The other Bush regime change: Haiti

Iraq wasn't the only country Bush "brought democracy" too during his reign of terror.
Just a few hundreds miles off the coast of the US, another
country was savaged in the name of "rule of law," this time
with the help of a seemingly unlikely partner.
There's a reason Haiti is the poorest country in the
western hemisphere...
In 2004, democratically elected Jean-Betrand Aristide was kidnapped by US and Canadian forces in the middle of a coup attempt and taken to "safety" in Africa.
Aristide was elected by wide margins twice and thousands protested Aristide's removal and demanded democratic elections that included him as a candidate.
This is how protestors, mostly from poor neighborhoods, were treated by UN "peacekeepers."
Among other things, Aristide is the author of the book The Eyes of the Heart: Seeking a Path for the Poor in the Age of Globalization, which used Haiti as a case study of globalization.
In it Aristide specifically points out problems with the World Bank and the IMF in creating larger problems within Haitian society and the economy.

aristide is no alter boy! I
aristide is no alter boy! I know the Delta force team who was responcible to take aristide back to haiti after he was ousted in the early 90's. Aristide loved to necklace people.. if you do not know what that is i'll tell you... you are tied up, a tire is put around your neck and the inside is filled with gasoline..it is then lit on fire! Aristide was put into office by the US government! The dela force guys who were his body gaurds said there were atrocities on both sides..

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul
Thanks for the link legalizeliberty.
How gruesome.. and who is really aware of it happening...
I work with a Haitian immigrant.
When the primaries were rolling he had said that Ron Paul is a 'good candidate' but he was pulling for Obama. Even though I wasn't able to pull him into the Ron Paul camp, he understood what I had realized. He once briefly told me about the events in Haiti. It really opened my eyes to the larger picture. After watching this, I more thoroughly understand the events in Haiti.
Thank you Hannah2.
