Question about natural gas prices for home heating.

0 votes

I live in Northwest Indiana. I have heard we have one of the highest rates for natural gas home heating prices in the country through NIPSCO(our utility supplier here).
Price per therm is $0.8801
Price per therm intererstate pipeline delivery and storage charges are. $0.2071

What are the rates in other parts of the country like compared to ours? Are wew really that high here? I have watched the price of natural gas on the commodities market drop. But our rates keep going up.
Last month it was $0.7903 a therm
with delvery and storge of 0.2011

Mr. Aldof,

Here are the figures from my bills for the last three months. Note - I do not participate in the budget option as I don't trust the utility company to properly calculate the average monthly cost. My average bill for all of 2008 gas and electric service is $159 (high month was January $222, low month was September $91). In the winter I keep the house at 70 degrees with a set back of 60 degrees during the day. I do not have central air conditioning, but do use a room air conditioner for one bedroom upstairs (4 bedroom 1470 square foot cape cod style).

I do not know how the utility calculates all these different charges; as you can see it is complex.

Hope this helps you out fellow patriot!

dunno

about the utility bill, wife pays that...

but I work for a midstream natural gas company... prices are down, margins are paper thin. the price graphs look pretty wild... they usually look like W's for a given year, this last year was more like an upsideown V.

trying to see what might happen.... prices should peak again around June... but since things are being manipulated, who knows

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐

LOL @ No one paying their utility bill...

I had to do some research...

Short Story... $0.835/Therm for the gas..didn't figure storage and delivery.

Long Story..Bill has it in CCF (100 cubic feet)

I used 91 CCF last month at a cost of $78.30 (gas only, no fees)
according to http://www.convertunits.com/from/hundred+cubic+foot+of+natur...

91CCF = 9.38 DekaTherm (10 therms) so.. 78.30/9.38/10=83.5/therm

You can't throw out a question like this and expect people to know it off the top of their head...I just pay the bill.. LOL

I guess no one

pays their utility bills on here?
