Tax on soda is better for your health and Pocketbook?
Submitted by sharpsteve on Mon, 12/29/2008 - 13:00
How does drinking soda relate to childhood obesity? Richard F. Daines, M.D., New York State's Health Commissioner, explains why more milk consumption and a tax on sugar based soda are better for kids' health.
He also explains why it will help your pocketbook to be taxed.

Milk is bad for your health also..
Milk consumption and too much dairy consumption causes osteoporosis.
Contrary to the BS the Government tells people to get them to drink more milk. Such as "milk does a body good" and drink milk for bone health.
The truth is that milk has more than 2 times the amount of Phosphorus than calcium it actually sucks calcium from the bones to make dicalcium phosphate. The addative you find in so many vitamines. Often these form cycts in the body, hard calcified soft tissue.
Countries with high dairy intake have high osteoporoses, those that don't osteoporoses is almost non-existent.
And that no fat / low fat crap is much worse than Homo milk and more fattening.
These idiots have no idea how the body works. The more they alter diet to be unnatural the worse it will get.
The answer is not in changing food but in kicking the kids out of the house and giving them a ball. A good electronic blackout will take care of the entire "obesity" problem.

No tax is a good tax...
Especially when it's intended to curb or alter someone's behavior.
Tax gasoline to curb travel.
Tax ammunition to reduce gun ownership.
How about more of a tax on food in general to help those fat people from eating so much?
How about this idea.... leave people the f*uck alone and let them solve their own problems.
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

Constitutional Authority for State Taxes?
You'd better check the New York State Constitution for your answer, as the Federal Constituion only refers to the Federal Government and the 9th and 10th Amendments make clear all other Authority is reserved to the States and Individuals. So in theory a State can tax soda, create an Official State religion (like the States hsd until 1955) etc....
Are you out of your mind
Are you out of your mind advocating for new taxes? We already HAVE a tax on soda, we have heavy tariffs on sugar, this is why in the United States they use corn syrup for soda and not sugar. It may very well be the fact that Americans are over weight is due to the fact that corn syrup is used so much and in so many of our products instead of pure sugar.
I am against this
This "Dr" is nuts.

He's mocking them
He's mocking them, not supporting them.
Register as Republican and Vote for Ron Paul
I'm going to start a bootleg
I'm going to start a bootleg soda operation. Maybe I'll get an Obama carbon tax credit for taking the CO2 out of the atmosphere and putting it in my drinks.
What isthe constitutional authority
for government to regulate and tax morality and health?
taxing soda is better
than taxing income.
To fund the MINIMAL activities of a reasonable government, there should be these sorts of taxes on "goods" that include a lot of bad.

Sin taxes are liberal tripe, though.
I don't support them. Yes, they are better than Income Taxes, but the same people who propose sin taxes, generally, like the Income Tax just the way it is.
If we must have any taxes other than tariffs, lottos, and user fees, we should flat tax corporations that make over $100,000 per year.

It's a ploy
To label it "bad" is just a better selling point. That does not make it right. They will just label more things as "bad" till you can't do anything.
People need medical care for injuries from working out and participating in sports and physical activities. Maybe we should tax that too?
