-pat life!!!

2. I wake people up, albeit foreigners, on a consistent basis. I can't count how many people say to me on a daily basis, "Oh, you're an American? Obama!" I always reply, "Yeah, it's terrible!" Then they think I'm a Bush fan and then I take them to school. By the time they leave me they're probably thinking, "I've never heard an American say those things." or "I need to research some of things he's saying." (Remember, America is a huge war machine. America is the world's problem not just it's citizens.)

3. If and when the dollar collapses, you guys are going to need my hard earned Yen! I have already proved myself with regards to sending it back to the US for this cause and I am more then willing to send it back to some of you guys to be used in a constructive matter to keep this movement alive and to stop these treacherous bastards!

4. I'm 38, train 4 days a week, and I love a good rumble! If violence and man power is what we need then I'm more than willing to fly back and help. I'm also a peace loving guy too, so, whatever it takes I can adapt.

5. Finally, in times of conflict, war, economic crises foreigners and ex-patriots from every country have proved to be vital for movements and counter insurgencies. We are your lifeline. We can provide a variety of necessities that would be essential to any "guerrilla." The American Revelation was not only fought and won by farmers with guns, it relied heavily on allies and ex-patriots.

I could go on but I got to run out the door--I'm late!

"I've never heard an American say those things."

Agreed.

Many Australians automatically assume that I voted for Obama. As far back as a year ago, I began introducing people to Ron Paul in the hope that it would spark further investigation by them of libertarian principles and Austrian economics.

We are the face of America overseas. I am very well aware of it and try to be an ambassador for my country. For 90% of the Australians I meet, I'm the first American they've ever met face-to-face.

What a stupid statement Mike.

The Swiss, Swedish, French, and Norwegians would beg to differ. Many Jews, Germans, and French fled to safety with the help of foreigners and expats. They were also able to get critical information, money, weapons, and supplies to those trapped.

I cannot speak for all expats but, for myself, I did NOT leave to "save my butt" and it isn't any of your business why six to ten million of us are abroad. 75% of expats return home within two years. You don't know what you are talking about and your comment serves nothing more than to divide the group. According to the post last night, that seems to be the reason you are here. I didn't want to believe it, at first, but now???

Who says most of these people won't return to fight? A person never stops being an American and you're an idiot for implying such an idea. Both Jefferson and Franklin spent years overseas as expats.

I spent two months in the US as a precinct leader during the primaries. I'm not sure how that is "giving up". How many of your neighbors did the same?

BTW, an expatriate is, and always has been, a term to refer to someone living outside the borders of a territory either permanently or temporarily. It in no way refers to one's loyalty or willingness to sacrifice for one's homeland. Only a nationalist or a neo-con would would describe the word in the way you inferred.

Unless people have boats

I'm not too sure Swiss, Swedish, French or Norwegian goodwill is going to help out much. I was just trying to be realistic. Here's a scenario like what I was thinking:
A nuclear device is detonated somewhere in the US, all travel is restricted and nobody gets in or out. At that point, the people offshore are, as they know in the back of their heads they would be, safe. But they cannot do anything to help people on the ground in America. Perhaps I needed to be clear about my definition of the-you-know-what hitting the fan.

How do non-expats help out the United States?

very well said. I continue

very well said. I continue to fight, while the ship goes down, so when my kids ask what happened I can tell them, and when they say, what did you do about it, I can answer, with no regrets.

I am very involved in politics, particularly judicial reform, people will call me and ask to do things for the cause and want money, I always say will you do it as a civil duty for your country? The greed is rampant, we need to get back to defending our fellow country man and defending peoples rights as a whole, since our freedom is connected as a body.

Great post, you struck a cord I think about a lot as well.

thanks

I ask myself the same questions every day

And I really don't know the answer. My sense is that this country will have to "die" first before the average "citizen" stirs at all. I've been bored and frustrated by my fellow "average" Americans for years now. Thought I was the odd one for thinking as I did about individual liberty, morality, the fraud I spotted all around me, etc. Don't get me wrong...People are basically "nice", I guess, but so amazingly lazy and uninteresting and fundamentally un-American in their viewpoint--and they don't even know it!

I have no answers for you, bigsurjune, but I feel your pain.

Never ceases to amaze me

Nice list but you left out CHEMTRAILS. I guess everyone here is ok with being sprayed 24/7. Should come as no surprise because when myself and many others from RP's district contacted him about this in your face attack on humanity and every other living thing on this planet we received zero response.

Is this how we'll pay off the bailouts?

Zimbabwe can't paper over its money woes

PRICELESS: The new Z$100-million note issued this month will, like its predecessors, soon lose any worth it has.
As inflation soars, the state keeps issuing bigger notes -- Z$10 quintillion, anyone? -- but even then, with bizarre exchange rules, it's hard to figure out what, if anything, they're actually worth.

By Robyn Dixon

Reporting from Harare, Zimbabwe -- It's confusing.

The pale blue bank note that says 1,000,000 Zimbabwean dollars really means 10,000,000,000,000,000,000. Yes, that's 10 quintillion, taking into account the 13 zeros Zimbabwe's central bank has lopped off in the last couple of years to make the country's currency somewhat more manageable...

Are we better than animals?

In the animal kingdom only the strong survive. It may sound horrible but they adapt to their surroundings, the population controls itself, the young learn from their parents, And killing (other than for food) is only done in defense. Actually, calling people sheep is demoralizing to sheep. Humans are suppose to be civilized, with a conscience and have high morals. Want to bet we don't last as long as animals? Someone once said to me stupid people are breeding at an alarming rate, and will destroy our society. While intelligent people are diminishing because they wait for the right time and circumstances. I get the gist of what he was saying, and this is why we need to educate as many sheep... Oops, I mean people as possible.

Don't get me wrong, I'm

Don't get me wrong, I'm beyond anger. It's more shock and frustration than anything else.

The USA is officially a banana republic. Soon I'm going to be sending my Yen home to take care of my entire family and their extended families. I'll have distant cousins coming out to stay with me that I've never met before, sleeping in my living room.

The good thing, I'll come back and buy the biggest house on the block. I'll put up a concrete wall around the house with broken bottles at the the top to prevent burglars from breaking in. I'll also be able to hire an armed gunmen for next to nothing.

I'll also be able to look forward to coups every other month and mass protests. It's will be interesting to watch.

Actually, the more I think about it, it might not be half bad... I mean, I like to visit Brazil, Bali, and Thailand....

On second thought... I'm depressed now....

Well, if it makes you feel any better ...

21 Economic Models using Cows

SOCIALISM
You have 2 cows.
You give one to your neighbour.

COMMUNISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both and gives you some milk.

FASCISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both and sells you some milk.

NAZISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both and shoots you.

BUREAUCRATISM
You have 2 cows.
The State takes both, shoots one, milks the other, and then throws the milk
away...

TRADITIONAL CAPITALISM
You have two cows.
You sell one and buy a bull.
Your herd multiplies, and the economy grows.
You sell them and retire on the income.

SURREALISM
You have two giraffes.
The government requires you to take harmonica lessons.

AN AMERICAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows.
Later, you hire a consultant to analyse why the cow has dropped dead.

ENRON VENTURE CAPITALISM
You have two cows.
You sell three of them to your publicly listed company, using letters of
credit opened by your brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity
swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back,
with a tax exemption for five cows. The milk rights of the six cows are
transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island Company secretly owned by
the majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your
listed company. The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an
option on one more. You sell one cow to buy a new president of the United
States , leaving you with nine cows. No balance sheet provided with the release.
The public then buys your bull.

A FRENCH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You go on strike, organise a riot, and block the roads, because you want
three cows.

A JAPANESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and
produce twenty times the milk. You then create a clever cow cartoon image
called 'Cowkimon' and market it worldwide.

A GERMAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You re-engineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month, and milk
themselves.

AN ITALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows, but you don't know where they are.
You decide to have lunch.

A RUSSIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You count them and learn you have five cows.
You count them again and learn you have 42 cows.
You count them again and learn you have 2 cows.
You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka.

A SWISS CORPORATION
You have 5000 cows. None of them belong to you.
You charge the owners for storing them.

A CHINESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You have 300 people milking them.
You claim that you have full employment, and high bovine productivity.
You arrest the newsman who reported the real situation.

AN INDIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You worship them.

A BRITISH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
Both are mad.

AN IRAQI CORPORATION
Everyone thinks you have lots of cows.
You tell them that you have none.
No-one believes you, so they bomb you and invade your
country.
You still have no cows, but at least now you are part of a Democracy...

AN AUSTRALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
Business seems pretty good.
You close the office and go for a few beers to celebrate.

A NEW ZEALAND CORPORATION
You have two cows.
The one on the left looks very attractive.

Like we did not learn anything from the totalitarian past.

Heads up, Americans!
At least you have a constitution worth fighting for!
That`s a damn good starting position for a Revolution. Better than we Germans with a provisory basic-law and the communist EU-stuff.
We`ll have to fight to change it, you just have to demand it to be taken seriously.

Our Enemy The State

This book written by Albert Nock describes the State in current terms. Mr. Nock wrote this book in the 30's, he writes about Hitler, Mussolini and more importantly FDR. Summed up quite well in this quote:

"....a lot of us want something-for-nothing, or at least something-for-less, and so we create the State in our own image. Only a moral transformation will change that image, and nothing short of this will topple the State."

Is a moral transformation possible?

It would take some earth shattering experiences. The way things are going we might live to see some change, best to be prepared for them.

There is tow sides to everything.....including complete despair

I'll stick with hope.....thanks.

Unify

I don't think despair characterizes these sentiments

REALITY is REALITY. As the saying goes, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Recognizing that you're dealing with a sow's ear is not despair. It's the very essence of being able to correctly size up the problem. Then, and only then, can we hope to fix the problem.
