Letter to my family: All I want for Christmas...

Here is an email I am sending out to my family. I hope this idea catches on in the Paulosphere!

Dear friends and family,

Christmas is fast approaching and I know I can be a bit hard to buy for. Every year I get asked what I would like for a present, and honestly it is hard for me to justify any gifts. There are really not many things that I want or need, and on the occasion that there is something I want, I prefer to just buy it then and there. (my wife: Jane Doe) and I have decided this Christmas we want to try something a little different.

This is a video for Dr. Ron Paul, a congressman from Texas. He is running for president in 2008, and Jane and I think he is the only worthwhile candidate. If you know me at all, then you realize it is no small thing for me to be excited about a politician, but we are both very excited about Dr. Paul. As you can see in the video, Ron Paul supporters have a goal of raising a massive amount of money on December 16th. Jane and I plan to make a donation, as we did on November 5th. In addition to our donation we ask that our family and friends, in lieu of gifts for us, donate an appropriate sum to Ron Paul's campaign on December 16th. Here is the link to the donation webpage:

As I said, I hope this catches on! This is basically the email we are sending to our friends and family, but we tried to write it so that as many people as possible could use it. In other words, feel free to plagiarize!

Finally, besides being a great way to get some $$$ for RP, this is also a great way to spread the word about our Dr. Paul! Hopefully this email makes our family and friends realize how serious we are about supporting Ron Paul, and hopefully that causes them to consider supporting him as well.
